My daughter attended a 5-day camp in summer 2024 in ******. She was a 15-year-old high-school sophomore, good (but not great) at math, with an interest in learning more about computing and AI, but not much experience with it. I was rushed into it by her last-minute expression of interest. With more time, I'm sure I could have found MUCH better options. Instead, I flushed $1800 down the ********* was nothing like advertised. They followed pre-recorded videos, with a live instructor available to answer questions, but not actually teaching the kids. It was self-paced. (In other words, she was basically doing ******************** style exercises, but with an older teenager nearby in case she needed help.) My daughter blew through the content in three days. They spent a lot of time outside under the trees (she brought a book to keep herself busy during the ***** hour lunch break). The instructor offered to see if she could find additional content for my daughter, but apparently didn't have much luck finding anything else - my daughter left early on Thursday, and convinced me that attending the final day would be a waste of everyone's time (it's early-release, with half the day taken up with parents seeing their kids' projects).I spoke with the manager shortly after, who didn't disagree with my assessment that this was poorly planned, and insufficient material. It felt like a bait-and-switch because there's NO LIVE INSTRUCTION. It's taken me this long to get over my anger at having been taken for a ride by *******, to be able to even write a review. If you have a younger teen, who just likes hanging out with birds-of-a-feather, and you need daycare in the summer, this might work. With a more mature kid, who's actually looking to learn, I can't think of a WORSE WAY TO SPEND YOUR MONEY.

Hi *******,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are deeply sorry to hear that your daughter's experience did not fulfill your expectations. I wanted to share my experience with ID Tech based on our recent adventure. I discovered an ******* ad in my newsfeed late in 2023 and thought it would be a fantastic opportunity for our two 12-year-old sons. We chose the ********* campus because one of my sons expressed interest in ********* so we signed them up in December 2023 for the battlebots overnight camp during the last week of July 2024.After enrolling, I researched ******* and came across quite a few negative reviews, and I was initially disheartened by the feedback. There were a few occasions over the next six months when I seriously considered canceling. However, I recognized that people often voice complaints more than compliments, and I decided to stick with our plans.Drop off was a breeze and when we arrived at pickup is appeared all the kids were having a good time. We waited until they were in the car to hear all the details. In summary, they loved the overall experience. They had positive feedback about the instructors, their peers, the food, and the classroomsno complaints whatsoever. They appreciated the diversity among the 75 campers, which was a refreshing change for us since we live in central ************, where diversity is limited. They even exchanged contact information with a few new friends and expressed interest in returning, likely to explore a different subject, such as ************ conclusion, while I typically dont write reviews, I hope this helps other parents considering this camp amidst negative feedback. Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding: my kids had a blast and want to go back, making it money well spent. While not everyone will have a perfect experience for various reasons, its important to remember that some people tend to complain more than they share positive experiences. Take reviews with a grain of salt and keep the bigger picture in mind. Also, I plan to post this review on multiple sites in the event you see it more than once. Enjoy!

I registeted my child for the ** python coding class and paid $1300. It was a 5 day course. Tje course was nothing what was advertised. They absolutely teach you nothing. This is such a scam. I am extremely dissappointed. The so called class was self paced but even in that it was a joke as far as the content went. Its really sad to see hard earned money going to absolute waste. PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THEIR CAMP.

Extremely overpriced. Basically a money grab operation. My son attended 2 days out of 5 of the ** Tech/Battlebots camp at *****************. The temperatures were above 95F, and yet they kept the kids outside for half an hour each day. There was no snack or social breaks. No coding. Computers were not up to date and networks weren't working. My son was left to his own devices. I couldn't put him through more of this misrepresented and poorly managed "course". Then we've learned that there are no refunds/credits/day switches within 14 days for any reason, even if your kid get sick. The customer service guys give you a runaround like a bad car dealership, promising to call back and never calling back. Avoid this business!

Not a good overnight camp. They will leave your kids in a room with computers for 3 hours after day camp. Then send them to bed. Disappointed. And when I complained they said they had shaved ice one day.

Overpriced tech camp that does not live up to their promises. We paid for our 3 sons to go to a one-week Mon-Fri ************** camp in ******* at the *************** campus. The older 2 boys were grouped in the same class. The first day was a wash, with mostly instructions given. Some coding teaching was done for the next 3 days. But mostly, the kids were doing the assignments on their own on the computers with minimal teaching from the camp counselors (college students). My kids told me the college students were playing on their phone for most of the time, just barely supervising the kids. The last day, Friday, was a half day and was spent mostly playing and wrapping things up. My youngest (8 years old) learned very little during his class. Most of the time, he was allowed to play Minecraft in the name of learning. I paid more than a thousand dollars per kid, for about 3 days of instructions, and the kids did not learn much. We felt it was a waste of money.

I enrolled my child in the overnight VR Design with Unity and Meta Quest 2. We also attended ID Tech at Rice last year, and it was very different than the camp was this year. They are clearly trying to cut costs while still charging a premium for the camp session. My daughter's dorm room had a moldy shower, and the door opened to an outside walkway. She returned home with hives due to an allergy from showering in moldy water. She also lost a lot of weight because the food was disgusting this year. Though I was told by the camp that the boys and girls were seperated, some boys had a dormroom two doors down from my daughter. The boys were so close that, when I dropped her off, we were worried that they had accidentaly put her on the boys side. After checking with counselors, we were assured that we were in the right place. Later that week, my daughter's roommate alerted a counselor that my daughter had been sneaking out to see the boys, and the boys had been in my daughter's dorm room. Lights out was at 10 pm, and students were expected to stay in their rooms. At that point the counselors went to sleep. When I asked the camp director about this, she told me that the counselors needed to rest and prepare for the day. While I understand this, I also know it is common sense that you don't leave middle and high schoolers completely unchaperoned after 10 pm. What were they thinking? I went through my daughter's text messages, and it was clear kids were running all over that dorm at night. I am addressing my daughter's behavior at home, but I am appalled the camp didn't decide to have some sort of monitor in the halls at night when they decided to have co-ed dorms. The director put this decision on ****, stating that they never know what kind of facilities they will have. They advertised that there was parent's day at the end, but there wasn't. Since all of the scripts the kids were learning were pre-written by the camp, it didn't really matter.

I am recently informed my personal info was found in a data breach of ID Tech. Next problem is, I do not recall any business relationship with ID Tech. Certainly not a coding bootcamp or whatever the business does. Go away, ID Tech. Leave me out of your databases.
