I found renttoown.org while researching home buying options. I filtered the search to only include "rent to own financing". The website would not let my apply for financing. I found 5 homes that interested me, so I contacted the agents on the listings and asked if the owner would be open to a rent to own option as depicted on the renttoown.org website. All agents replied that they did not know how the home got on the website, and that rent to own is not an option. You have to pay to view these homes. If they are not going to provide the service they are offering, and in fact have false ads, isn't this breaking some sort of law?

We did not find this customer anywhere in our internal records. Therefore, they may be mistaking our brand for another rent-to-own site.

I am rejecting this response because:  I have a membership.  I actually have 2 because the website won't let me apply for funding, so I tried using my business email - still no success.  My other email address is ******************** which they have contacted me at at least twice.  So when they say they can't find me, they are either lying or not even looking.  I also didn't request a refund, that email came a few hours after my initial BBB complaint.  They cancelled and refunded my membership on their own (which is fine with me, the website is nothing but fraud anyway).

    Sincerely,

Apologies for the confusion as our initial response was sent out before being fully completed. After checking our records, the customer signed up on 04/26/25 for a Full Access Membership and was charged the $1.00 trial fee. The accuracy of our website is a top priority for us. We provide our subscribers with access to over one million listings. The information presented on our website is sourced through agreements with real estate data providers. These professionals work very hard to provide us with accurate and up-to-date information. Although we strive for perfection, there are occasional inaccuracies due to the status of listings changing (i.e.) sale or withdrawal of the property, delays in updating public records by banks and owners, or clerical errors. We are sorry that the listings the customer encountered did not have accurate information and that they were not able to find anything that suited their needs. This customer's account was canceled on 4/29/25 and the $1.00 trial fee was refunded.

I am rejecting this response because:  It's not acceptable.  They charge a fee just to look at the listings.  5 out of 5 agents that I contacted said that a rent to own option was never an option for the property.  So where are this websites "real estate agents" getting their information?  This is not "a few" listings, I could keep going and I bet I would get the same reply from every real estate agent I contact whose property is advertised on this website as having a rent to own option.  Frankly - this website if rampant with fraudulent claims of "rent to own options".  And that fraud needs to be addressed.  Not everyone would know to cancel the membership, how much money are they making off memberships that  haven't been cancelled by people who found the website unhelpful/inaccurate?

    Sincerely,

I signed up for the $1.00 7-day trial period on the 15th of January 2025 because I was moving and wanted to explore rent to own options. I'm just now going threw my bank statement and it showed they just took $12.49 out of my account on 4/16/2025 so I looked into it and they've been doing it since January off n on. I am a 53 year old Lady suddenly on my own trying to figure out how to do it alone again and I can't even make normal living costs without help and for them to just take like this from people??? I struggle just to eat and have a roof over my head so they must be millionaires by doing just doing this to a few people everywhere. This is wrong!!! On top of that I quit even looking on there for something because they NEVER had any information ANYWHERE on ANY Rent To Own Homes. Totally I'm showing they've gotten $43.00 since January for NOTHING!!! And they would've just kept doing it if I had not noticed.

This customer enrolled in **** with the additional listings option on 1/14/2025 for a 7-day trial. The customer never contacted us to cancel. As per the terms and conditions that the customer acknowledged, she was charged the weekly subscription fee after the trial period. Several of the weekly charges were declined by her bank, but were later accepted after a retry. The account has been canceled. As a one-time courtesy, we have refunded the account for all charges except the $1 trial fee.. The refund will be reflected within 2-3 days.

On 02/09/2025 signed up for trial of $1 with a 7 day trial period. Was charged $***** on same day as trial period and violated it's own terms of trial period. As well as made canceling service nearly impossible. No online canceling was available had to call a customer service line. Upon calling Was placed in a que line on hold several times with no response or interaction. After several weeks no nearly two months of dealing with no contact. And again charged for services (not rendered.) No. Emails, no notification via SMS, another attempt to call and cancel after another charge for just look at listing I can see for free on any real estate website.. .. was finally able to talk to a live person only to be given a scriptted answer and which the agent repeated before finally transferring to a "supervisor" after I mentioned contacting BBB. Was told a refund of ***** would be credited back to me as a courtesy. And account was cancelled. Have yet to see a refund in my bank. Did finally receive an email showing cancellation of account.

This customer's account was canceled on 4/1/25 and 1 charge was refunded for $12.49.  The other 2 charges were refunded on 4/7/25.

