I was curious to see what emeals had to offer so I signed up for the free trial. I browsed around the recipes and was not impressed so I looked for the businesses contact information so that I may cancel. They don't provide you with any other form of contact information other than a telephone number. So I try to contact them using the number provided and each and every single time there is no answer or means to leave a message. My bank account then gets changed $99.98 for this service that I don't even want. This is very bad business in my opinion.Business response

I signed up for a 14 day trial for emeals.com in which I was supposed to be charged for the service after 14 days. They make it difficult to cancel their service by calling them and using the automated cancellation function which for some reason only works during business days/hours. So I do that, and use my personal phone with the number I registered when signing up. They didn't ask for any additional information for cancelling just to confirm I wanted to cancel, and I did. But more than a month after the 14 day trial, the 14th day being when I should've been charged if I didn't cancel, they randomly charge me $99.98. This is not a mistake on my part, I did everything correctly to cancel the subscription and they charged me unlawfully; hoping I wouldnt notice. You can see in the email that I signed up on July 30. They need to be investigated.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/09/08) */ I am unable to help with this case as I can not locate an account under the name or email provided.. The documents uploaded do not reference an account name or number with eMeals and there is no record of any correspondence from the email indicated in this case. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/09/08) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The email I used to register for emeals.com is ******@gmail.com. I've read reviews and talked to other customers about how their system purposely doesn't allow subscribers to unsubscribe. One customer told me this: "Total SCAM! I haven't even made it to the 14 days and have been trying to cancel. The phone number is just a recording and hangs up when you press#1. So there is no way to cancel at all!" I called and successfully cancelled before the 14 day trial ended. I called them yesterday and they told me that there is no record of my cancellation although I did call and the system informed me it was successful. The proof is that I should've been charged 14 days after I signed up for the trial if I didn't successfully cancel but I was mysteriously charged over a month from when I signed up. They are trying to charge customers hoping they don't notice and making near impossible to cancel the subscription. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2021/09/09) */ With the new email provided, I was able to locate your account. The records indicate that you called the automated system on August 5th and extended your free trial for 2 weeks, hence the reason you were not charged until a month after you originally signed up. The records also indicate that you called in and canceled your account on the 7th and received a full refund. Not sure what else it is you are wanting at this point. Consumer Response /* (2000, 11, 2021/09/09) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) That's a complete lie, I know for a fact and remember clearly that I cancelled. And since I was not expecting a $100 charge from this checking account I was charged a $36 overdraft fee because I didn't transfer enough funds into the account. Luckily, I did receive a refund for the $99.98. I did ask the customer rep why I was charged and she said she has no record of me cancelling or extending the trial period. I'm also not sure why you allow customers to cancel during business hours mon-fri only when the system is completely automated, when every other subscription service has allowed me to cancel online. To me that seems very shady and shows that you want to make it inconvenient to cancel.Initial Complaint

It is absolutely absurd that this company does not offer online cancellation. They have attempted to charge me after the free trial was up and refuse to cancel the account without me reaching an agent, which has proven fairly difficult. DO NOT sign up for this service. Not only is far too difficult to cancel a service you don't use, but the offerings aren't even worth the hassle. Find another service that isn't more determined to charge you than they are to offer quality service that offers customers value. I recommend Tasty if you are looking for integration with Walmart. Much easier to use and manage your account with better meal choices as well. Don't make my mistake.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/08/12) */ The terms of the agreement that have to be agreed to prior to anyone signing up for the free trial is a call to cancel policy. This consumer emailed and flat-out refused to call to cancel. It is outside of the refund period, so no credit will be issued. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/08/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I signed up online and just like any other site should be able to cancel and communicate in other forms, period. I notified this company to cancel via email, and they are acknowledging that they were notified, and still charged me? I never used this service, and they will have no record of otherwise as I canceled within a day of signing up. This is theft and credit card fraud. I now have the proof to go back to the credit card company to dispute as you have acknowledged getting my notice of cancellation. Let it be noted that you are not authorized to use my card any further and it is to be removed from your records. This is again a notice of cancellation. Refund or i will pursue again with the credit card company. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2021/08/17) */ Please dispute with your credit card company.Initial Complaint

I did a free trial to this product and had attempted to cancel during the trial period as I did not find the product very helpful. Not only have they made it virtually impossible to cancel the subscription the free trial was misleading as they do not give a valid cancelation option and make it appear that you can just cancel online however when you actually go to cancel it they require a phone call which never seems to get through. This has lead to two separate charges and renewal subscription on my credit card that they refused to refund. I am seeking a full refund of charges and will continue to seek this refund until fulfilled. Terrible business model and very much a scam to offer free trials as an online company and then make it extremely difficult to cancel.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/08/02) */ This consumer has been a subscriber since June of 2020 and has never contacted the company via email or phone. His most recent charge has already been refunded and the account canceled. We will not refund charges for expired subscriptions. The phone system allows for automated cancelations and a call back option.
