I'll never go back and beware! They left multiple screws and bolts out of my engine area and a major firewall in my engine compartment was left off. They forgot to hook up a line going to my turbocharger and I had to go back. Don't know how they missed that during the test drive unless they never did bother with checking out their work. They must have MANY leftover nuts and bolts in their garage floor at the end of the night. I wouldn't go there you. They also gave me a quote for $1500 to repair my air conditioner and I did it at another auto repair shop for less than 500.Business Response

Hi. I believe this was mistakenly attributed to our location. But the story doesn't match up. I can see all the locations and I think we were the shop that got it fixed for $500 in the story. So maybe it was an honest mistake. Thank you!Initial Complaint

My vehicle has been in their repair shop for a year. It all started out with a thermostat repair and Coolant hose replacement. They replaced the wrong coolant hose. The hose they were supposed to replace broke and caused my engine to overheat. I had to get a different motor because of their incompetence and negligence. That motor was $4000. I should not pay anything for the motor. It was their fault. After the motor was replaced, I have had problem after problem. They keep asking for more money and making excuses. I have tried to pick my vehicle up 3 times over the last year and every time I had to Uber home because the vehicle broke down. I am 63 years old, I seen a lot, this has been the worst car episode of my life. My next step is to take them to court and *** them. They Have cost me thousands of dollars. They are at fault. This has been a nightmare. My stress is over the top. They will be paying medical bills soon.Initial Complaint

Paid $8800 for an engine rebuild on September 15th 2023. The rebuild was completed approximately 6 weeks from then. Not even 24 hours after my check engine light went back on and was brought back to the shop for 3 weeks before they stayed injectors and motor mounts were bad, to which I paid for. Again the check engine light was on. My truck has been at their repair shop since and they are still unable to fix the issue. However continuously charging me more money for an engine they cannot complete.Business Response

When I purchased the engine rebuild through your company I was given a year warranty. However, the same day I drove my vehicle home the check engine light was still on. After months and multiple checks from your company the issue has not been resolved. Your business had no problem charging me even though the job was not completed. Your company has been sloppy at handling my vehicle with bolts missing and engine cover needing to be replaced because your business was not thorough. It has been 8 months and counting and my vehicle has not been fixed, therefore your business is costing me 8 months of car insurance wasted, Ubers wasted and your business has not taken into consideration of my time, money and not being a priority. I have been given explanations about your workers leaving and other workers needing to finish a job that still hasnt fixed my engine. Thats a business issue not mine.
I respectfully decline your actions now and am giving a deadline of this month to be fixed or I will tow my truck from your business and take this further to court.Initial Complaint

On October 21, 2022, I went to this workshop for the first time with problems that water could be heard running and the nozzle was stuck below and the air conditioning does not work, they checked it and told me that it was the thermostat hours later they told me that it was also the radiator to which they charged me ******* dollars and they fixed it on the third day I had to take it because it was still the same with the same problem to date I have taken it 7 times for the same thing then they put the catalytic converter on me which they told me they were parts of the dialer The next day I took it back because the engine light came on again and the water could also be heard again and the temperature gauge stuck again due to the catalytic converter. I paid $1,141.59 and they changed it and when they called me telling me that this time Yes, it was from the dealer when I went to pick it up, he charged me again 650 dollars more and I asked him what happened with the guarantee and he told me that the catalytic converter was from the dealer, which cost more and I gave him hehe I don't have money to pay more, you have to wait until April 3rd. He told me that it was okay that he couldn't do anything. stop a robbery what are you doing with meBusiness Response

We informed the customer our options for catalytic converters and they chose the aftermarket option as the *** option at the time was on back order. We told them that all our parts and labor we do are under warranty for 12mos/12k miles and if they have issues to come in so we can address it. We were never able to replicate the "water noise" the customer heard and 3 technicians drove it multiple times to verify. We were very open with the customer and responsive and accomodating to him. When the *** catalytic converter was available, we only charged him the difference to in price and there has been no communication from him at all so we assume the vehicle is fixed.Initial Complaint

