Content carried on our site is public information and is acquired from courts in all states and federal jurisdictions. The entirety of this information constitutes a set of documents held in the public domain, which collectively form an appellate record. We maintain this set of documents to serve the public in matters of legal research. Leagle is one of many online and print sources for such cases. It is our mission to provide information exactly as released by the courts to ensure the utility of this public domain resource. In order the protect the integrity of our database and search methodology, we will not manipulate this public domain by removing a record, which includes search engine indexes by adding a robots.txt, nor will we redact any portion of it, without a court order from an appropriate court of authority. Our review indicates that your case has a formal citation; a formal citation implies the case has been printed in one or more case law reporters and circulated to law libraries all over the United States. In such a case, removing the case from our servers does not remove it from the public domain; it merely disadvantages our users by leaving a hole in the appellate record. Any case including citation(s) of other cases or that is cited subsequently in other case(s) is important in maintaining the complete interconnected appellate record. Our removing, redacting or adding a robots.txt to the opinion does not remove it from the public domain and thus is unlikely to resolve your concern. As this information becomes more and more available over the Internet through an ever-growing number and sophistication of sources and search engines (including AI), you will continue to see it appear in searches. I suggest you contact the court asking for procedures needed for them to reissue the opinion, removing or redacting the information you wish to remove. Our experience indicates that courts are very receptive to this approach. This is the proper procedure for dealing with your issue and constitutes the only viable permanent solution. If the court would like to contact us regarding this matter, we would be pleased to work with them to resolve this issue. Once this is done we will substitute the reissued decision. If you feel the case contains incorrect information, you can use the Comment tab above the case to clarify the situation.
