I initially purchased a new iron door to replace the style and rail wooden door from our 35 year old house and the change was significant including the security. I was so impressed with their service level and pricing I bought 5 more. I have had a few occurrences where I needed service beyond the warranty and they obliged. Very impressed with the response and professionalism of the organization.First Impression Ironworks

**** *. 10-21-24 We purchased a security door in Jan. 2022. The purchase process and install was relatively smooth, and we have been generally pleased with the door. Recently I noticed that it was catching slightly when opening. Upon examination I noticed that the bottom s**** head holding the latch face plated had broken off. I also noticed that the assembly was not aligned properly, and was bulging for lack of a better term, indicating to me that it would likely break again in a relatively short time from undue pressure. I called the service department and explained what had happened and that I thought it had not been lined up correctly at install which caused it to snap the head. I was told that it was installed correctly and that the house had settled which made no sense at all unless the entire frame of door bent which it had not. I guess that can be determined without seeing it from a phone in *******. I was also told that the warranty was only for 2 years on parts which I recall, but my recollection is that it was a lifetime warranty on installation . In addition I was told that since we live in ****** the service call to fix the problem would be $150. We paid just under $1800 for the door 2 years and 9 months ago. I think it's fair to expect it to hold up at least a little longer than this, and if not, to have a bit more satisfaction when dealing with customer service. I'm not one to complain online in fact don't believe I ever have, however this one rubs me wrong. The lady I talked to was not interested in considering it could have been an install problem, and left me with one option. Pay the service call or fix it yourself, which I will begrudgingly do. That being said I would not recommend this company and would encourage any potential buyer to look closely at the reviews on yelp and here at the BBB. They are not stellar and many of their replies to negative reviews tend to blame the customer.First Impression Ironworks

We contracted with First Impressions on 3/16/2020 for an iron gate to our front courtyard. When installed it looked great. However within the first year the latch became jammed and you couldn't open the gate. There were 2 service calls for the same thing. On the third call the fellow explained that the stem that slips into the latch had been purposely bent at installation because their part did not fit, was too long, and didn't clear the wall. His only solution was to cut the stem. Two and half years later the stem broke. I called and ordered the gravity latch since it required only a few screws to replace the old one. The new part did not fit and I am not able to cut down the stem, that had not been customized to fit their design of my gate. Their solution was to schedule service for $118. I objected to the service call, observing that their design was flawed, their install accommodated that flaw and the parts that I purchased from them (2 for $70) did not fit my gate. Their response was an adamant claim that their design was not flawed, install was correct and they "might" refund the parts if I returned them. This company is unreasonable to work with and for the cost of their product I would consider one of their competitors.First Impression Ironworks

We are sorry to hear you are having problems with your gate latch. Our company verified in 2020 your product was installed properly. Maintenance is expected and may need to replace hardware items from time to time. Our team wanted to understand the circumstances better leading to replacing the gravity latch so often. A manager in our customer care department recently reached out to you and has taken care of your needed gravity latches and update to your situation. We do hope this provided you some resolution and answered any questions regarding maintenance expectations. If you require any further information, please contact us at ************ option #3 for customer care. Thank you!Review fromCynthia H

BUYER BEWARE! We had an issue with this company. We were promised at time of contract that they would take the existing doors out, put the new doors in & everything would be perfect when completed. Signed contract, put down a deposit down $10,700. We were told to wait for rendering from engineers. This took two weeks to get this to us. We noticed that in small print on the side of the rendering which we were to sign said, "CUSTOMER ACKNOWLEDGES ****************** is not responsible for stucco, drywall repair and/or touch up that *** result from removal of existing product or the installation of new product with a signature line. This was not disclosed on contract so two weeks after signing contract, they deducted an additional $10,000 that was not supposed to be due until the installation. ***** offered me $350 off the purchase price if I signed it. I was not looking for a credit but only looking for what was originally agreed on when we signed contract. I ended up canceling the contract and asked to get the refund immediately for the $10,700 they billed me. They deducted $360.00 from the refund. I believe I should be refunded the $360 that they stole from me. They did not disclose that they would not accept responsibility if they damaged my drywall or stucco. What the company explained AFTER the contract was signed was that there could hairline fractures in the stucco. Does a company like this actually get away with scamming their customers. If you're looking for new doors, look elsewhere. They are a complete waste of your time. I talked to a gentleman named ***** to have him give me the full credit and he flat out refused saying that they did a rendering and we have to pay for it. If they would have disclosed that their not responsible for damage to my home, the contract never would have been signed.First Impression Ironworks

First Impression Ironworks apologizes for any misunderstanding and we can assure you the outcome of your project would have been beautifully done. We only have the best interest of your project with us and appreciate the trust granted from our customers. You are correct, we did make minor cuts at the final measurement as expected to determine where wiring may be located. Indeed, wiring was located and this is to avoid any damages or concerns for your home. The cutout footprint would have been covered at your final installation with no concerns. The information we provide regarding stucco and drywall potential is standard to inform you if any would exist outside the normal footprint for your awareness. Our objective is to advise our customer with what to expect for the process. Unfortunately charging you for the final part of your order was not intentional and our company refunded this immediately. We do sincerely apologize for the error. Upper management will attempt to reach out to you to review your experience and feedback.Review fromMary P

THEY were very fortunate that the problem caused by an important step in the construction process was missed in the of the product we bought from First Impression & was NOTICED JUST TWO MONTHS after the warranty was up! We had to fight for them to REFUCE OUR COST to have the security doors REDONE because of a manufacturing process that was missed, causing the paint to bubble, crack & chip off. They leave Customers with a VERY BAD LAST IMPRESSION!First Impression Ironworks

We do apologize if this requires further explanation so please allow us to answer any questions you may have. Our expert team at FII verified this is not a powder failure upon inspection, so even within the 2-year finish warranty this would not have applied. Our team understands how frustrating this is for you and why we offered a high level of service by absorbing all the cost for the stripping, sand blasting, repair and re-powder coating. Our care department charged a discounted removal and reinstallation fee. We feel this is above and beyond to offer you a level of care. It is apparent you do not agree and it is unfortunate. We can assure you there is no manufacture or powder error. We encourage you to contact our care management if you have any further questions. Thank you!
