I called CASA for an estimate for a leak repair. I discussed including possible additional work if the leak damage repaired stayed in budget. I was told it was standard practice for their business to give an estimate for "possible" work and that details/purchases could be determined after the leak was fixed. I was given a start date (Monday) and took off work to be available for the repair. I received an email after 8:30 pm on Friday before, asking to move the start date to Tuesday. Tuesdays are not easy for me to take off work, so I emailed wanting to delay the project a week. **** had already moved the date 3 times so my doing the same felt reasonable. I was told I would owe for the entire estimate if I did not allow Casa to start. This confused and shocked me so I shared the email and estimate with family. I was told by a contractor that this was not true and I was shown the difference between an estimate and a contract. I was advised by friends and family not to use CASA since they were not being honest with **** emailed to cancel with CASA and did not hear back until 5 pm (Tuesday). The company was billing me for materials for the bathroom that I did not authorize purchase of including $3,000 dollars of labor to drive to pick the materials up in two other cities. I live 2 miles from ********** / Lowes in my town and would never have authorized the added expense of driving. When I showed this bill for over $6,000 including "design" on a leak repair, my family was appalled. I filed a complaint with the CA Board since CASA demand payment for unauthorized driving/materials. CASA lied to the CA Board investigator about the project and that the estimate was 2 pages not one. CASA was given a warning from the Board but is still demanding payment for unauthorized purchases and driving out of town/labor. CASA has used these false claims to file a lien against my house, I do not want anyone else to be treated this unfairly.
