DO NOT TRUST Riley Technicians. It's crucial that you're informed about Riley technicians' tactics. In 2020, I invested substantially in a new Carrier HVAC system from Riley Heating and Cooling. However, despite the system being under warranty, I've encountered overcharging, unnecessary services, and equipment billing. This is a warning. Be vigilant and aware of potential unnecessary costs. It's crucial that you do not trust Riley technicians. I'm sharing my experience to prevent others, especially military members, from being taken advantage of. Dealing with Riley HVAC Technicians will not bring you peace of mind; you'll find yourself in need of their services time and again. This is just the latest in a series of problems I've had with Riley Heating and Cooling. Here's my experience: On June 26, I discovered I needed to replace the fan motor in my new system. Although the part was under warranty, Riley charged over $400.00 for its installation. Then, on August 14, the system displayed a service/lockout code and stopped blowing cool air. The technician told me I needed 10 lbs of refrigerant added for at least $850.00, even though the unit only holds 13 lbs of refrigerant. If I had allowed Riley's technician to add 10 lbs of refrigerant, he would have blown up the system because it did not need refrigerant. I asked, "How does a system lose 10 lbs of refrigerant?" He stated: "There must be a leak, but I cannot find it. So, do you want to purchase the refrigerant?" Wow! Terrible troubleshooting! Thank God I am a reasonably decent HVAC technician. Anyway, I refused to pay Riley $85 for the service call. I assessed my system and discovered that the system's metering device needs replacing. Of course, the metering device should be operable for a new (5-year-old) system. However, Riley's installer didn't braze using nitrogen or allowed debris to enter the system. Bad install!
