Scambusters®

Over $50 billion is lost to scams in the U.S. annually. Victims come from all age groups. But those most often falling prey to scams are between eighteen and twenty-four years old. Scambusters® is a suite of programs, all designed to combat the ever-growing problem by employing a fun game method while teaching participants to recognize and avoid scams.

Scambusters® was created in 2017 with the original intent of teaching high school students to recognize and avoid scams before reaching their most vulnerable age. Scambusters®’ approval rating is evidenced by the fact that approximately 95% of high schools which host presentations issue requests for return engagements to reach additional students. The success of Scambusters® out-distanced its original goals. Its engaging game format has proven to be popular not just among teenagers but with audiences of all ages. The Scambusters® Suite of Programs

The standard-bearer of Scambusters® is a live presentation presenting real life interactions – emails, texts, website pop-ups, and the like. Participants must determine if they are legitimate or scams. Discussions are held about the reasoning behind their choices. Correct answers earn a toss of our 6” foam dice for points for each round.

Scambusters® also offer remote presentations for audiences unable to host our in-person speakers. It borrows the game format from its namesake, challenging the participant to differentiate between scam and legitimate situations and offering points for correct responses. Remote presentations are held over Zoom or your prefered video conferencing platform.

When time is an issue, Scambusters® Flip Lessons are the answer. They are a series of concise tutorials teaching specific clues to identify scams. Each lesson can be completed in a matter of minutes. Watch as few or as many as your schedule permits. They can be viewed individually, but group settings allow for discussions afterwards which serve to reinforce significant points.

Teachers: After assigning Scambusters® Flip Lessons to a class, please submit this easy survey for a chance to win prizes.
