On 9 Aug 2024, by telephone, I orally hired Intel-Electric to, on 12 Aug 2024, extend an existing inside single-phase 240 volt circuit (powering a receptacle on an inside wall) a short distance (about 5 feet) into my carport to power a Bridgeport-brand vertical milling machine. Intel was to supply and install a receptacle to mate with the plug on the ***************** cable. I stressed that the Bridgeport cable should obviously exit the receptable in the downward direction. On the 12th, before he left, I complained to Mr. ******* about the receptacle being rotated 90 degrees such that the **************** cable exited the receptable to the right, interfering with my homes only exterior door, which is obviously not safe (i.e. a trip hazard). See enclosed photo. I advised Mr. ******* that I would be calling this to the attention of the Municipality. The Municipality promptly came out and filed a Notice of Violation (enclosed) dated 20 Aug 2024. In addition to the cord trip hazard, the Notice points out:1.The receptacle supplied by Intel is rated for 20 amps (on the existing 20 amp circuit), while the Bridgeport has a 50 amp plug.2.The receptacle supplied by Intel is not a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupting) receptacle, which is required due to the receptacles outside location.3.A permit should have been pulled before commencing work.4.Due to Mr. ******* prior violation within a 5-year period, the normal $1,000 fine is doubled.
