Giselle's Vegan Kitchen in *********** is making false claims about the caloric content of its products. For a period of several months in 2021, I consistently bought her Vegan Protein Bars, which claim on the nutrition label to be 220 calories. I was amazed, as they were quite rich and tasted like dessert; I was on a diet at the time, but consistently bought and ate them. Her products were being prominently featured, garnering tons of positive (and similarly incredulous) comments on Instagram and in person. However, it just didnt add up the ingredients were lots of nut butter, maple syrup, coconut oil, seeds, and other high-calorie ingredients; each of those alone could contribute 200+ calories. Eventually I found a lab (Pacific **************** Services, in San ********) and had a 100-gram sample (not even the entire bar) tested. The sample was 530 calories. I reached out to confirm via phone, social media, and in person that the ENTIRE bar was, in fact, only 220 calories. *******'s reaffirmed the claim each time. Additionally, the nutritional label itself says the serving size is 0.0 grams, which is separately confusing and misleading.Though I havent had them tested, she also makes claims about her vegan donuts having 20 grams of protein, and based on the ingredients (mostly oats, apple sauce, and nut butter), I dont believe this is possible either. She has that claim on the physical packages, though not posted on her website (which the protein bar information is). I no longer live in LA nor do I buy her products anymore, but I know she is still profiting from her false claims and misleading consumers deliberately, and it's not right. She needs to stop. Additionally, since the bars are quite expensive and I absolutely would not have bought them if I'd known the truth, I would like (a) reimbursement for the many bars I bought, (b) reimbursement for the lab test, and (c) for her to cover a gym membership to undo some of the calories I unknowingly consumed.
