Community Relations & Event Marketing Specialist - Vermont

Better Business Bureau of Eastern Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont is a values-based organization that promotes trust within the business community.

We are looking for a Community Relations & Event Marketing Specialist acting as a BBB Brand Ambassador to represent us in Vermont. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, see details below.

The Community Relations & Event Marketing Specialist will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community driven. This position requires someone that possesses a positive attitude, a readiness to be a team player, and the ability to work independently. Essential responsibilities of the Community Relations & Event Marketing Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiate, plan and attend events in the community and at businesses, reaching out where people live, work and shop

  • Attend and exhibit at trade shows, farmer’s markets, expos and similar events throughout Eastern Massachusetts acting as a BBB Brand Ambassador

  • Event set-up and breakdown

  • Manage events calendar

  • Coordinate event logistics

  • Track event budget for all event marketing initiatives

The Community Relations & Event Marketing Specialist will be driving a BBB Branded van and must have a safe, secure place to park it.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be proficient with Google platforms

  • Possess excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Be friendly and personable with an outgoing personality

  • Possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record and a comfort level driving in all types of weather

  • Have the availability to work some evenings, weekends, and overnights

  • Be able to lift up to 60 lbs

Job Type: Full-time

Rate: $25 per hour

Schedule:

  • 32 hours per week (4 days a week)

Holidays

BBB offers all full-time employees 10-13 paid holidays each year. The holiday schedule is published annually.

Paid time off

Employees can earn 10 hours to 19 hours of PTO per month, based on length of service. This time can be used for personal needs, relaxation and recreation, illness or vacation time. PTO is available for use after 90 days of employment.

Birthday

Employees receive their birthday off (paid) based on length of service.

Office culture

BBB strives to create a positive work from anywhere culture with no commute, a safe environment, and interactive communication among team members, leadership and management.

Student loan repayment

This program provides BBB with the ability to fund additional payments to an eligible employee’s student loan(s) for the purpose of contributing toward the repayment of the loan(s).

Medical/health appointments

Employees are not required to use PTO for their own medical related absences, including, but not limited to: doctor visits, hospital stays, physical therapy. Employees should consult HR to determine if their absence is covered by the exceptions.

Tickets at work

Through TicketsatWork, you will receive discounts and special access to theme parks and attractions. Also check with TicketsatWork.com for savings on car rentals, hotels, tours and attractions across the US. If you’re staying local, save on movie tickets, sporting events, and other special events.

Warehouse Club Memberships

Employees have the opportunity to purchase Warehouse Club Memberships, ie: BJ’s, Costco. The employee purchases the membership at the club (or online) and submits for reimbursement through the employee reimbursement link ($60 max. per club per year). This also includes yearly renewals. Employees are responsible for payroll taxes associated with this benefit.

Pet Insurance

BBB has joined together with Spot Pet Insurance to offer our employees discounted rates on insurance for the care and well being of your fur babies. Spot Pet Insurance offers affordable and comprehensive plans that cover your fur baby from head-to-tail, providing everything necessary to help you ensure they receive the best care. 

 


401(k) plan

Employees with one year of service and are 21 years of age or older are eligible to join. All eligible employees that have not elected or waived participation in the Plan will be automatically enrolled at 2% on a pre-tax basis. Employees may defer on a pre-tax and/or Roth basis up to the maximum amount determined by IRS regulations. BBB will provide all participants a safe harbor matching contribution of 100% of the first 4% of pay an employee defers. This contribution is 100% vested. BBB will make an additional matching contribution of 50% of the first 6% of pay deferred. In addition there is an employer discretionary pro-rata employer contribution. Past contributions to eligible employees has been 3% (this is the same as the Money Purchase Plan below). Employees may choose from a wide variety of investment options through Nationwide Financial.

 

Money purchase plan

The Money Purchase Plan is a retirement plan that is 100% company paid to full-time employees who work a complete calendar year. The current company contribution is 3%. This benefit begins after one year of service.

Employee assistance program (EAP)

The EAP is a confidential service designed to help employees with a variety of personal issues such as: Emotional Health, Parenting, Child Care and Education, Senior Caregiving Services, Wellness and Daily living, and Legal and Financial.

Health benefits

BBB currently offers Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Employer contributions are 60%-100% based on length of service. Employee coverage begins on the first of the month following date of hire.

Eye exams

Employees are reimbursed up to $50 per year for the cost of an eye exam.

Vision benefits

BBB currently offers VSP Vision Care. Employer contributions are 60%-100% based on length of service. Employee coverage begins on the first of the month following date of hire.

Dental

BBB currently offers Delta Dental. Employer contributions are 60%-100% based on length of service. Employee coverage begins on the first of the month following date of hire.

Medical HRA

A Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) is an employer-funded account that is designed to reimburse covered employees for qualified medical expenses that are paid for out of pocket. BBB currently funds all out of pocket deductibles, co-payments, and prescriptions for covered employees and family members. The funding amount is determined at the beginning of each new plan year.

Dental HRA

A Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) is an employer-funded account that is designed to reimburse covered employees for qualified dental expenses that are paid for out of pocket. BBB currently funds up to $4,000 towards co-payments and co-insurances for covered employees and family members. The funding amount is determined at the beginning of each new plan year.

Section 125 plan

Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our Section 125 Plan Employee. Coverage begins on the first day of the first full month following 90 days of employment. The plan is a pre-tax benefit that allows contributions toward premiums for medical insurance and out-of-pocket medical or dependent care expenses on a pre-tax rather than after-tax basis. This means the contribution is deducted from gross pay before income tax and Social Security are calculated.

Life insurance

Full-time employees are enrolled in our 100% company paid life insurance plan after 90 days of employment. The plan provides $50,000 of coverage.

Long term disability

Long term disability insurance provides employees with a continuing source of income after three consecutive months of total disability. The benefit provided is calculated as a percentage of salary and is 100% company paid. This benefit begins after 90 days of employment.

Short term disability

Short term disability insurance provides employees with a continuing source of income after seven days of total disability. The benefit provided is calculated as a percentage of salary and is 100% company paid. This benefit begins after 90 days of employment.
