DO NOT BUY SKYBELL. Its the worst doorbell in the market. Buy Wyze ones or any other brand, but absolutely do not buy SkyBell.I bought 2 SkyBell doorbells a couple of years ago. They seemed to work well; however, video recordings are never available, doorbells go constantly offline, you can never watch live video. In summary, the doorbells are useless for security purposes. I work in the tech industry, and I am pretty sure videos are never available because of poor/cheap/inexistent server capacity. That is, SkyBell probably does not want to invest in IT infrastructure. As a consequence, there is no storage/processing capacity for all doorbell videos they sell.I contacted Skybell, but I never got a response. Hey, what can you expect from a company that doesnt invest in proper IT infrastructure?

    12/12/2023

Hi, Thank you for providing feedback. First, based on the information shared, we only located a single ticket opened on 12/09/2023. If there are other tickets under other email addresses please provide the information so I can review everything that has transpired previously. The ticket you opened came in after hours and we replied Monday afternoon. I apologize if the auto-reply did not clearly set the expectation of our working hours, I will review that too. Also, please check your Junk/Spam folder in case our replies landed in there instead of your inbox. Next, I want to address the claim about server space and infrastructure. We actually have a scaleable hosting platform that is externally hosted by a major cloud hosting platform. So, capacity (both space and processing) is not an issue. We built both the ** platform, and the Gen5 platform to always scale up. As a matter of fact, with our new Gen5 app the migration you performed moved your devices into an entirely new, entirely separate, instance. The new instance will support video storage for up to 45 days, as you may have read in the app regarding the premium service. Now, back to your active ticket. We did note that yes, there is clearly something occurring preventing the SkyBell from completing the upload to the server. The technician did request on the 12/11/23 reply that you perform some simple troubleshooting steps because we did document odd connection behavior. Specifically, we are seeing timeouts when the hardware tries to upload content. Additionally, we noted that the backdoor SkyBell is getting -87dB signal to your router (getting as close to 0 is best). We also asked for a simple restart of the router. Especially because the front door signal is great (-39dB), but it too is not uploading due to timeouts. The reboot helps devices get an active IP from the router, and to reset any router caching. If that does not resolve the issue please check to ensure the devices have the proper priority set, if thats an option in your router. Simple IoT devices can be deprioritized because they are not streamers or phones. Once these first steps are complete, reply in the open ticket and we can review the results and assess the next steps. I know we are starting with the basics, and thats because we show no other ticket history, and we do not want to miss or overlook anything. Since you are also in the tech industry you know that when it comes to things not working as expected you want to start checking things off via a process of elimination. This way you can systematically check variables and isolate any spurious details that can affect functionality. We look forward to continuing our troubleshooting to fully solve and resolve your technical issue. Thank you,************SkyBell Technical Support Manager
