This is by far the worst business experience I have ever had. Anchors Up repeatedly fails to perform and you can see a series of bad reviews *************** and several complaints through the ********************** that support this is an ongoing trend. Anchors Up took my boat and my **** deposit 6 months ago in March 2022 for a simple paint job on a 22ft boat. Since then,****** has failed to deliver on any of his agreements or promises. I have lost countless business revenues, docking fees, insurance fees, not to mention 6 months of wasted time and resources and an entire summer without my boat. He initially promised a really fast and easy 3-4 week turnaround. He failed to perform, and continues to fail 6 months later. His most recent agreement was to have it completed the week of 7/11/2022. He failed to perform and is refusing to let me see my boat or provide photos to prove he is actually working on it. I started to suspect scam/fraud after a few weeks went by with no progress. After a plethora of excuses, his most recent excuse in June was that it was impossible for anyone to get the paint needed to complete my boat. I made 1 phone call to a supplier that could get us the paint the next day. When I confronted him about this he immediately changed his tone and said he ordered the paint. That was 2 months ago and I am still without my boat. I have no choice but to escalate this matter for resolution since he continues to be incapable of performing the work he guaranteed inside the timelines he promised. In summary: Anchors Up has taken my boat and my money and are not finishing the work or returning my boat back to me.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/08/22) */ We are very familiar with **** and he is one of the most toxic and abusive customers that we have ever encountered. When he first engaged us for work, he lied about the scope of the project to get hauled out, stating he wanted topside paint and maintenance. Topside paint is only for the sides of the boat. Once we hauled him out and provided him with an estimate, he changed the scope to a huge project that included what would be similar to a frame off restoration on a car where everything is taken off of the boat everything was painted and chose the one paint color that is indefinitely back ordered until at least November or December by the manufacturer. At one point, we denied accepting his work because of his abusive behavior and he agreed that he would change his attitude in order to have us do the work for him. Naturally, this did not happen and he became even more abusive once the work began. Even without supply chain problems, this project would have taken at least six months to complete. **** has delayed his own project many times with constant micro managing, requests for progress updates, photos, unscheduled visits to the shop and excessive after hours emails and text messages. His behavior was so bad that we had to notify him that any further emails or text messages sent after hours would be billed to him in 15 min increments at overtime rates. Last year, ********** passed ******** laws concerning the paints that are allowed to be used in ********** and ********* has now passed **** stricter rules. The manufacturers have been struggling to manufacturer new paints and chemicals that meet these requirements and there is a great deal of confusion between the state and the manufacturers regarding these changes. To make matters worse, the supply chain problems that have impacted the entire country have also virtually eliminated the availability of the black pigments used in these paints. The manufacturer of the paint ********************************************** You are welcome to call them and discuss the supply chain problems with them related to *********************** County and Jet Black/ Extreme Jet Black color options. Due to ****'s excessive pressure and abuse, all we wanted was to get his boat completed and back to him as soon as possible. We worked with ******** directly and were able to procure one gallon of this paint, the last gallon in the entire country, through one of their distributors and had it shipped in from the east coast at our expense. Once the painting started, we discovered defects in the boat's hull that were not visible until a gloss black finish was applied. In order to provide the highest quality finished product for ****, we re-sanded the boat, repaired the defects, re-primed the boat and had to search for one more gallon of this paint. After several weeks. ******** was able to provide us one gallon of paint that was not released to the market and was a favor for us in order to get the project completed. We have finally received this additional gallon of paint and we began re-spraying the boat last week. Please be advised that virtually every statement that **** has made regarding Anchors Up and this process is falsified. His claim that he could procure this paint is not only false but absurd. Bearing in mind that we are working directly with the manufacturer on this project, there would be no distributors that had this paint magically sitting on their shelves. Furthermore, Dree has fabricated a story that his project should have only taken one month to complete, which is in no way accurate. ****'s actions should be punishable for fraudulently filing claims with your office. On several occasions, we have offered **** the option of paying for the work that has been completed and taking his boat elsewhere to have the work completed. He has denied this offer each time and only wants to complain, requesting a full refund. There will be no refund provided to **** as his project is 75% complete and $4000 over budget due to his pressuring and abuse. We are working hard for him and but honestly he will not be welcome back here once his project is completed and will likely be banned from all of the local boat repair companies as well. The time spent preparing this response is one hour and **** will be billed for this time. Please feel free to call me with any further questions or concerns. Respectfully, Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/08/24) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) ******* response is another documented example of his dishonesty, gross negligence and incompetence. He continues to blame his customers and falsify excuses instead of taking personal accountability. 1) Attached is his most recent email to me. It is full of slander, name calling, and hostile threats backed by his attempt to blackmail me into taking my review down from ***. 2) Attached are emails where I attempt to get my boat back from him. He indicates he has offered to let me take my boat back multiple times but as you can see in these emails, that is false. The first attempt he replied with aggressive threats saying he would have me "blackballed" from other boat yards and it was not possible for me to take my boat elsewhere. In the most recent request to pick up my boat he is non responsive. 3) Attached is documentation from 2 unique suppliers and a local boat yard that have all confirmed the *************** Black product is available and in stock. I am even including an attached document that shows the product was readily in stock in June 2022 when he claims that it was impossible to get anywhere in the country. 4) Attached are 3 unique occasions when ***** agreed to a completion date and never delivered and never communicated any updates about a delay. The earliest was in April of 2022 when he promised they were working hard to see if they could get it back to me before the end of April. This goes against his documented response to the *** that this is a 6 month project. Why would he say he can get it done in April 2022 if it's a 6 month long project? He got started on the work in April 2022. Another documented example of ***** being dishonest in an attempt to cover his tracks. The other 2 dates for delivery were 7/5/2022 and the week of 7/11/2022. It is now 8/23/2022 and he still has not followed through. I have several other boat yards lined up that are ready to help take on this work to get it completed right away. They are disappointed to hear about this experience and are willing to step up and get this project completed right away. They have reviewed the scope and have assured me this is a 3-4 week job and is not a 6 month project as ***** is now falsely indicating. ***** has held my boat hostage for over 6 months, inflicting tremendous and costly damages to myself, my family and my business. Additionally, I have a qualified mechanic I have used for 7 years that can confirm there was absolutely no hull damage on my boat prior to bringing it to his shop which is another example of his dishonesty. He has also claimed I was in need of a transom rebuild, however we have documented evidence the transom was rebuilt 2 months prior to bringing it to him. He also claims that the batteries were dead, but we tested those a week before bringing it to him and the only reason they are dead is because they sat idle in his yard for 6 months without being charged.
