I was given false information about a vehicle I bought. I was not given the CARFAX and was not told about structural damage.Business Response

Hello, Ideal Cars always provides a carfax to our customers when we are asked for one. We are sorry that you did not receive one and assure you would have if asked to do so.Customer Answer

The damage of the frame was not mentioned on the ***** equinox. This is the second time you guys have failed to mention something about a car. The Nissan rogue was missing a huge chunk in the carpet under the drivers side floor mat and it was shown on the pictures online or told to us. We come back and turn that car in and try to give you guys another shot and the trunk I mentioned on the test drive and you guys did not say anything about structural damage.Business Response

On June 8th, 2024 I, ****** *********, went to Ideal Cars located at **********************************, purchased a 2017 ******* MKC. A check engine light was illuminated a couple of weeks after indicating a cylinder misfire, took it to the ideal cars service center on *********************************, they advised and quoted me a replacement engine for a cost of over ***** dollars, after taking some time to process the unfortunate situation, I took the time to look back at the carfax and noticed the vehicle went to the fiesta ******* dealership located at *****************************, for service on December 12, 2023. After calling fiesta ******* and asking the service writer what exactly they found, they told me that they found the same issue, a cylinder misfire, and recommended a replacement motor to the person who owned the vehicle at that time and declined repairs. This lead to an easy realization that the issue was present on the car since then and up to the point of me purchasing the vehicle indicating that the issue did not present itself after my taking ownership but rather before. After notifying ideal cars about the situation and hopefully taking care of the issue, they instead only offered to cover half the cost and needing the work to be done at their service center location, I said no I should not be needing to pay for anything since this problem shouldve been taken care of prior the car being sold. I have filed a complaint with the state attorney general and they also have not recieved a response from the business. I went a step further and i am actively trying to start an arbitration dispute which in the contract i have signed with them allows me to do so and they have not been cooperative even though it clearly states in the contract they are obligated to do so.Business Response

We understand that experiencing mechanical issues after purchasing a vehicle can be frustrating, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. At the time of purchase, ****** was given the opportunity to inspect, and take the vehicle to a mechanic for a pre purchase inspection. He was explained the 15day/500 mile warranty and what it included. He was given the Arizona Buyers Guide, which he signed, which includes a list of major defects that can occur in used vehicles. Furthermore, ****** was given the opportunity to purchase an extended warranty that covers repairs such as the one stated.
As I know none of those statements help in the situation to repair the vehicle, Ideal Cars always gives its customers the opportunity to bring any and all issues to our attention prior to purchase.
After reviewing the case, we want to clarify that the vehicle in question was brought in with the current issue outside of any applicable warranty coverage. Unfortunately, due to this, Ideal Cars is unable to cover the full cost of the repair. However, as a goodwill gesture and in an effort to assist you, we previously offered to cover half of the repair cost if the work is completed at our service center. While we understand this may not be the resolution you were hoping for, we stand by our offer as a fair and reasonable compromise given the circumstances.
Please let us know how you would like to proceed.Customer Answer

it is absurd you would try to get away with selling a defective car, as I previously stated, this issue was NOT made present after I purchased the vehicle. After reviewing and trying to present the evidence to the service center and their manager, its been made perfectly clear that this issue was present on the car BEFORE I took ownership of the car. Furthermore, you have failed to acknowledge my mention of starting an arbitration dispute which per the contract I have signed with you, I am within my rights to do so. I would hope you make the right choice before the deadline date the *** gave you, otherwise you are in breach of contract. However judging from your response of this matter, youve made it known you may not be capable of making such good business decisions that take proper care of your customers and any issues that come up from your side.Business Response
Date: 04/15/2025
The "right to arbitration" that ****** is referencing is in regards to any disputes with the financial contract between ****** and his finance company. Simply opening an arbitration case with an unknown company and sending Ideal Cars a bill for it does not pertain to the complaint at hand. This particular complaint has to do with the implied warranty of merchantability. As previously mentioned, at the time of purchase, ****** was given the opportunity to inspect, and take the vehicle to a mechanic for a pre purchase inspection. He was explained the 15day/500 mile warranty and what it included. He was given the Arizona Buyers Guide, which he signed, which includes a list of major defects that can occur in used vehicles. regardless of the arbitration, I have physical proof that I will bring to court that shows you are a business that relies on shady practices and not an honest reliable place of business. I have proof of the problem occurring before my purchase from your location. I will show to the court that you should not be trusted and hopefully other people will see just how ideal of a place you really are. You screwed over the wrong person and justice will be served. Just look at all the horrible reviews from all of your locations. The same situations are happening all over because you simply are selling defective vehicles and making a profit off of hard working people that simply need a working car and are being misled and bullied into buying your junk cars. Ill be expecting a check in the future after the judge clearly sees the crooks you areInitial Complaint

