Took my car into their business in March 2022 for a smog check, it did not pass, they suggested repairs, I approved them in the amount of $570.52. Car passed smog and I got the certificate. Within a one or two the check engine light started coming back on and off, took the car back to them, now I needed a new catalytic converter, I approved that repair in the amount of $3,103.25, but when I picked up the car my radio/stereo would not play, they could not figure out the issue and advised me to take it to the dealer. Dealer replaced the radio, and advised it was unrelated to the other engine trouble. But when I picked up the car from the dealer, the check engine was on AGAIN. Dealer then ran diagnostic and guess what, it was the catalytic converter again! Dealer states it is falling apart and needs to be replaced! I just want a refund , because as far as I can tell Blue Ribbon Automovtive did not do anything to my car to fix the issues, and have only taken advantage of me!

The vehicle did come into shop for repairs, the radio did not work after repairs where made, why the stereo stopped working I  do not know what caused this, looked up info on google and found this is a common problem with these cars. Sorry customer had to replace stereo. As fair the catalytic converter being bad , this part has a five year 50,000. if vehicle has defective converter please advise customer to call me and parts and labor are covered under a warranty. I would like to see vehicle diagnoised that said vehicle has bad converter, there are several test that need to be performed in order to say vehicle has bad converter. My phone number is ###-###-####. ask for ****.

I am rejecting this response because:

Due to the dealer finding the same error code triggering for the catalytic converter AFTER Blue Ribbon Automotive supposedly fixed my car (P2096).  I did upload the dealer estimate that shows the error code and that the catalytic converter was "coming apart" but I will add to this response as well and the final invoice from the dealer that repaired the car.  Blue Ribbon Automotive had not one but two opportunities to fix my car properly and only charged my thousands of dollars each time I brought the car back.  Why would I give them another opportunity to charge me more money?  If you compare the dealer invoice, you will see where they used new parts (See parts numbers) to the Blue Ribbon invoice (there are no parts numbers), I believe they used old or recycled parts.  You will also see in the attached photos the junk weld job where Blue Ribbon Automotive welded onto the muffler, its coming apart and you can see moisture rings around the weld job!
I want a refund for the junk job done by Blue Ribbon Automotive for the Catalytic Converter and the sensor they supposedly fixed.
    total of $3673.77.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, WE DO NOT USE USED PARTS, IT IS NOT ALLOWED FOR SMOG REPAIRS, WE DID NOT CHRAGE CUSTOMER THOUSAND OF DOLLARS EACH TIME VEHICLE CAME INTO THE SHOP, IF CONVERTER IS COMING APART CUSTOMER NEEDS TO RETURN FOR WARRANTY ON CONVERTER. WE ARE NOT REQUIRED TO SUPPLY PART NUMBERS. AS FARE AS WELD IS CONCERED ONCE AGAIN THIS IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

I am rejecting this response because:

You want the converter back?  Because the dealer replaced it with new parts that are working just fine now.  I can bring back the one you installed, will I get my refund then?

    Business Response

NO , IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY, I HAVE TO DO TESTING ON THE CONVERTER IN ORDER TO PROVE TO MANUFACTOR OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS NOT WORKING THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED, IF CUSTOMER HAD CONVERTER CHANGED WITH OUT THESE TEST BEING PERFORMED THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT, I STATED IN MESSAGES THAT THE CONVERTER HAD TO BE TESTED FIRST BEFORE A WARRANTY COULD BE ISSUED. WOULD NEED OXYGEN SENSOR READING PRE AND POST CONVERTER, WOULD NEED TEMP READINGS ON CONVERTER IN LET AND OUT LET. I UNDERSTAND SHE WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE OUT COME , BUT WE HAVE TO FOLLOW POLICY IN ORDER TO GET WARRANTY APPROVED BEFORE REPAIRS ARE MADE.

I am rejecting this response because:

I was not going to give you the opportunity to charge me again for something that should have been fixed right the first-second time!  And where does it state on the paid invoice about the warranty for 50 thousand miles?  No one told me that when I picked up the car.
