I brought my tax information to this business on 3-10-23. I had a one on one meeting with the owner **** to make sure she could do my taxes correct this year because last year they did not and had to do an amended tax return shorting me $7,000. She assured me they knew how to file correctly. (The issue has been with my marketplace health insurance plan) After paying for them to complete my 2023 taxes, I received a letter stating they did something incorrectly and needed to resubmit a correct calculation and resend form ****. I hand delivered two letters directly to **** at the office. One was a fee for filing late for $200.00 and the other letter stated my taxes were not being accepted due to this office doing them incorrectly. To make matters worse, I have called there 4 times to have someone tell me **** will return my call of which she does not. On the 4 th call, I got **** on the phone and she spoke of an issue with her software and told me the health insurance company is supposed to send in the form, which is not true. She has no idea what is going on and I paid for professional help as that is her business. I am at a loss and concerned my taxes are not being handled and the business is ignoring my calls. I need help from the BBB to get this resolved.

We have been impacted severely with staff illness so it is not always possible to respond as quickly as we would like.  I did send a FAX to the *** late yesterday addressing the issue.  I notified the client of that fact.  She requested a copy of what was faxed and I complied this morning.

This issue is still not resolved. I do have a copy of the fax that, supposedly, was faxed to the **** However, that does not mean the taxes that were originally done incorrectly have been corrected and will be accepted by the ****

I have had no verbal contact with the owner about what was actually was done incorrectly and how she "resolved" the issue. So, there has been no effort to explain the mishap.

Until I hear from the *** stating my taxes have been accepted, the issue is not resolved.

The fax that I forwarded to ***** included the forms that the *** has requested.

Harris Accounting did my taxes last year and made a major error, they were not forthcoming about the error and I made several calls to them which were not returned and finally had to go to the office to find out what was going on. They finally completed an amended form which I was told would be filed January 23, 2023 but I have not had confirmation that it has been filed. Due to their unresponsiveness I changed accounting companies for this years taxes. The new accountant needs some info from Harris Accounting that was not available in the tax information they provided me last year. I called once and ***** Harris returned my call and did send info but it wasn't what my new accountant needed so I forwarded the email from my new accountant to ***** so she would know exactly what was needed. It has been over a week and I've had no response. I left a message on 2/14 asking ***** to call me I received no call. I also sent an email follow-up asking for the info and for written confirmation that the amendment for my 2021 taxes has been filed. I have had no response to the email. Harris Accounting needs to immediately send me written confirmation that the 2021 amendment was filed as it has a significant amount that will be taken out of my account. They also need to provide the requested information that is needed by my new accountant to complete my taxes for 2022.

Yes, we made a mistake.  Although we try, we are not perfect. But we fixed the error and forwarded all the information she requested of us.  In addition, I agreed to pay any penalties and interest (FYI legally I am only liable for penalties not interest) and in fact I sent her a check last week in response to an IRS notice she received.  Also, she has conveniently overlooked the fact that we prepared an amendment for the previous year to get her a refund; we did not originally prepare and file that return but we did the amendment at no charge.

While I am grateful that Harris Account did pay the interest, I told them in the email notifying of the interest that I hadn't heard about additional penalties and will not close out the complaint until I hear from the *** regarding penalties.  As far as not mentioning the 2020 amendment for an additional refund, the *** so far has not accepted that claim and I have not received the refund.

The *** is behind in processing amended returns.  I checked the status of this amendment and it shows the following:  Received 5/11/23; Adjusted 12/01/23; Completed 12/22/23.

I will accept this business response when they guarantee they will pay any additional penalties in relation to the amended tax form.
