From: Disgruntled Buyer Ok, I'll tell you what I think of these people. I bought a 2006 Ford Taurus SE from them on May 7 of this year. During the test drive, the check engine light came on. I happened to have purchased a diagnostic device sold by AutoZone and I plugged it in to the OBD II system of this car. The problem was that two engine cylinders were misfiring. Had that light not come on, I would not have been prompted to check it out and they certainly would not have told me about it. I pointed this out to the fellow who handled the financial end of the sale and he promised that a repair shop they do business kind of kitty corner from them on the same street would fix the problem and that they (the seller) would pay for it (as an incentive to sign on the dotted line, which I did). I contacted them and made arrangements for them to check it out. They had not been contacted by the dealership, so they had to call them to find out more about it. Anyway, the word came back that the Powertrain Control Module was bad and had to be replaced. Since this was a transaction between them and the dealership, I didn't see any paperwork concerning it. I just took the repair shop's word that this work had been done. I picked up the car in mid June and it wasn't very long before the check engine light came back on. I plugged in my device again and found that the repair did NOT solve the problem, that is, if the repair was done at all. I called the shop several times and left messages for them to call me back, but never did hear back from them. I have subsequently learned that one can erase the codes reported by the OBD II system, from that system so that the check engine light goes off when the car is started afterwards. So, there is doubt in my mind concerning whether the repair was done at all. I tried to find out from the parts department that the shop would have ordered the PCM from Ford and they have yet to call me back to confirm that the shop ordered the part from the dealership to provide evidence that the part was replaced on my car. Now, a third cylinder has joined the other two. I tried new spark plugs and even the wires, to no avail. I took the plug wires back and got a refund and put the old plug wires back on since that was not the problem. The value of the car is too far below the pay off to be able to sell it, so I am stuck with a piece of junk that I have to pay off in order to do anything to get rid of it. My advice to anyone thinking about buying a used car from these people is this: DON'T! Especially if the check engine light comes on while you're test driving it. Believe me, buying a car under that circumstance will cost you more in the long run than what it is worth.