I brought my car in as of 11/21/2022 with the concerns of my car smoking no other concerns at all. I was then shown by a technician at Half Price Auto Repair that it was a coolant hose leak causing it to smoke and it was replaced. The very next day my car started smoking again as if none of my concerns were taken care of so I took it back. Where they diagnosed my car with more issues that they said was the cause of the car smoking which were to replace the oil feed seal and pipe as well as the camshaft actuator seals. I took my car home again after the repairs only to experience more smoke coming from my car basically my concerns still havent been addressed and this time they advised more issues that can get rid of the smoke that concluded removing and replacing the engine cooler and removing and replacing the crankshaft oil seal when I picked up my car and drove it not even for a hour after leaving I noticed my car was jerking badly that wasnt happening before as well as the service traction light popping up and the check engine light being on my car that was never there before when I brought it to the service advisor ***** attention he said to bring it back and they will take a look since they were still there and when they did they test drove it and told me that I need a entirely new manifold intake which didnt make sense to me because it was never a issue before and that it was going to cost me more money after being there from 11/21/22-11/26/22 a whole week of repairs on my car within the shop. I also noticed that they forgot to put my engine cover back on and that just let me know that during repairs a lot of things couldve been forget that is causing the new issue of my check engine light being on and instead of fixing the issue that was never there before they sent me home with no engine cover.Business Response

We got a hold of the customer and had her bring the car back. We made the repair at a very reduced rate to take care of the customer. There were multiple leaks and issues and we always start with the obvious and dont want the customer to do more work than necessary. We went step by step and cleaned all areas. We have made the repair and the customer is satisfiedInitial Complaint

Around October 1st I took my car to half price auto part. They looked at it quoted me about *****. I didnt have that amount. My car was unmovable due to the problem my car was having it was stalling. I told them when I would have a way to move it I would. He told me he was charging me $75 to take my car from them. I didnt understand why when they did nothing for me. I told *************** pay them when I got the money. I wasnt able to get the money until November 8th. I was also keeping in contact with ****** letting him know what was happening Im a single mom and we both caught *****. I wasnt able to work, even leave my house for two weeks. So today November 8th at 10 am I went and picked up my car. My window was completely shattered. Wasnt like that when I dropped it off he told me it happened two days ago and didnt call me to tell me. I also paid him the $75 that I didnt have to give to get my car out and I find out that he let my battery completely die. He took out two plugs that brings power to the car so when I went to pick up the car I wouldnt be able to take it. I asked about it and he said I was accusing him of something even though this company was the only one who had access to my car. Instead of me paying ***** to fix my car Im looking at over ***** to fix my car now due to the negligence and unprofessional customer service of ********************.Initial Complaint

I took my 2007 ****** Quest to Half Price Auto Repair on ********** Rd. for a engine replacement with parts movement from old engine and to make my car emissions worthy. After reading various reviews all singing the praises of their services rendered decided on taking a chance on them. My Wife also had taken her ******************** as well for Muffler repair also, their repair I have found out 3 months later was done incorrectly/poorly. As the main pipe separated from the first catalytic converter due to not being welded or clamped in correctly. After 1 month of no actions and my help in finding the replacement engine, I had my engine, new parts form the old engine (sans my new shocks and timing chain.) I was told my car was done. I had new plug, injectors, Throttle body, MAF/4x O2 sensors, PCV valve, and coil packs. I was told my car was done.My car 'was' running, and the check engine light was off. I was told that the van had been put through 3 drive cycles so it was safe for emissions testing. Right at pickup I had acquired new issues however. Steering wheel/alignment was off badly, shocks not replaced (They were still in van), AC fan was not blowing/charged (they broke the lower R-145 hose), power steering pump now leaking, and after driving the car for testing myself ~ the check engine light popped. The van had NOT passed any drive cycles or was emissions ready. I called in wanting these issues redressed and fixed. I brought back the Van and left it for 1 more week while I was away on business to be repaired. During this week, they did nothing till the Friday I was returning. They bought high end spark plugs saying the ones I had were not good enough. I said yes to pay for the plugs. On pickup I was told 3 drive cycles were completed again. I went to state testing, they had not done even 1 cycle and the Engine light popped on as I left. Steering, shocks, and AC not fixed. AC fan ok but hose damaged. Also the internal wheel well plastics were not attached.Business Response

