    State of Alaska v Anchorage Auto Mart, LLC

    The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

    On May 3, 2022, Attorney General Treg Taylor for the State of Alaska announced a settlement in a consumer protection case brought against a used car dealership, Anchorage Auto Mart, LLC (AAM).  The court approved settlement requires AAM to pay civil penalties of $35,000, to pay $60,000 toward a restitution fund which will be administered by the Court, and to cease from engaging in unfair and deceptive trade practices. Attorney General Taylor filed the lawsuit against AAM on September 24, 2020, alleging that AAM engaged in numerous unfair and deceptive trade practices, including: Selling vehicles that lacked a valid title without informing customers of this fact; Failing to disclose that vehicle had reconstructed titles; Misrepresenting the accident history of vehicles; and Posting false or misleading advertisements Consumers who purchased a vehicle from Anchorage Auto Mart between September 24, 2014, and October 25, 2021, and were harmed by Anchorage Auto Mart’s unfair or deceptive trade practices are eligible to receive a distribution from the restitution fund. Consumers must file a claim form by June 17, 2022, in order to be eligible to receive a distribution from the restitution fund.  Consumers can request a claim form by contacting the Alaska Department of Law’s consumer protection unit by mail at 1031 West 4th Ave., Suite 200, Anchorage, AK 99501, by email at [email protected], or by phone at (907) 269-5200.  AAM denied that it committed the unfair and deceptive trade practices alleged by the Attorney General, but stated that it agreed that a resolution of the dispute was in the best interest of both AAM and eligible claimants.  For more information, please contact the Alaska Department of Law at 907-269-5100 or https://law.alaska.gov/department/about.html.

    I had a construction contract with ********************** to complete work by September 19, 2019. A wood stove chimney was supposed to be placed in the addition Friesens was constructing. The chimney was not installed. Numerous calls and emails to the owner to rectify this over the last two years have been met with lies like: I'll have the funds to pay you for it next week. Now the owner, ********************* will not return my calls or emails, and has his personal cell number transferred to and employee who says he'll pass the message, yet I don't receive a call back. Amount owed is approximately $2,700. Chimney and installation was paid to Friesens in February of 2020.

    Please do not buy a car from this place. I made the most terrible decision to buy a car from him. After looking at the other 1 and only complaint from BBB I noticed the same rederick, lies that was posted for the vehicle I bought. He also uses the scenario that his family is growing, and that's why he has to sell his family car for a bigger one. Run don't walk, or in this case drive to this place. I wish that I did more research

    If you notice that review that was almost 3 years ago which is when I told you I had purchased this x5 for my family. You will notice the other person had purchased our x3 which is smaller than the x5. At the time we were a family of 3, then grew to. Family of 4 so we switched to the x5 you purchased and now 3 years later about to be a family of 5 which is why we bought a bigger vehicle and sold the x5. So please do not lie on here when you were shown pictures and receipts under my name not business name of maintenance done on the vehicle over the last few years and also the vehicle in front of my house and numerous pictures and videos of the vehicle over the last few years of us owning it. This vehicle was our personal family vehicle and has nothing to do with the car lot you are leaving a review about. I have proof and documentation for all the claims I am making on here if needed. Thank you
