New roof work was done on Saturday August 31 2024 and Sunday September 1 2024. Made a contract to get my roof repaired with Lightning Roofing **** with phone number ************** and email ******************************** for the amount of $17,982.00. This included reroof remove 27 sq. of 2 layer of shingles and old felt. replace any rotted sheating with 7/16" OSB plywood. Replace any rotted 2x6 fascia and repaint to desired color. Re-nail sheathing ensuring the roof is within the standards of California requirements. Labor warranty of 5 years. Material warranty of 30 years. All new roof work was done but in the process the workers damaged 3 outdoor sensor-motion solar flood lights that were installed around the perimeter of the home on the fascia. Wiring was damaged and non repairable. We also paid an individual to come clean around the home since after the work was done a mess was leave behind by the construction men. My husband communicated this to **** via text message on Monday September 2 2024 at 1153 a.m. at ************** and also sent him pictures of the damages, the same day he responded at 1215 p.m. "... let me address this to the office so we can resolve these issue. Let me also see if I can do something to cover the costs of the cleaning labor and solar lights." but **** never followed through. On Wednesday September 11 2024 my husband try contacting **** again and sent him a copy of ****** message of what he said he would do for us but no attempt to contact us to resolve this matter. We would like for Lightning Roofing **** to buy for us new 3 outdoor sensor-motion solar flood lights and we will do the installation ourselves. After that takes place we want no contact from this company, we are very disappointed since it seems they just wanted our business make the money and have nothing to do with us. I sure hope that they follow the contract in the future and ensure us they will follow-through in the 5 yr. labor warranty and the 30 yr. material warranty.Initial Complaint

To Whom This May Concern, In the last week of May '22, Lightning Roofing, represented by J*** R***, completed a roof repair job, which was paid in full at the end of May '22 and included 5-year labor (installation) and 30-year materials warranties. On Fri, 3/10/23, I contacted J*** @ ***-***-**** about recurrent leaks in the areas that were repaired and inquired when he could send someone over to take a look. He mentioned he'd send someone to take a look on Sat 3/11/23. No one showed up, and I called him on Mon 3/13/23; he apologized b/c the company was busy w/ work. He said he'd send someone on Tues, but no one showed up again. After speaking w/ J*** on Tue 3/14/23, he said he'd send someone on Wed 3/15/23, at which point, he stopped responding to texts or calls since no one showed up on Wed 3/15/23. After this, I called the company's alternate number, ***-6*******, on Fri 3/17/23, and spoke to M**** who scheduled for a representative to take a look at the roof that day. A rep. did take a look on Fri 3/17/23, and I followed up w/ M**** on Tu 3/28/23 to find out what the rep. discovered. Unfortunately, she said she needed to send out another rep. again on Mon 4/3/23 to investigate the areas of concern as identified on the roof pictures. Unfortunately, it's uncertain whether anyone showed up on Mon 4/3/23, and I followed up on the inspection status w/ a couple phone calls and texts on Thu 4/6/23 and Fri 4/7/23, leaving voicemails, which also remain unreturned in addition to the unreturned texts. I'm requesting timely repair of the leaking roof w/ regular communication between a Lightning Roofing representative and me regarding information of the repair, including st*** date, progress, and completion, at no additional cost to me in accordance w/ the warranties detailed in the attached quote. Thank you for your help in resolving this matterBusiness Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 1******3, and my acceptance of the company's response is conditional on it actually following through and fixing the persistently leaky roof. Firstly, I disagree with their narrative, esp. regarding their contact (phone calls/messages), since I sought help from the BBB only after reaching out multiple times via texts and calls to both **** and M**** without a response for weeks at a time from either one of them. Although it's extremely unfortunate that one of their workers passed, it takes less than a couple minutes to compose a text or leave a voicemail to inform me of what's happening. Also, there is no evidence from my call history that anyone called me after March 30, 2023, whereas I called ***-******** and left a voicemail on April 10, 2023, that remained unreturned.Regarding the date and time for someone to take a look, Tues, May 31, 2023 @ 9am works.
Please confirm that the date and time works for the company.
Thanks,
A**

Per our discussion this morning, Lightning Roofing, Inc's rep *****, consistent w/ her past behavior of non-responses or, at best, extremely delayed, reality-distorted responses, chose to not send someone last Wed 5-31-23 @ 9a as requested on my prior, conditional request. This unaccountable and rather flaky behavior on the p*** of the company reflects poorly on its current, dubious A+ rating. Please provide help in resolving this ongoing (since 4-11-23), unresolved matter and confirm receipt of this email.Thank you for your assistance,***Business Response

Good morning, I spoke to ****** from the BBB today June 13th at approximately 9:30am and explained to her I was never relayed the information that *** ******* was expecting someone to go out on May 31st 2023 at 9 am. The notifications from the BBB were being sent to *******************.****@gmail.com. I myself do not have access to that email. My direct email address (which is the company email) is *******************@gmail.com. As of today, the email address was updated. Any and all of our estimates along with roof inspections, jobs or repairs for the week are scheduled through our house call pro system that we've incorporated to our company within the past few months. With that system when I schedule anything for a specific day or time, the job is sent to whomever I dispatch it to and they get an immediate notification that they have been scheduled. The customer also gets an immediate notification that so-so is scheduled to go out on specific day and time. That is how we keep record of our estimates, jobs, repairs etc. This process was never st***ed for the visit Mr.******* was expecting on May 31st. The first time I was aware that he was expecting someone on May 31st was on June 12th 2023. We can schedule Mr.******* for Tuesday June 20th at 9 am. If that doesn't work for him please let me know what date and time works best and will arrange for someone to be there.
