Received services from the company on 11/14/2024 after receiving a promo coupon in the mail for an air duct cleaning for $99.95. The fine print indicated the number of vents/openings this price included and we recognized that our house was slightly larger and were aware that we would be paying more than the promo (we estimated an additional $50) since they indicated on the coupon what each additional vent/line would cost. However, when they came out to perform the service, we were quoted nearly $700. After telling them we were no longer interested in their services since that is a scammy business practice and not in line with the promo, the company suddenly was able to knock out most of the additional charges. We ended up paying approx. $156 (which was about what we expected) after the technician called his boss and told him that we were no longer interested due to the exorbitant price increase and telling them that regardless of them coming down in price, we would still be reporting this as fraudulent business practices. The technician who performed the service was fantastic and we were pleased with the services results, but the promo they ran (and are still running now) is a predatory scam. The company should not be allowed to continue offering this promotion when they clearly are not going to honor it and will upcharge customers upon arrival.Initial Complaint

I contacted ******** about an ad for dryer vent cleaning for $69.95. After the representative got started I looked at the work order and there was an additional $99.00 for "Brushing" the lines. Although I felt this was a bait and switch, I told him to just perform the service and leave. As I was working from home at the time, I was not able to watch the representative work. I paid the bill as I wanted to just the company out of my house, but felt taken advantage of based on the $69.00 turning into $200.19 out the door. After the cleaner left my home, I looked at my Ring camera video and the cleaner went on my roof to take pictures, but never took brushes with him, so could not have performed "brushing out the lines". (I have downloaded all the video and can supply it). I called the company, explained the situation, offered to send the video. The representative just informed me that it was unreasonable that I was unwilling to let the person back into the house to "redo" to work and he refused to refund me for the work that was not completed. I informed him I would dispute the $99 + 15% service fee + associated taxes on my AMEX and would file a claim with the AGs office, and he informed me that he did not care. He refused to accept getting fraudulently charged for work that was not performed was reason enough for me not wanting them back inside my home. This company can not be allowed to operate in this manner and needs to be looked into for the "bait and switch" tactics and willingness to charge for services that were not performed.Initial Complaint

This company is scamming people all around *******. Please see **** reviews to support this statement. I fell victim to their scam on Saturday 10/12. The service is advertised online at 10 dollars per room at **************************** -> coupons, 2 men showed up at my apartment that I was moving out of and quoted me an unexpected $250 for 2 rooms. They explained extra steps were necessary because I had pets and I understood but my partner and I decided we did not want the service and tried to call it off. The guy who was doing all the talking **** ******** told me I would be charged a cancellation fee if I couldn't afford the service and he told me he would talk to his boss the discount the price. I was extremely intimidated and felt like a bad person for turning them down so I agreed to the price of ****** which is what my card was charged. My issue was not with the price. I signed off on the receipt before the service was completed. Once they finished they wrapped up their equipment and told me they were done and asked me to sign a survey. Once the carpet dried, there was an extremely foul odor of wet dog, which **** promised me would not happen with all the extra steps they would perform. I took a closer look at the carpet to find clumps of dog fur spread all over my floors. I took photos and videos of the dirty floors for proof and documentation. When I called to explain my frustrations, they told me there was no manager to speak to, they just had multiple supervisors. Nobody has claimed the business on ****. But **** told me he called his boss for the discounted price. The guy I was transferred to answered my complaint with Well that ***** maybe you shouldnt have signed those papers then.I found this company on ****** which has the business rated 4 stars based on thousands of reviews, this is extremely misleading and only after I had received service is when I found countless 1 star reviews on yelp from people who have experienced the same thing that I did.Initial Complaint

I ordered a duct cleaning from SteamKing. The service was terrible and the technician left after using unwanted chemicals in my home and left the property damaged. The sales *** lied directly to my face and provided no warnings regarding chemical use inside the house after explicitly stating that I had a 2 year old daughter and a pregnant wife living in the home. I was told by a different technician that the standard practice for washing and sealing duct systems require approx 6 + hours of being out of the house for the purpose of avoiding any inhalation of chemicals in the air. Further, the technician left my house damaged requiring a follow up drywall technician to fix the wall, left the house/floor a complete mess with dirt from drywall and vents dripping onto my ground and on top of one of my couches, and left the vents with paint chipped on the sides and not fastened properly. Regarding pricing and the 'sales' of duct cleaning with Steam King, I reached out to SteamKing for a simple duct cleaning and was initially quoted $99. When the technician came to the house, within 2 minutes, he determined the price to 'do the job' would be $749. I pushed back and he requoted at $500 immediately. Very bizarre transaction to say the least. As mentioned above, he told me there would be no chemicals (used for sanitization and sealing) that would impact my young child and pregnant wife. He never told us we needed to wait or delay our time in the house. It was clear the chemicals used caused everyone in the house respiratory issues following the service - headache/lightheadedness, restless night attempting to sleep, feeling nauseous, etc.Initial Complaint