Purchased a car from Ideal Cars in April of last year. A few months later I had to replace the alternator, battery, and water pump. Fast forward to January of 2025, the car broke down on my drive to **** where I now live. The car needs a new transmission which will cost 1900 for the part and about 2000 in labor. I am completely upside down on this vehicle. From day one, the transmission didnt shift right and I was assured that the slow, sluggish transmission was just the way CVTs drove. I am now stuck with a massive bill and have decided to junk the car as its not worth fixing. I put money down and still owe a huge principle. They sold me a lemon and I have contacted an attorney for a class action lawsuit. Ideal cars sells lemons to their customers. They have frequent complaints about general issues relating repairs because they do not care. I was stuck on the road in ***** and thankfully had another car. Do not buy a car from them. They do not sells cars with rigorous inspections. Theyre lying.Business Response

Disappointing Experience Price Increases and Misleading Practices**I recently purchased a vehicle from this dealership, and my experience has been incredibly frustrating. Initially, the price was listed at $12,499, but they raised it under the guise of including a tax rebate. However, their website clearly states that the pricing already includes this rebate. As a result, I ended up paying an additional $4,000, meaning they profited an extra $8,000 on the ******* make matters worse, the vehicle I purchased has a lemon-branded title, which typically reduces its value by approximately 35% compared to a non-lemon-branded vehicle. This significant factor was not adequately disclosed during the sale. Additionally, I paid $1,499 for reconditioning, but the quality of the work was subpar. The dealership also advertised window tinting, yet there is no tint on the vehicle at all.Overall, I feel misled and taken advantage of by this dealership's practices. I would strongly advise potential buyers to proceed with caution and thoroughly investigate before making a purchase here.Business Response

Just as the complaint states, "their website clearly states that the pricing already includes this rebate". That is correct, we advertise the price after the available tax credit, if buyer qualifies. This tax credit must be shown on the paperwork in order for the *** to credit it. Nothing misleading at all, this is how the *** requires that it is done. Ideal Cars is and always has been upfront with its pricing. Every customer is explained line by line and upon approval, signs accepting the terms and conditions. As was the case with this deal.Initial Complaint

I purchased a 2009 ****** Cube on 02/14/2024 from the Ideal Cars location at ************************************************* At the time of purchase, I paid for tax, title and registration. I was purchasing this vehicle as a 2nd vehicle with intent of my son learning to drive on it and eventually having this become his vehicle. My initial temporary registration expired after 6 weeks. I went in to the dealership and they printed me another temporary registration. At that time, the salesman informed me that there may be a little delay getting plate because he had the prior owner sign the title in wrong spot and b/c it was out of state title from ********, they were having some difficulty obtaining valid title, which is required to send to ADOT for my plates to be issued. Approximately one month later, temporary registration expired. I went back to dealership and they printed me a 90 day temporary registration. I asked if there was someone I could speak to regarding the delays and they gave me ******* ******** number. She informed me that their title lady was working on it. In mid-June, still hadn't received anything and was informed they were working on it. In July, still had not received. According to *******, they were going to have to get a bonded title because they were having issues. They reprinted a 90 day temporary that expired 10/29/2024. I s/w ADOT on several occasions and they had yet to receive anything from Ideal Cars and showed the car as registered to prior owner in ***************. They informed me there would be no further extensions allowed on registration. I attempted to reach ******* on multiple occasions and she would not come to phone or return calls. I s/w ADOT again on 10/21 and they had me come to their **** location. They filled out some forms to try to get me a temporary and did a Level 1 inspection. Long story short: I bought the car almost 9 months ago and have not received my plate. I can no longer get temporary registrations so I can't drive the car.Business Response

Ideal Cars is sorry this has taken so long on both accounts, the response to the above mentioned claim, as well as the unusually slow response time from Oklahoma Motor Vehicle in regards to the title mentioned in the complaint.
I am happy to report that with the help of the office of the ****************************************** all necessary title and registration has been issued per an Executive order of the State.
Any questions concerning this matter can be directed to me at the number listed below.Initial Complaint

