    Pattern of Complaint:
Complainants generally allege problems with canceling services. Several explain that they receive a free trial offer from the business, but have difficulty or are unable to cancel the services before the free trial offer is up.

The company generally responds by explaining that the complainant signed a twelve month contract and cannot cancel the contract.

BBB believes these complaints contain a pattern of allegations and contacted the business on October 15, 2015, We requested the company provide to us steps that it is taking to eliminate the underlying cause of complaints, if any. The company responded on October 20, 2015, indicating that, in the case of consumers filing complaints about not being able to cancel their contracts, the company believes these consumers are attempting to get out of their twelve month contracts and that in order for a customer to complete their subscription they are required to fill out an electronic order form which requires acknowledgement of the terms and conditions of the contract. The company also explained that their sales representatives clearly explain to all customers that they are entering a twelve month commitment. BBB followed up with the company on October 22, 2015 and November 4, 2015, requesting that they provide us with the steps they plan to take to prevent these allegations from reoccurring. As of today's date, we have not received a response to that request.

I contacted the company asking about adding a vehicle. They said I would have to pay for another subscription to add a vehicle. I then asked about just changing my vehicle since the one that was on the subscription was totaled in a car crash and I would like the change the vehicle or get a refund on my time left. They never replied. To be honest, there wasn't a whole lot of info on their website regarding the car that was totaled. I kinda felt like I wasted money, but I paid for the subscription so I was going to stick it out. Unfortunately for me, my car was totaled. So , after them not replying and knowing their content is hit and miss, I'd simply rather have a refund than to change to a different car, knowing their customer service isn't great and that their product wasn't very sufficient for my previous car.

We are sorry to hear about your experience and totaled vehicle. Our support team has reached out to ****** to offer a one-time exception to switch the vehicle subscription.

      Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: They never responded to me when asked about switching vehicles or refund.  Months later they get back to me, ONLY because the BBB intervened.  This is unacceptable.  Your alldata service didn't even cover half the repairs I was looking to do on my own after insurance totaled my car. I figured maybe I could fix it back up, but the repair for a 2015 ******** e350 Wagon was pretty scarce.  I have very little faith in your service being any better for any other vehicle.  I am simply asking again for a prorated refund.

Lied to me about the capabilities of the scanner they lease. Lied to me about the price I would be paying. Offered a two hundred dollar credit for one month but I was overcharged EXACTLY two hundred dollars for that month. Asked to cancel my account because they are liars and they say can't cancel because 12 month contract. I will not pay them. They basically do bad business and lie and do whatever they want because customers sign a contract so they think you have absolutely no recourse. I will recommend everyone to stay FAR away from this company. ********* is way way better.

We are sorry to hear about this experience. Our support team has been attempting to work with ***** to remedy the situation . We were able to correct the billing error (on 3/10), and have offered additional training for the Diagnostics tool. Unfortunately we cannot cancel the account due to a signed contract, however we have set this account to non-renew at the end of the contract term.

      Thanks,

I requested a refund per the company's refund policy on March 11, 2022. The company responded on March 15 saying that the refund was issued on March 11. However, as of March 15 I still haven't received the refund. I'm requesting a refund of $107.98 be immediately issued

I purchased this product and was told I could cancel after 6 to 7 months if I did not like the product. I only called into there customer support to ask when my contract is up and started getting treated like a criminal. I only asked. I then asked if I can terminate my contract early and they replied no. They do not do that. How I was treated on the phone for just asking questions was not acceptable. Then I was lied to upon signing up. They sent me a copy of contract but there is nothing in there about it besides dates nothing stating I can't cancel. And I'm pretty sure I'm being charged for services I don't even know I have or how to use . I feel like I was misguided and there product was misrepresented when I signed up for products.

I first initially called ALLDATA to ask about their auto repair service that they offer. I spoke to a gentleman named ************ and he told me about the service. As we are talking, he kept pressuring into getting this package that included the shop manager service and a OB2 scanner with a tablet. I kept telling him no until he told me I had 90 days to try it out, so I agreed to that only. I get the scanner and tablet and try them out. The tablet was cheap and and the app that went with the scanner didnt work. I didnt like it so I called to return it all back. First they told me I couldnt return it because they said I signed up for a 3 year plan. I didnt sign or receive any documentation nor did I agree to do a 3 year plan. Finally after being on the phone back and forth, they told me I could return it. I said I would like just to have the repair service that I initially wanted but they told me I was locked in on a 3 year plan and charged me for other services that I did not want. Every time I called, either I was told I couldnt change it or they would hang up on me. When someone would call back, they would call on a private number and ask if I was ok then hang up on me. I sent several emails and text messages to **** and another representative no answer or I would get the run around. The last email a month ago that said they had to talk to corporate and I never heard from them again. I sent a notarized cancellation notice to them that had to be signed and on the letter I asked then to contact me still nothing. It was signed for last week. Just the other day I received a **** for over ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* I need help with this situation.

I called alldata to cancel my subscription effective Feb 24 2022. They said ok we will cancel it on March 24 2022. I said no I want immediate cancellation as I have no use for the product. They said i could still use it fir another month at my expense and they will cancel it on the 24 March 2022. I said no cancel it today as I don't want to pay for something I can't use or soneyhing I don't even want. I've emailed several times to tell them to email me a statement that they are going to be charging me for a month I don't want or need. They refuse to do so and will not do an immediate cancellation. What kind of company forces a product on someone that they don't want. I would like help with the cancellation.

They offer something they dont have. I had Alldata before and had to canceled because they didnt have enough information to provide. The agent came to my place and offered me the service and told me that they had upgraded everything, but everything result the same. You have to keep call In to get diagrams and have to wait for them to send it to you. Mechanic are busy theres no time to wait for them to get the information they said the had on their program.

We are sorry to hear about this bad experience with our product. Recently, a field representative was able to visit the customer and provide product training. They were able to find the information he was looking for. The field rep also provided him with his direct contact information in case he needs any more support.

I decided to start paying for Alldata month to month without knowing that I was being set up with a twelve month contract. I called just a few days after starting the account to cancel it because it was not to my liking. This is when they informed me that I was in a contract. I was a little upset but not ****** because I was informed that if I stopped payment then my account would just cancel and I would not be responsible for payment unless I decided to start using it in the future. So 10 months go by and now I have received a letter saying my account is seriously delinquent and is going to have a bad debt listed on my credit report by November 15. So basically I was told this would not affect my credit and my account would be canceled once payments ceased, both of which statements are proving to be false.
