I set up a preliminary consultation via phone call after visiting their site after seeing an ad on Instagram. The representative tried to use psychological manipulation in a attempt to obtain my personal information over the phone including social security numbers and sensitive financial information. He then pressured me to sign a document (while on the phone) giving over partial power of attorney and credit card information, though I told him I was not comfortable doing so until after i reviewed his proposal in writing. Afterward, i received a barrage of calls and texts from the company representatives attempting to convince me to follow through with their requests to complete these forms, In my experience, no business should pressure anyone to sign away sensitive information until a thorough assessment of the proposed offer. These strong arm tactics are unethical at best, and to me seemed suspect, aggressive and completely unprofessional. I was talking with this tax consultant and she showed me how people got their debt reduced down to zero. She was telling me that it would be $400 and I didn**;t have it at the time. I saved it up and contacted her. She gathered my information and she said someone else will call me about this. By the time the second ****** called me back, I was told to give $2400 to pay for their services. She never said that I had to pay more money to use their services. I paid $400 to get it started and I didn**;t know I had to pay more for their services. I would like my money back.Initial Complaint

I retained Alleviate Tax to help me with my back tax issues. As I moved further along in the process, I realized due to my income, the solutions would be ones that I could do on my own. Per the contract I signed, to cancel future services, I need only submit my cancellation request in writing, which I did multiple times: Via email on March 10, 2025; March 20, 2025; March 26, 2025; April 3, 2025; and April 11, 2025. Their response is to continue to call me and harass me, asking questions about why I wish to cancel, instead of cancelling my agreement. They are also continuing to attempt to bill me and I have repeatedly asked them in all of my communication to stop billing me and cancel my contract. These people assured me there was no obligation to continue their service, and I have already paid them $4,600 and they are continuing to bill me. I wish for them to stop calling me, cancel my account and stope trying to charge my debit card, and close my case as I've repeatedly asked them to do.Business Response

On March 3, I spoke with P. ******************************** He explained how they operate and what may or may not happen. He agreed to take a partial payment to "hire" them. Taking a remainder ****** on 3/7. I have reached out to cancel the process asking for a refund of the initial ******. I read too many complaints regarding their services. I phoned twice today, asking for ****, who handles finances. They have told me to hold and then come back to say he will call me back. He has not called to date. This company stated that they would reduce the amount I owe the *** in taxes to an agreed upon amount to be paid off on a monthly basis. They are now claiming that the agreed upon amount is not to pay off my taxes but their service fees. The documents I signed are unavailable and no one will call me back or respond to my emails. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with this company. I reached out to Alleviate Taxes to help with some old tax issues/debt that I have. I was sent a link on BBB and sent reviews about how AMAZING and legit they are with helping people solve tax problems- old debt/old returns etc. I answered a whole slew of questions about my income and tax situation and they stated - we can def help you!!! it took me multiple phone calls and signed documents etc. Took out a large loan that the payment is over $300/mon to cover their FEES. Nothing happened for close to a year, when I received a doc from the *** stating they were about to put a lien on my bank accounts. So I CALLED them and was asking umm whats the deal? Why am I receiving this? Then all of a sudden they deemed it urgent. So they file everything and 3 weeks later- they call and advise me that due to my income there is nothing that can be done and Ill have to pay the debt off with a monthly payment for 6 years. So why did I even call these people? What have they done for me that I couldnt do/already did for myself? I had already set up payments prior to ever contacting them. I feel like I got the short end of this deal and now I went from a $600 payment (before I ever called Alleviate) to paying $650 now on top of their $300 monthly payment so Im in even more of a tough spot than I was before. I have no idea how to get help on this so thats why Im here.Business Response

To Whom It May Concern,I am filing a complaint regarding the services I received from Alleviate Tax Group after being referred by ****************. I was unaware that having a Cash App business account required me to pay and report taxes, as the majority of the money I received was for my partner. After receiving multiple IRS letters stating I owed taxes for neglecting to file, I sought help from Alleviate Tax Group.Initially, they appeared to be on top of my case, but once I fell behind on the first payment, the service became inconsistent. Ultimately, I wish to cancel my services with them because I have not received meaningful assistance, and nothing was done to address my issue with the ****** partner now wishes to pursue a more affordable alternative, so I am requesting to cancel the service and pay for the minimal service I received. I contacted my account manager, ****, to explain that I no longer needed their services. He assured me that there would be no issue. However, I recently received a bill for $3,500, which I believe is unreasonable given that no substantial work was completed, and no contact was made with the *** to resolve any issues.I feel that Alleviate Tax Group has not provided the service I was promised and is taking advantage of vulnerable individuals. This situation is very stressful, and I am serious about resolving this matter.I would appreciate any assistance in addressing this issue and ensuring that I am not held responsible for charges that are unjust.Business Response

I paid Alleviate Tax a retainer of $3,000 for a tax debt resolution. Since I paid the retainer, I have not been contacted by the case manager. I have reached out multiple times. Initially, I was told they were working on it and would get back to me with any updates. Then I would not get a response at all. They have been unable to provide the service I paid for and I would like a full refund of the money I paid their company.Business Response

Alleviate Tax has "been working on my tax debt". I put in quotes because nothing has been done in that 3 years. They just keep asking for the same documents but updated ones. Then my bank account got frozen by the *** in January and someone new from alleviate called and upsold me addition service. I ended up buying because I wasn't sure what to do with the *** freezing my account. once I agreed to the upsale (addition 9K over the 24K I had already paid) no one from that **** has called me back, responded to an email or text. I have called in and talked to a *** but they just tell me someone will call you back with in 48 hours and that never happensBusiness Response