We bought a *********** with their company. On the documents of the agreement, there were no know issues. I drove the car off the lot and that was a complete lie. We had to bring the car back 6 times in a month because the 72 hour mechanical failure happened with multiple parts of the car. In the trips to and from the dealership we had our power steering smoking. ONce they claimed that was fixed, we had white smoke coming out of the car. The repeatedly had us return the car with no solution. They waited out the warranty of a month only for us to be ************************************************** **** in gas the 6-10 times we had to go to get the car working. Now, I am out the difference of the car and gas because I had to trade it in for a car that actually works.Business Response

I have not heard from Ideal cars in regards to my complaint about compensation for the amount of times I've drive to the dealership or the loss of the amount on the car as a result of their false advertising of a working vehicle. I'm also out the amount I've spent on trying to repair the car.Business Response

My elderly father helped me get a car. As I was searching both in the PHX. area and ****** as I live in ******. Father in Tempe. Anyhow I ran into a *** I was interested and checked their website. As Ideal Cars website says "every pre-owned vehicle under goes a rigorous inspection process". Ok good. Don't have to worry about up to date maintenance. So we bought the *** $16,332.00 CASH. For a 2017 **** escape we decided to get a extended warranty with that. The paper work received at the time we bought it didn't turn out right. Their copier wasn't working right. So he emailed me a copy. Okay so I get home and go through the bill of sale and see they charged a reconditioned fee of $995.00. I'm still thinking because of this there wasn't going to be any problems with my purchase. I bought the *** on 9/24/24. The engine light came on 9/28/24 four days after purchase. This is after I drove a hundred miles back to ******. I immediately emailed **** at Ideal. Had no response after several emails for days. After calling **** the next Tuesday he seemed bewildered over it. He told me to drive it back to **** for them to repair it at their shop. During this time I took my car to my mechanic here in ******. My mechanic found out that there was no maintenance done at all. Both dirty brake and transmission fluids and the engine light right now is still in the progress of being working on. Ideal Cars wanted me to take it to them in ****. What they seem to not realize is that my warranty is NOT good if the proper maintenance is done. So my mechanic advised me not to drive it 120 miles to get it serviced. This is uncalled for. The last time I talked to ****. He said that he didn't think his boss was going to go for this. What? False advertisement and common law fraud at its best. So right now I'm out $995.00 reconditioned fee that they have no records of anything done to it. But I'm out $502.40 so far for simple maint. they didn't do before selling it. And still engine light on.Business Response

Ideal Cars is always sorry to hear when a customer of ours has issues with a vehicle they purchased from us. We are always here to help with any and all needs our customers may have with their vehicles. Unfortunately in this situation, the customer lives in a different city. ******************** always allows our customers to drive, inspect, and even have a mechanic of their choice inspect a vehicle prior to purchase. Our "reconditioning" fee covers items that the vehicle may need prior to purchase, such as tires, dent repair, upholstery repair, paint repair, lighting, etc. While Ideal Cars does inspect our vehicles prior to selling them, as with any and all used vehicles, they are not perfect. We would be more than happy to address any issues you may have now and in the future, however we will need to address those issues here at Ideal Cars.Initial Complaint

On 9/9/2024 I purchased a car from Ideal Cars at *********************************. On 9/9/2024 I noticed the check engine light was on. I immediately called Ideal Cars to speak with **** who sold me the car. He was unavailable so I spoke to *** who said just take it to get it repaired. She gave me the information for the ***************** I called and they said sure come in and they would take a look at it, they close at 5. On 9/10/2024 I took it to Ideal Car Maintenance on Broadway where the Technician looked at the code and said, it's the catalytic converter. I also told him about the brakes and the ignition. He gave me an appointment for Friday 09/13/2024. They kept the car all day and told me that the brakes were fixed, there was nothing I could do about the ignition, and it was not the converter they put a sensor on the back and I should be good let them know if it comes on again. Before I got home the light came on again and I knew they were closed until Monday. On 9/16/2024 I called and was transferred to **** in Maintenance but voicemail came on and I couldn't leave a message. I called again on 9/17/2024 and got the same thing. I took the car to Auto Zone, got a printout showing the converter and he informed me that they have one in stock. Someone called me back and gave me an appointment for 9/20/2024. I showed the technician the printout and informed him that they had one in stock. They kept the car all day and called me to tell me that I could come get the car because the catalytic converters were on back order and he didn't want to keep the car for two weeks. The manager said it's been so many days. I asked the manager shouldn't the car have shown that it passed the emission prior to the sale? He said yes. On 9/24/2024 I called to speak to **** or *** and was transferred to voicemail. At this point I want the car repaired and with good parts and a Carfax report. I'm reaching out for help with getting this resolved asap.Business Response
Date: 10/16/2024
Ideal Cars is always here to help with any issues our customers have with their vehicles they purchase from us. In this particular case, the catalytic converter that Autozone had in stock is not the correct converter for the vehicle. Autozone sells a "universal" catalytic converter that will trigger a check engine light in vehicles. Newer vehicles require a converter that was made by the manufacturer for a specific vehicle. This was the case with this vehicle and the correct converter was indeed on back order. The "good parts" that are being asked to use to repair the vehicle are exactly what we do. The converter from autozone is not a "good part" and will cause more problems.Customer Answer

