Summary of Issue ******** ******* brought his vehicle to Express Oil Change multiple times between April and June 2025 for a persistent coolant leak. He paid $1,103.54 for repairs that failed to resolve the issue. The vehicle was returned in an unsafe condition more than once and ultimately developed a new rattling noise, suggesting additional mechanical/engine damage caused by improper repair and repeated coolant loss.Service Timeline April 8, 2025 $939.01: Water pump replaced. **** continued. Vehicle released after staff stated, You understand the risk of driving with no coolant? demonstrating they knowingly released an unsafe vehicle. April 9, 2025 $164.53: Heater hose replaced. Shop noted car had likely been run with little/no coolant and warned of possible hidden damage. April 24, 2025 No Charge: Leak inspection; no resolution. June 27, 2025 No Charge: Water pump replaced again under warranty after continued coolant warnings. Leak briefly slowed, then returned to original severity within two weeks.Current Vehicle Status (Nov. 2025)Coolant leak persists and the vehicle now has a rattling sound, raising concern of engine damage caused by the shops negligence.Key Conduct Issue **************** considered seeking another repair shop, the service manager falsely told him, Theyre going to do nothing but send you back to me, and, I thought we had an understanding. This demonstrates dismissal of safety concerns, misrepresentation, and interference with timely repair.Relief Requested Refund of $1,103.54 Full coverage of dealership diagnostic + repair Compensation for any resulting engine/mechanical damage Written acknowledgment that the vehicle was released while unsafe At a second Express location, tech quoted $650 then $500, admitting the first shop missed the leak and walked back after lawyer mention. Staff admitted cheap parts and poor inspection. Car now wont start; charged $78.50 for new issue to avoid warranty.

On 04/08/25 Mr ******* brought the vehicle into our location at ********* with concerns of Water pump leaking coolant after replacement of water pump it was found that heater hose near fire wall was also leaking coolant. Mr ******* declined the repair requesting the vehicle back and at that time was made aware that driving the vehicle with heater hose leaking could cause catastrophic damage to the engine. Mr. ******* chose to drive the vehicle with coolant leaking. At this time vehicle had ******* miles on it

On 04/09/25 Mr. ******* brought the vehicle back with ******* after driving the vehicle for 44 miles with heater hose leaking to have repair made. At this time it was noted that the vehicle came into shop with very little coolant in it causing an overheating condition. Repairs were made , coolant was filled at this time and no other leaks were present.

On 4/24/25 Mr. ******* brought the vehicle back to our location at *********  with concerns of coolant still leaking . Upon arrival the vehicle had *******. During this visit no coolant leaks were present, engine temperature stayed in the normal operating range, and coolant level was found to be within proper specifications. It was noted at this time that the vehicle had a major oil leak coming from the valve cover area and also that the front right control arms had excessive play . EOC&TE recommended valve cover replacement and control arm replacement. Customer declined to repair.

On 06/27/25 Customer came back in with concern of coolant leaking at this time the vehicle had ******* miles on it.  This time it was found that the water pump was leaking and the store replaced the water pump under warranty at no charge to **********.

On 11/7/25 Mr. ******* brought the vehicle back with concern of coolant leak again. During this visit the store was extremely busy and told ********** that they would not be able to look at the  vehicle until the following Monday. Mr. *******  then asked if they could take it to another location to have it inspected and store management referred them to the Hwy 150 location. When customer arrived at the *** 150 location vehicle had ******* miles on it during the inspection process it was found that the coolant leak was caused by faulty water inlet housing, and in fact was not related to any work that was done at The Grove Location.

When the customer was advised of this, they stated that they did not want any repairs made to the vehicle at this time. Store personnel advised ********** of the dangers of driving the vehicle with a coolant leak and what damage could occur. Customer made the decision to drive the vehicle with a known coolant leak. Express Oil Change cannot be held liable for negligence on customers behalf.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 11/25/2025

I strongly reject Express Oil Changes response and maintain that their negligence and failure to correctly identify and repair the coolant leak over multiple visits caused further damage to my vehicle.

Despite their claims, the coolant leak was never resolved. I returned to their locations four separate times. Each time, the repair was either misdiagnosed, incomplete, or blamed on a new issue. They have admitted to using low-quality parts and even told me the leak is fixed when it clearly wasnt evidenced by the persistent coolant loss and overheating.

On one occasion, I was sent home after they claimed no leak was found. I had to continue manually refilling coolant for months, solely because I was saving up and planning a wedding not because I was indifferent to vehicle damage. The records confirm that the coolant issue never stopped and progressively worsened, eventually leading to major engine issues and a non-starting vehicle.
I no longer trust Express to make safe or competent repairs. I will not be returning to any of their shops and will instead have the dealership complete a proper inspection and repair, at their expense.

Lastly, I was charged $78.50 for a diagnostic fee on my final visit, despite the ongoing issue being tied to their repeated failures. The technician even said he couldnt put his foot in his mouth when I questioned the charge. Their shifting explanations, refusal to honor warranties, and dismissive attitude show a clear pattern of avoiding accountability.