Re: BBB Complaint 17936359
Customer *************************** brought the vehicle in to our shop and his concern was that the engine was smoking and there was a loss of power. He also stated that another repair facility had rebuilt the top end (cylinder heads, valves, gaskets, etc..) but had not performed any additional work or repairs on the bottom end (engine block, pistons, piston rings, rods or rod bearings). We diagnosed the concern and found internal engine failure and oil consumption likely related to worn piston rings. due to the mileage of the vehicle, *******, we recommended engine be replaced with new or used engine or rebuilt completely. ******** acknowledged and agreed with our diagnosis but the estimates we provided were too high as he had already paid a lot of money for previous repairs to another shop. We looked for less expensive engines and after extensive searches we found none in his price range. He then asked if we would install an engine if he provided one. I told him we would but would offer no warranty or guarantee on parts or labor should the engine provided be inoperable or defective. He agreed and proceeded to order a used engine and had it shipped to our facility. Once it arrived we proceeded to install said engine and transfer necessary parts such as intake system and gaskets, throttle body, exhaust manifolds, etc... He requested we transfer spark plugs, fuel injectors, ignition coils from original engine because he had just replaced them. we recommended we use new ones not previously used because due to engine condition they may be compromised and not perform properly. He declined and insisted we use those parts as he requested. He also requested we replace the front shocks because he believed once we had the engine out it would only be "three bolts to take them out and put the new ones in. He had already purchased new ones and were in the vehicle. He also said if that wasn't the case to not and he was going to incur more labor charges to dismiss that request and he would have that done later. The engine replacement procedure did not allow any easier access to the shocks so we did not replace them to avoid additional labor costs to ****************
Once the repairs were completed, *************** was notified of completion and also notified of concerns found during road test. The engine performance was satisfactory but the exhaust had an exhaust at the * pipe due to *********** OEM catalytic converter that had been previously installed (not by HPAR). The drive cycle was completed except for heated catalyst monitor that requires multiple drive cycles dependent on vehicle temperature and ambient temperature to set or fail. The air conditioning system was not blowing cold due to restriction in the system from sealant used to possibly repair a leak (not by HPAR) and therefore we did not evacuate and recharge the system to prevent our machine from being contaminated. *************** was advised of this.
When the vehicle was brought in originally, it was not in a state where it could be driven to know if there was pre-existing suspension, emissions, transmission or air conditioning concerns. The battery was also dead and made it so that the vehicle computer had no malfunction data to base any diagnosis or gather any data from it.
*************** returned because the check engine light was on. We diagnosed the problem and found misfire codes stored and recommended again we replace the spark plugs with the correct spark plugs specific to the vehicle. Once replaced the vehicle was test driven and passed one drive cycle, not three as customer stated, except again for the catalyst system, which he was made aware of. He contacted me a few days later to notify me that the check engine light had come back on, I asked him to bring it back and he did not but he did call me to tell me that the check engine light had turned off and he was going to take it to emissions testing before the light came back on with hopes that it would pass emissions test. After this conversation I have not had any contact or communication with ****************
All services rendered were completed as agreed and concerns were addressed as originally stated. I do not agree that any refund is warranted in this matter.
Please contact me if there are any further questions regarding any specifics or any issues that were not addressed in this response.
Thank *ou