On 7/31/24 I purchased a 2022 ***** trax from ideal. On 8/20/24 I tried to start car and it was dead. I contacted ideal (******) and told him about the car. He told me to get it jumped and come to dealership where he stated he would give me a new battery. After waiting over 3 hours on 112 degree heat roadside assistance arrived, tested battery which was dead. Gave me a jump to hurry to dealership for battery. I arrived at 5:50 pm and the doors were locked. They are open until 6 pm. Eventually ****** appeared and tells me there is no one there to put in battery and to come back today. I told him once I turn it off it's dead and I would have to call roadside for a jump. I said to ******, don't you check these things before the customer leaves, his answer was yes. I disagreed because had they checked it they would have known instantly. He then said go to auto zone and buy a battery! This is 20 days since I purchased car! The next complaint is that I only got one key fob. He told me he could make me one but again this was incorrect. He gave me a number of a man that makes them. His quote was $295. The next complaint was the vehicle did not have an owners manual. He said I could print on out however I don't have a computer. When I asked him yesterday he said the manual was 280 pages and that I should download it on my phone. I looked for manual on line and the cheapest was $68. I am requesting a refund for the battery I had to purchase. I would never use this dealership ever again due to this experience. They just don't care! I now worry what else might happen to this car that wasn't disclosed!Business Response

Hello *****, we are sorry to hear about your frustration with the vehicle you purchased from us. Please understand that it is impossible to predict that a battery can go bad 10days after you purchased it from us. There are many factors that can cause a battery to fail especially the extreme heat we have here in ********
Unfortunately we use a third party locksmith that we refer our customers to. The price of a key fob can vary depending on the vehicle and are impossible to quote without the locksmith knowing what vehicle it is for.
As for the owners manual, we apologize for not providing a physical copy with your vehicle. We understand that accessing a manual online may not be convenient for everyone. We will gladly provide you with a physical copy at no additional cost.
Please let me know what address to get that sent to.

I purchased a ****** Frontier on or about 06/06/2022 From Ideal Cars on ********************************************************. I took my car into the Nissian Dealership about 5 days after purchasing due to a tranmission line leak as it was still under manufacture warranty. They asked me at thay time if I was aware of any accidents to this vehicle. I told them no, not to my knowledge. I now know why they asked. I went to trade this tuck in today and the place I took it to won't purchase it due to the car fax stating STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. They looked the vehicle over and said frame is damaged. I contacted Ideal Cars and they did not call me back. I went in with car fax in hand and was told the car fax doesn't prove STRUCTURAL Damage. It could have been a paint chip for all they know. I am now stuck with a vehicle I can't sell and I was not aware of any damage to this vehicle. Not shown a car fax for this damaged as I would never buy a vehicle knowing I can't resell it. The business is not going to help me and now I'm out almost ****** dollars.Business Response

We are sorry to hear of your frustrations you have with the vehicle you purchased from us at Ideal Cars. Ideal Cars has and will always present a carfax to our customers if asked to do so. While it is true that "structural damage" can be something simple, as well as something major, carfax cannot state rather it was either except for "based on a visual inspection". Ideal Cars understands that some dealers will use this report as a way to buy the vehicle for less than it is worth. We would be more than happy to give fair trade value on the frontier, regardless of a carfax report. If this is something you would be interested in, please visit any one of our locations.