For these reasons, I request a full refund of all service charges, reimbursement for any dealership repairs, and coverage for any additional damages resulting from driving with an unresolved coolant leak.

Some things that I will add:

I am now taking my vehicle to the dealership for repairs, as I no longer trust Express Oil Change to complete the job correctly. I have made multiple visits to their locations, each time trusting them to resolve the issue, only to have the coolant leak persist. The leak has never truly stopped, and each repair has been temporary at best.

Express Oil Change replaced the water pump for free under warranty, which clearly suggests they were attempting to cover their own mistake. If my warranty does not extend beyond the water pump, why would they replace it again for free? That action alone undermines the claim that these problems are unrelated.

I only declined the final service because I am not paying another dollar for Express to fix my vehicle. The only reason I even returned was under the assumption they were willing to honor the warranty. Once I learned Id be charged again, I chose to walk away. That is a valid decision after this many failed repairs and contradictory diagnostics.

Its also important to mention that one of the times I picked up my vehicle, I was told there was no coolant leakbut shortly after driving away, my coolant indicator started beeping and the car began smoking just a few blocks away. I had previously kept the vehicle operational by refilling the reservoir every few days, and though I knew it was leaking, at least it held coolant for short drives. After their failed repair, the car could not even hold coolant at all.

At this point, I believe this situation has gone far beyond typical wear and tear or unrelated issues. Ive been misled, overcharged, and left with a vehicle in worse condition after their work. I respectfully request a full refund for services paid and reimbursement for dealership repairs necessary to correct the ongoing damage caused by Express Oil Changes negligence.

I used Express Oil Change 8/22/2025 around 10:30 AM. I pulled in for a standard oil change. I was never consulted about an optional synthetic upgrade for $39.00. The car has ****** miles on it and I think its unnecessary. I had no choice but to pay since the service was already completed but I believe all potential upgrades and charges need to be discussed with the customer prior to the services being performed.

The manager called the customer and tried to clear everything up.  The customer's vehicle takes a 0w20 oil and he was informed that does not come in a conventional option.  It was explained that the hood technician should have done a more thorough job of explaining the options so that the price was clear up front.  The manager assured the customer that we did not mean any ill intent and that he would work to better train the teammate.  The manager also offered the customer a discount in the amount of the $39 on his next service, but informed him that after that, the price would return to the current level.

I had my oil changed on August 16, 2025. It was apparent that they technician was not very experienced. He took my air filter out to show me that it was in good condition. When the service was complete the Asst. ******* approached me for payment and mentioned that the technician is a trainee. As I drove away from the business my car broke down approximately 500 yards from the business. I called them and they came to my car and worked on it along the roadside for approximately 1 hour. The car worked fine before the service so there was no reason for me to having issues with it. They showed me that there was a piece of debris in the air filter sensor. They got my car working and I ran an errand to ******. As I headed home the car began stalling again. I drove it back to Express Oil and the Asst ******* worked on it for another hour. He told me that he was training the technician and was pulled away due to short staffing so the trainee was working on my car without supervision.I am upset because a technician with improper training was working on my car solo. The technician should have been pulled off the floor when the trainer was pulled off the floor. I emailed Express Oil 7 days ago and have not received a response.

I need to bring to your attention a serious safety incident at the Express Oil Change facility (Location #****) and the concerning manner in which it has been handled. On June 6, 2025, I visited your facility for a routine oil change. The visit resulted in a dangerous situation when, while driving on the interstate, I discovered the undercarriage of my vehicle had not been properly reattached. This created an immediate safety hazard for both myself and other motorists.Upon returning to the facility, the situation deteriorated further. Manager ***** offered a passing apology before departing for lunch, displaying little concern for the serious nature of the incident. What should have been a ***** minute repair stretched into an hour-long wait. ******* return to the facility with his lunch in hand, while I was still waiting for the repair, demonstrated a clear disregard for the gravity of the situation. The subsequent handling of this incident has been equally troubling. On June 12, ***** promised a full refund that never materialized. My attempt to escalate the matter to his supervisor ****** on July 4 went unanswered. Despite multiple calls to customer service confirming my eligibility for a refund, no action has been taken. As of August 7, the situation remains unresolved, with ***** continuing to make unfulfilled promises. This series of events reveals significant concerns within your organization. The initial safety violation was serious enough, but the negligent management and lack of accountability that followed are equally concerning. The poor customer service I've encountered, characterized by unanswered calls, unfulfilled promises, and general indifference, falls well below the standards expected of an established automotive service provider.

Hello, the below is from the opporto location of express oil. I Went in for just an oil change, they unplugged the air box on my 10th gen accord to sell me a new filter. They forgot to plug the *** sensor back in which triggered all sorts of codes when I fired the car back up. When I asked them about all of the new codes they said to go on, I circled back because the car was now in limp mode. They sent some rude kid out to call me a liar, he also said I was being disrespectful for persisting, then he ran the codes, found out it was the mass air flow sensor they unplugged during my OIL CHANGE and fixed it.I don't like having an oil change place mess with other stuff on my car, break it then get in my face about it. I just want an apology.
