1. Refer your family and friends.
Is someone you know in need of a new roof? Maybe your friends are in need of a new restaurant for a dinner reservation. Word of mouth is powerful! Referring and recommending businesses to your family and friends is an easy and impactful way to encourage others to support a business you love.

2. Connect and engage on social media.
Follow your favorite business on social media and like, comment, and share their content. You can also tag the business in a post sharing your customer experience. Social media engagement can help a business boost its visibility and gain new followers (who may end up being new customers!)

3. Make a purchase.
Whether you plan shop online or in person, making a purchase is a direct way to show your support for a business. With the holidays approaching, get creative and do some of your shopping at your favorite local businesses. This is a great way to support the business and refer your loved ones!

4. Leave a generous tip.
If you want to thank your favorite local coffee shop or restaurant, consider leaving an extra tip for their employees.

5. Participate in special promotions or events.
Is your favorite business hosting an event or running a special promotion? Get involved! Joining in on the fun may encourage others to support the business, too.

Before a review moves forward, BBB validates the reviewer’s email address or phone number. Reviewers also provide their name, which is shared with the business so it can confirm the customer interaction. Only the consumer who had the marketplace interaction can submit a review, though money doesn’t need to have changed hands, and BBB may ask the reviewer to show the interaction took place. Learn more about how this works.
Yes. Every review is sent to the business before it’s published. The business can confirm the customer interaction and respond, and both the reviewer and the business can add comments. BBB doesn’t allow comments from third parties. Learn more about our customer review policy.
Reviews are rated from 1 to 5 stars and must be based on a real marketplace interaction with the business. BBB doesn’t accept anonymous reviews or incentivized reviews, such as a discount or gift in exchange for a review or a mystery shopper paid to shop a business. A consumer can file a review or a complaint about the same experience, but not both. Before a review is published, BBB removes inappropriate language and personal information.
