Beware:About a year ago we purchased a Spartan Odessey travel Membership.We were told that we could cancel the membership at the end of the yearly membership term or sell it to someone else (like to a relative) or to pay a $299 yearly renewal fee. We found the service did not meet our expectations and chose to not renew the subscription. Near the end of the subscription term we began receiving multiple calls and emails trying to collect the $299 renewal fee. On each call, we said we did not want to renew and the conversation ended. Finally, on one call, the caller stated that we are contractually obligated to pay the yearly renewal fee. At that point I called the company number ************ and talked to a very nice agent who informed me that indeed the contract required that we pay the yearly fee of $299, and that we could cancel the contract if we paid an additional $250. Also she did tell us that we could sell the contract to someone else. (I asked if I could go to a sales event and sell it there and her comment was "yes, but the event sales people may not be happy"). Finally, after still indicating my disapproval of the business model she indicated that I could simply not pay the renewal fee and just ignore the service ever more. (I suspect that let's them boost their current membership numbers) Also, you can reactivate your subscription by simply paying every past due yearly subscription costs. (I assume now I will also continue to receive annoying emails and phone calls about paying yearly fees forever). So this is just a warning to beware of anything you sign and to get every word and promise that any salesperson ever says to you written down before signing a contract.
