    My husband, *** suddenly got sick last October. He had always been healthy with no medical issues, so we found ourselves in unfamiliar territory. After two months of testing, with terrible wait times and little information, we finally learned he had stage 4 lung cancer. Waiting to get appointments with doctors and labs, the tests became more stressful and difficult every day, the family was helpless. **** on Jan 19th, a nurse from Acacia Hospice came into his hospital room and asked the family if there was anything they could do to help us. Our response was, "We know he's dying but *** just wants to get out of here but we have no idea what we can do or how we can do it." She left to talk to the head nurse and a hospital advocate, came back and said Acacia could supply us with the necessary equipment, medical supplies and support help if we wanted to take *** **** and take care of him ourselves. *** just wanted out of the hospital to be in his own bed in his own ****, so we certainly welcomed the support Acacia could offer, so they headed out to make arrangements. We arrived **** with *** just 3 hours later. A nurse met us at the car with a wheelchair and helped get him into the house where his room had been transformed into a comfortable nursing setting with everything we would need to take care of him for as long as needed. They helped him into bed where he finally relaxed and fell right to sleep. The support team went over the details with the family about what we might expect then answered our questions. Finally, for the first time in weeks, some real information we could understand. We all relaxed.The people and the service were extraordinary, from the delivery men who dropped everything they were doing to get the equipment to us and set up with less than 2 hours notice, to the office staff and caretakers who really understood our frustration and anxiety as well as all our fears. I can't recommend them highly enough, what a blessing they were.