On 7/17/2024 I was quoted around $100 dollars per the coupons that sparked my call. $9.95 per room any size for 5 rooms and a *** of $42 dollars for my stairs. On 7/18/2024 a technician came to my house and only did an ok job on 4 rooms and my stairs and after all said and done charged my credit card $319. No one authorized this. I made a plan with the person I set the appt with for a strict service and fee. After he was done he had my daughter sin a paper saying he did the work. I reached supervisory staff with the company who was super rude called me curse words and basically told me it was my word against his and to go ahead and fight it cuz he will win as he always does. This was *** and In talked to **** before him who was more composed but also offered no help kept tryng to tell me it was my fault.Initial Complaint

We had a coupon for duct cleaning for $99.95 and so I called them to set an appointment for that day,06/13/24.They said sure and quoted me a time. The guy showed up on time and seemed very friendly and had me sign our contract of what was to be done and the price. All of a sudden we had bird feathers flying out of our vents so he said that the coupon was voided and had charged $400 00 for, he said, removing a dead bird which he did not. Then he said that our other costs were for sealent. The bill came to $455.50 but then, and remember, he already had me sign it. Here is the real rip off.He tells us that we had leave for a half hour because he was going to spray chemicals in the vents and the smell would be to strong.I have cats and he told us they had to go to.I put them in our bedroom and like fools we left for 25 minutes. We came back and there was no chemical smell at all.I asked him and the smooth talker said his friend from his work came out and did it still evading my comment of not smelling any chemicals. All of a sudden our bill is $757.00.When we got back he almost ran out the door. Then we open the one vent he had opened up and it had one of those car fresheners on the inside of the vent. For that we were charged the other $300.00 and this guy was such a smooth talking thief and we fell for his b.s. The way he got us was having us sign for work he still had to do.We feel totally ripped off. This was such a lie on their part about everything.I should of read the reviews first. We always do, but not this time.I am checking my home to see if anything is missing because there is no way he did anything else while he made us leave because he was supposed to put sealant on and spray in the vents for any critters and of course the tiny air freshener inside only the one vent was a joke.He did nothing for almost $800.00 and we are fools to have signed a bogus contract.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! SO MANY BAD REVIEW.THEY ARE LIARS AND CONS AND WILL TAKE YOU FOR EVERY *****!!!Initial Complaint

Steam Kings has false advertising for their prices and refuses to let you pay the advertised price even though when you call to make an appointment they verify the coupon ad pricing with you over the phone. This company is a scam. They leave your carpets soaking wet and dont extract the dirty water back out of your carpets. On a verified $35 coupon they try to charge over $300.Initial Complaint

Paid the business $1,000 on 9/5/23 to clean vents and dryer vents. The work was never done and we have pictures. They were scammers. No business address on the credit card receipt nor their website. It says "moving to a new facility soon" as a mailing address on their website. Our dryer was taking 3 cycles to dry so we called Steam King to clean the vents. After they left, it still took 3 cycles to dry. We figured it was the dryer so we spent $800+ on a new dryer. Still didn't dry in less than 3 cycles. So we called ******* Steamer and they confirmed that the vents were all clogged and never cleaned. ******* Steamer took pictures - they confirmed the work was never done by Steam King. Steam King, the fraudulent company, did make us sign something saying the work was done but there was no way for us to see that because we can't go on the roof and into the dryer vents. They have no reviews on their website but plenty of bad reviews on YELP. They lied about doing the service. As senior citizens, we were taken advantage of.Initial Complaint

On 11/16/2023, we had Steam King from *****, **. Perform duct cleaning in our home. We had a coupon from the ValPak mailer. We called and received a quote of $175. When the technician arrived they went around the house and informed us it would be $960 for the service. After we refused the price the technician said he could do it all for $560. As part of their agreement we were to be shown photos of the dirt removed and cracks sealed. These photos were never provided and the Supervisor attempted to say the technician deleted them because we didnt ask. After they pulled hoses around the house we found damaged walls and dirty hand prints all over the walls. The technician had stated they would clean up, no clean up occurred. We found 2 chips in walls where they had hit the nozzle against the wall. Our house was ***************** painted last April, we left in May for the summer and just returned. The damage was caused by this company. They were to apply a sealant and disinfectant, there is no indication this service was provided.
