On Jun 18, 2022 I made a reservation at the casa del sol after finding the motel on HotelTonight. I made the reservation through the business' own website for one night for my husband and myself for the night of 6/22/22. Because I found the listing on HotelTonight, I figured it was already vetted and fine. After I made the reservation, I read through many many reviews that call into question the safety and cleanliness of the facility. The reviews made me so uncomfortable that I wasn't willing to stay there any longer so I called to get clarification on the cancellation policy. The confirmation email that I got from the business stated that cancellations needed to be made 72 hours prior to the reservation in order to avoid penalty but did not explain what the penalty would be. When I called the front desk, the woman who answered the phone hung up on me when I asked about cancellation, and I had to call back 8 times before someone picked up the phone again. When the same woman answered, she gave me the email address and eventually the phone number to contact the mgr off property. When I called the mgr, and explained my concerns and question she told me that I shouldn't be traveling at all and that wasn't her problem and that she was going to charge me the full balance of my reservation and that "we'll be sending some bad things your way about that." Then she hung up on me. I would have let the room charge go and even the extremely rude tone Tia, the mgr, took with me from the beginning. But the threat is entirely unnecessary. Her phone number is 805-570-1491. I would like the charge refunded because of the threat, specifically.