The customer was charged the $1.00 trial fee and a pre-authorization was processed on their account for the weekly membership fee of $12.29. As per the membership agreement that the customer acknowledged, we charged the credit card on file for the weekly membership after the trial ended.  All of these details, including trial length, trial price, the weekly membership fee, and cancellation process, are stated on the signup page, on our Terms and Conditions page, and in the Welcome Email that is sent out immediately upon sign up.

We provide multiple options for customers to cancel their accounts.  Customers may contact our customer service center during business hours, email us anytime, or use our Contact Us page online to cancel their service.  Our customer service center contact number and email can be found on our website.  In addition, our contact number is located next to the transaction on the monthly credit card statement.  Again, the customer did not contact us during the trial period. We record all calls for quality assurance purposes and document all contacts.

I paid renttoown.org to provide me with rent-to-own homes information, but the website continued to show me info/photos of foreclosures homes. I never received what I paid for.I then attempted three times to call their number and cancel my trial with the company, but I kept being placed on hold for extremely lengthy periods of times.I'm very discouraged by my experience with this company and I'm very paranoid because this company has my **** credit card info. While I subscribed for rent to own info, for a three day trial, I read that my trial ended on 3-9-2025 and that I must call or email to officially end my trial, and if I didn't this company would continue charging my card. Can you please help me get a refund and prevent renttoown.org from further using my **** card?

I did sign up to see properties with Renttoown.org and they charging their service. After month or two I wanted to cancel because there was no any what I was interested or properties was not anymore available. I have cancelled this service twice and they still keep charging. When I calling them, they told after I cancelled there was add-on still on with discounted price. My cancellation email clearly tells MY MEMBERSHIP WITH THEM is cancelled August 26, 24 and i can still use their site until september 18, 2024. They made up there is add on account still on and they keep charging $9.92/mo and they are not willing to admit, that is also canceled. If I cancel membership with some company, I assume all accounts with my name is cancelled.

RENTTOOWN.ORG is a scam! It will appear you're paying $1 for the trial period and $2 a month ************** will be charged $49 a month after the first week. Im assuming its in the fine print somewhere but nowhere transparent. Be persistent and you can get your money back. They will tell you they have a zero refund policy.then a special rate of $10/monththen a $25 refund.then a gift card for local shopping/restaurant's. Then they will tell you in order to apply for a refund you have to fill out a form and return it via fax/mail. Ridiculous.finally got my money backdont sign up for their service.

The customer signed up on 9/24/24 thinking she was signing up for $2.00 a month and claims there was nothing that indicated that it was $49.60 a month. The customer called on 10/2 to cancel and requested a refund.  Our agent explained about the refund policy and offered the customer the refund application, which she would not accept. The customer would not accept that we had a no refund policy and did not want any of the refund options provided. The call was escalated to the Help Desk where the agent canceled and refunded the customer.

Rent to own. Org charged $1 as a trial. I tried to cancel before and could not reach anyone. Today I finally got in contact them and the bank said they had charged me $49 extra. I asked rent to own why they charged me that much. They was saying that I had a full membership. I did not ask for a full membership.I had to tell the representative several times I did not want it and that I wanted it canceled. She continued to try and persuade me over and over.

The customer called 10/1/24 to cancel her account claiming she had tried to cancel previously and that she did not authorize the full membership but only signed up for the $1.00.  The agent did give her the benefits of the service and discount offers before canceling the account.  The customer did not request a refund during the call.

No record of any calls from the customer prior to the call on 10/1/24.

I have contacted this company through their emails method of contact as well as a few emails from my email account, first requesting a prompt cancellation of the subscription that shouldn't have even evolved from trial to membership. I signed up for their $1.00 free trial on April 2nd. I found it sketchy when I got charged another $1.00 for some other random thing I didnt sign up for. I called and they told me they cancelled the subscription and my card wouldnt be charged, but if I changed my mind, I could get a discounted subscription. I never told them to reactivate the subscription, but I just got charged $19.84. These guy charged my card after I clearly told them to cancel the subscription. I received an email saying that my subscription was cancelled. This is a scam.

The customer signed up for *************** on **/02/2024 and called the same day to cancel when he saw he was billed for 2 $1.00 charges, a full access membership trial and additional listings. He confirmed he signed up for full access membership but insisted he did not sign up for anything additional. Our agent cancelled the Additional Listings and offered him a discounted full access membership to which he agreed and was informed that his trial would be good until 04/09/2024 when the discounted monthly membership fee would be billed. The customer's account has been cancelled and a refund issued for the $19.84.
