In June this year, we contracted with Temperature Control for multiple jobs, including replacing an old a/c unit with a heat pump and a two-minisplit system. The agreement included 1 year labor, 10 year parts, 10 year compressor, and 1 year safety & efficiency warranties. The cost was more than $24,000. Approx. 2-3 weeks after installation, we noticed water gushing down the roof from the heat pump. A tech came and said that the condensate pipe had come loose. It happened again in August, and again in October, and now again. The minisplits are also not working, showing an error code of "P6," so half of the house is freezing. We called for service, and a tech came out, said the minisplits were not working and he needed a computer tech person, then left. I had to call back to get them to return to actually repair the units. Neither system is working correctly, and neither has been repaired. Instead, I received an "option A" or "option B" invoice: one suggesting I pay almost $600 for "evap coil cleaning" and option B offering a 5-year service contract for $1300 to include the coil cleaning, "discounted" to be the same price as "option A". A third invoice for the service noted that our brand new a/c heat pump was "flat for refrigerant" and that they need to "return to redo compression fittings." When I called Temperature Control, I was told the service manager would give me a call back sometime in the next few days. I still have no heat on the half of the house with the minisplits, and apparently I have three non-working a/c units that are only six months old, and Temperature Control seems to be doing a bait-and-switch to sell more service plans without any intention of actually honoring warranties on shoddy labor and broken parts.
