They fixed the issue but I was severely overcharged like most other people have reported. Quoted nearly $4k to replace bearing and springs on 2 doors and I was pressured into signing at the time of quote. I am a young female first time home owner who called a company I thought was reputable, honest and fair. I wish I wouldve gotten other quotes and saved myself thousands of dollars and my dignity. Even though the work was completed nearly 2 years ago I am writing this now because Ive seen others report and share their similar experience. Im sad to learn Im not the only one who was taken advantage of.

I cant believe I fell for this companies sales tactics and wish I would have been able to tak the time to do some price compairisons I contacted A1 soley because of their advertisements on the local channels. I assumed that they would have very competitive pricing and great service based on the speil they talked about on the comericals, Boy was I incorrect in my assumptions. This company is out to make as much money as they can off of people that are'nt aware of their overpriced products, and, on the job additional sales pitches. When I tried to leave for work I discoveded the spring on my door had broke. I called A1 to find out if I could get a service call to replace a garage door torsion spring. They said that they could have someone come out later that afternoon. Great I thought, my wifes car is in the garage theres no way she's going to be able to open the door open and she's got appointments to ge to that afternoon. Set up the appointment and let her know that it was taken care of. Long story short I ended up paying over $2000.00 for 2 springs and 3 bearings to get the door up and running again. All the time my wife kept telling me to call other companies and check their prices. No I said, I'm sure their all around the same price, and he's here right now. Big Mistake!!! After it was all done i kept having a feeling about the tranaction. The next day I decided to call around, picked 10 other door companies in my area and got quotes from a little over $200 to $500 for the most expensive price. After that shock I decided to check prices of parts and was realy blown away best prices for replacement springs went for $40 up to $167 for the most expensive I could find. New set of bearings were only $8 bucks each.I felt so ripped off !!! I thought how could a company be so greedy. If I hadn't been so rushed I would have never done business with this Company. Dont make the same mistake I made, do your research!!!

Classic example of a female senior citizen being taken advantage! A-1 has obviously trained their staff to smooth talk in order to ***** the customers financially with the cost of repairs. With my car stuck in the garage that had one broken spring and no way to open it, ***** explained that 2 springs would need replaced along with 2 cables and gave me a quote of $1900+. Exorbitant pricing to say the least, but I felt trapped knowing I could not get my car out. I signed the contract and after starting the work, ***** approached me with additional costs for bearings. I let him know I felt I was being taken advantage of. He responded that he removed some charges from the original quote so with the added bearings, the bill would "only" be $2000+. Funny, how he was able to remove some charges, yet still milk me for an additional $100! I looked all of these parts up online and in choosing the most expensive prices I could find, I only came up with no more than $400 in parts. Looks like I paid over $1600 for 1.5 to 2 hours labor. What a scam! I will never call A-1 again for repairs. AND I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN PROVIDED WITH A RECEIPT OR ITEMIZED INVOICE FOR THE $2000 REPAIR BILL THAT I PAID!!

My garage door would not go down unless I held the wall remote button down and held it. I thought it was the sensors but was told that I needed a new motor. They installed it and charged me $1500. After they installed they told me that the springs needed to be replaced or the new motor would burn out. They should have told me BEFORE replacing my motor. I am furious! They are shady and just want to keep charging you money. Terrible company. Wish I had read the reviews before calling.

A-1 service techs vs the salesman I got. Take your time, explore your options, and do your research, and find someone else - I should have. I went from a $70 diagnostic call to a entire replacement cost of $8700.00 that wasn't needed.I had A1 (****) come out to diagnose a garage door sensor problem on 3/22/25. $70 diagnostic fee to show up. $170 Service fee to replace the sensors. After new sensors wouldn't work, I was advised that I would need a new motor and was presented with two options. I elected to go with the $2000 (which is a 300% mark up) model because it had LED lighting and a garage camera - fancy.**** had removed the previous garage contractor sticker on my wall - a company that had replaced my springs 5 years prior. **** sold me on the idea that I needed new springs - weighing the door as it was disengaged from the track. It reminded me of a vacuum salesman with a gimmick. While I disagreed, knowing full well that my springs were replaced 5 years prior. I took the bait &shouldn't have.**** replaced the springs and indicated that the bearings between the springs would likely need to be replaced as well; but wouldn't know until he replaced the springs. Replacement bearings would cost "a couple hundred dollars as well". I was never shown damage to any springs or bearings. After installing $900 springs, he again showed me the garage door weight gimmick. This time, I noticed the door was locked on the track (it wasn't during his previous performance). There was daylight between his scale and the bottom of the garage door. Well, no kidding - the garage door was locked onto the track - it wasn't before. I felt like an idiot, so I didn't say anything. The only thing I needed at the time of the call was my sensors to work. They didn't work because the mother board on the motor was fried. Replacing the motor was all that needed to be done - nothing else. Everything else (the springs, the door, the bearings) was unnecessary.

Had them out to perform maintenance and inspection. The garage sounded like it was breaking when opening. Charged 300 dollars for so called maintenance and said noise was due to type of opener. Few months later and today the spring broke. Had a new company come out on a Friday evening, replace spring and mentioned rollers on the door needing replaced. Total charge 500 dollars and door sounds brand new. A-1 is out for money and not service. Would not recommend to anyone, especially

Spring broke in garage door so I called the number on sticker on the door. Long story short the charged me $1554.84 for two springs .262 x 2" X 51" and two 7 ft cables. I later looked online cause that to my thinking was way to much. I found a company and oriced out two springs with bigger wire .272 x 2" x 51" and two 7ft cables for a little under $500. A1 is way over priced and the try to upsell you on everything. This amounts to price gouging and they should be stopped

If you're a senior citizen you sure don't want to do any business with A1 Garage ************ they will make you feel like you have been hustled and scammed when everything is all through. They have enormous pricing for their work I paid over $1,600 for replacing a torsion spring assembly on my 8-ft garage door. That work and parts should have cost me between $600 and $700. I had *** as my technician, he was sociable enough and polite enough but I don't think he was honest about my problems. I now think he knew he was overstating my problems with my garage door but he went ahead anyway and reported other problems that I said no to. I have since had another garage door company come out and look at my problems and they said I didn't need to do anything.I know that part of it may be my problem because I didn't check reviews for A1 Garage ************. I only went on a sticker from years ago on my garage door and a TV commercial on my TV for garage tune-**** I now feel like I was truly scammed.

I called A-1 Garage Door to come out and look at my garage door because it all of a sudden stopped opening. This should have been a maximum fix of $600 and A-1 ended up charging us $1,600! We were completely gouged by these cheaters! DO NOT USE THEM!!! I called other garage door places and showed them the bill and they were all shocked! A-1 trains their employees to upcharge and "sell" the clients with bogus lifetime warranty promises that don't transfer. I asked the woman at A-1 that if I sold my house would the lifetime warranty transfer to the new owner and she said "no"...therefore it is NOT a lifetime warranty plan! There is absolutely no reason they should have charged us that much for the work that was done! They were here to give a full inspection of the door and its mechanisms, and they didn't even notice that the cover to the keypad was broken. At $1,600 I think they could have replaced the keypad...all they did was replace the springs (each spring was $580 for a total of $1,160) what, are they gold plated?! When I spoke with other garage door places, they ALL told me that springs would NOT cost that much! All I can say is DO NOT USE THEM!!! If they ***** all of their customers this way, then I don't know how they're even still in business!!! Do your homework before hiring these guys for your garage door needs!!!
