Called Reliable Appliance Service for a diagnostic of my Dryer, they charged $100.00. They came out on 11/27/24 and misdiagnosed the dryer as needing a new main control board estimated to cost $500 to $700 plus $200 install, and take 1 to 2 weeks to get the parts. I declined since a new dryer was $700. Looked up diagnostic on web and turns out it was simply locked, I unlocked and dryer works perfectly. Seeking reimbursement of $100 fee. Called them and they promised to not cash the check and have a manager call me, 2 weeks later still no call and now check has been cashed. Need reimbursement for mis-diagnostic.Business Response

Our records indicate no promise of not depositing the check for our visit was made. However, since you are claiming we have misdiagnosed the issue and do not have an invoice from the other service provider, would you be willing to have us come out to confirm the issue was resolved?Initial Complaint

Service requested for a dryer unit number mod wdg94heac1serial number m31701012. The unit was going on and off. Multiple attempts were required to complete a dryer cycle. Without performing diagnostics, the technician stated the motor was broken. Parts and service would be more expensive than replacement. He could replace the unit for$1300. When asked how the diagnostic was performed, he said see it does not turn on. That is what I need to know. A replacement motor costs$159. I called 9/15/24 to speak to a manager. He told me that my complaint was threatening with death. I told him i had purchased a new dryer. I wanted to fix and donate the broken dryer. I promised him a bad review on ********. He promised to debunk anything i said with video of the service call. There was no diagnostic service performed.Business Response

We are glad to learn you've used our diagnostic to determine feasibility of the repairs. Although it sounds like you are questioning our approach, the diagnosis we provided were correct, which is why the service call fee was collected.Customer Answer
Date: 09/19/2024
The issue was always how the diagnosis was made. The technician simply demonstrated that the on switch did not work. I called to verify with a manager that the diagnosis was done. He refused to provide that information stating it would only be provided, if services were performed. He dramatically accused me of making death threats. My purpose was to fix and donate the dryer, if the repairs were under$200. In keeping with that, ** got a second opinion. The repairs would not be cost effective. The customer ********************** and ethics of Reliable is not to standard. The community deserves a warning that customer ********************** is not good. I am not happy with the finding. The diagnostic findings should have been shared with me. Reliable should pay for the second opinion which cost $79.00.Business Response

We initially called this business because our fridge stopped cooling. During his initial visit, technician **** stated that there is an issue with air circulation, and that he can either repair a part in the fridge, or replace the part completely. He stated that he is 100% sure he can successfully repair whatever part that was causing the bad air circulation. We agreed. He unplugged the fridge and stated that it needs to melt down until he comes back the next day to repair.Upon his second visit to do the repair, **** spoke in a rude and demanding tone. He went to the back of the fridge to do the repair, which took no more than 4 minutes at most. He barely communicated and gave minimal details on what exactly he did. At this point, we have paid $300 to this company, for nothing. A couple of days after this supposed repair, the same fridge issue came back. We called the company and stated our issue. We were told we will get a call back, we never did. We called again, and the representative we spoke with stated there is no record or notes about our previous call, but that a manager will reach out. We then got a call from ****** the supervisor. Upon hearing my complaint, he stated that **** is nice and goes to church, no way is he rude and that he has 8 year experience. We asked for a refund, ****** said the technician will have to come back out and confirm the initial fix did not work before there can be any refund. Once the technician came back, we asked him to not work on the fridge as we no longer trust them. We asked him to just confirm that the issue persisted and refund us. He was again not clearly communicating. He confirmed the issue was not fixed and stated we will be contacted by manager. A couple days later, we messaged the manager for updates, and he told us the fridge door was kept open, and that is why the issue is not fixed, therefore no refund. This is false, and this reason was only mentioned 3 days after ***** last visit. We also got hung up on.Business Response

Unfortunately, we are unable to consider your request for a refund at this time because the services have been rendered in accordance with our contractual agreement. As we have attempted to explain, the issue persists due to overfilling the compartment with food items and leaving the door open.Customer Answer
Date: 09/19/2024
Since we purchased this fridge, it has always had the same amount of produce in it. And always worked fine.
If this business is claiming that the reason their fix did not work is because the door was left open and fridge overfilled, which are all untrue, then are they claiming that closing the fridge and putting less items will fix it? Because that is untrue either.
and why was this reason not communicated to us during the technicians recall visit?
therefore, i demand a full refund of the money this company practically stole.

We collected payment for services rendered. Try defrosting your appliance and not stuffing it.Customer Answer
Date: 09/24/2024
so first, the tech says his repair will 100% fix the issue. He did not mention any stuffed fridge or unclosed doors as a fix.
his repair lasted 2 minutes and did NOT fix the issue. And in all his visits there was no mention of a stuffed fridge or improperly closed fridge door. The manager told us there cannot be a refund unless the technician comes back out to verify that his repair did not work. The tech did come back out and confirmed this.
Days later, the manager messages us that the door wasnt closed properly. And now in these replies you add another reason, the fridge was stuffed. None of this was mention by the technician. And none of it is true.and even if you use this excuse, the fridge is closed properly and isnt stuffed. And the issue for which we called you persists. I demand refund for services rendered that did not fix the issue.

The service call fee you've paid was for an estimate and diagnosis. If only replacing the " $10 knob" would rectify the issue, we are certain it is a task you could accomplish yourself. Feel free to get a second opinion on the matter.Initial Complaint

On 9/3/24 I called this company to take a look at my broken ** refrigerator. They sent someone out right away. The technician came into my home, opened my fridge, closed my fridge and then wrote me an invoice for $1800 saying it needed a new compressor. As he was standing there, I googled how much a compressor costs and it costs $200. He didnt even test or look at anything! I thought he was joking. I told him to leave my house and I will not be paying that. He made me pay him $100 service fee, which I did solely because he made me uncomfortable and I wanted him to leave my house. The copy of my invoice, you cant even read. I took a picture of his invoice and asked for his business card. He did not have one. I then called the company to complain that he didnt do anything and they said that they would have a manager call me and they hung up on me. I called back and got another person on the phone to which they said the same thing and hung up on me.Business Response

I contacted this company due to an issue with my microwave outside of warranty period. Reliable appliance service diagnosed the issue as being the mother board. They charged me $574 for the part and repair. That same night my appliance began having issues with the display screen dimming to the point of being almost non visible and black lines appeared across the screen. The next day, my appliance was completely dead again. I called the company and reported the issue. They sent the same technician who claimed there were two bad components hed missed the first time and charged me 100 dollars for parts and repair. That same night, the same issue happened again, the board dimmed to the point of being almost non visible and black lines appeared across the screen. The appliance did not completely shutoff this time. I called the technician and he said, *** I dont know what else might be the problem. He agreed that a new technician should come out. The owner of the company (***) called me and said the issue must be the display board and that he was going to charge me another 500 dollars to replace parts and repair the issue. I told him this was bad business practice and asked him to guarantee his work and fix the problem. He said no, he would only consider a partial refund of $150 or $200. This isnt proper business practice. I just want this company to guarantee its work and fix my appliance.Business Response

Our area supervisor, ***, provided an estimate for additional work because we were initially called out for a non functioning microwave and not a dim display screen. However, our office manager, *****, will contact you to discuss additional options.
