Some representatives came to my door today and I felt it was absolutely necessary to share my experience. They informed me that they were reading meters with AEP and ************* which I do have utilities through. However, the representative I spoke to was NOT clear about the fact he was with a supplier. He was also carrying a clipboard with a paper from AEP on it, so I believed he was here for some sort of service with them. He told me they were trying to determine whether people were being overcharged for services, because there have been issues in the system, and he asked me to pull up my bill so they could compare it to my meter. Long story short, he said I was being double charged and told me they were going to fix that for my by signing me up for their in-state supplier who is affiliated with ***. He rushed me through a bunch of digital paperwork, scrolling past all the details with the excuse that it was cold outside (which it was, so I wasnt as suspicious as I normally would have been) and they were trying to finish up quickly, because they had a lot of ground to cover. He was able to get me through ALL of the paperwork up to the point that they only needed me to do a voice verification call. However, he was trying to coach me through it and it got REEEALLY sketchy. He told me that the person on the phone would ask me if he was still there, and I should tell them no. When I received the call, the person on the phone asked who was with me because they could hear him in the background trying to tell me what to say. She asked my relation to the person, and I put her on hold to I could speak to him. He said I should tell her that he was MY BROTHER. At that point I told him I wanted to do more research so he would leave. I have NEVER been more sketched out by a door-to-door salesperson because while he was very kind, he was also extremely deceptive. This company lied to me about reducing my rates, I cancelled with National Grid and Im no longer on their plans or paying them for my energy services, but that does not stop them from spamming my phone with calls 2-3 times a day. Ive had to block over 20 numbers from salesmen claiming to represent Kiwi, and they keep switching to new numbers to get around this. This is the worst, most deceitful, and despicable company Ive ever dealt with and I just want their harassment to stop.Kiwi Energy NY LLC Response

Kiwi Energy is one of the worst, deceitful, most predatory companies I've had the displeasure of working with in my life. I'd give them negative stars if I could.Please do not do business with this third party. As of April 16, 2021, per the *** ********** of Services website, an electricity ESCO (3rd party supplier) must provide a variable rate that guarantees a savings on an annual basis, or with greater frequency, and provide a credit to the utility account or refund if they exceed what you would have paid your incumbent utility."Kiwi Energy has gone out of their way to create several other plans, including the "guard plan", which offers credits on stuff that you'll never need in your life, but does not guarantee savings on your energy bill, as a loophole to avoid passing on any savings to customers and take as much of your money as possible.They have lied, coerced, and ignored complaints from us for 3 years, which has cost us thousands of extra dollars compared to had we just gone directly through RG&E. Our bills with them are so ridiculously high, it's not even funny, and always have been. When we requested a refund per the *** website, they denied it, saying we had signed for their "guard plan", which we had never been informed of or had explained to us, and they would not refund us. This is how they'll get you - like most greedy, disgusting corporations, they will add in clauses that they never tell you about or don't understand so they can s**** you over until you figure it out.Do not do business with this company. If their sales people show up at your door, slam the door in their face and run. If you're using a 3rd party supplier, make sure you compare the rates of all available 3rd parties to the direct supplier. If you work here, find a new job, cause you're just as disgusting as they are.We have canceled with them and I plan to put bad reviews for them anywhere and everywhere I can, in addition to filing a complaint with the BBB.Kiwi Energy NY LLC Response

Came to my door while I wasn't home, acted like they were with AEP and asked my girlfriend to see my bill. They signed me up without my permission,and used my deposit money to pay my bill for two months and now my bill is more than twice as high as it should have been through AEP. This should be criminal. I'm going to seek legal action. It's the Holidays and I'm not paying these scammers when I want to give my girls a nice Christmas. I had seen them try this with my father before, but I had to threaten them with physical violence before they would leave the porch. Truly shameful to try to take money from old people like that and just as shameful to deceive my lady while I'm not home to step in.Kiwi Energy NY LLC Response
