The vets at VCA Aurora are intelligent and well qualified, but the business is run like a factory. Pets are passed between so many vets (even after diagnosis), owners are unsure of who to ask for or communicate with when an issue develops. I was given conflicting information at times, and at many points during and after my dog's discharge from the hospital I was not given adequate information about what to expect in light of my dog's life-threatening diagnosis or about what could go wrong because of his disease and medications. While I kept my communications to as few as were necessary to get information I needed to ensure my pet was safe and progressing during the time that VCA said was a "critical" period for his wellbeing, emails were not returned and promises of calls were unfulfilled late and only after follow up emails were sent. But, even worse, most telephone communications were by a "telephone chain" ... vet to vet tech/assistant to pet owner to vet tech/assistant to vet (repeat). I chose to use direct-to-vet email as my primary mode of attempted communication to avoid this exact situation as well as the long hold times. Emails communication is apparently acceptable as email addresses are included on every vet's business card available in the lobby. Yet, responses do not come or are met with promises of calls that do not happen. This occurred even when (despite having already paid thousands of dollars) I made clear I would pay for the vet's time and advise to communicate with me on vital issues. While I believe the vets at **************** are highly skilled and intelligent, unfortunately I also believe the place is a profit-driven factory which has led to a less-than-professional level of communication resulting in a situation where animals are put at risk. Being totally frustrated by the absence of what I consider to be professional communication, I must list VCA Aurora as place to avoid.Review from Sue Ann F

Very deceptive business practices based on greed. They use their "care plans" to get you locked into something that's almost impossible to cancel. 2 years ago I told them I would sign up for a plan that included a neuter for my dog. So for 2 years I've been paying $70/mo. When I call to schedule the neuter appointment they tell me that I need to pay $200 for pre op blood work and $2000 for the surgery. I advised that the care plan should cover it. The receptionist puts me on hold, comes back and says that I have been on a plan that doesn't include neutering. I said so I've been paying monthly for what?? Shots? Oh, and the blood work is included in the plan I have, but they it's once a year and they did blood work his last visit. They had no reason to do blood work. So she said she will have her supervisor call me back. I have the documents that show we discussed the correct plan. They are VERY expensive which I can handle, but being deceptive I just can not.Review from Katherine A

I will never go back to VCA again!!!! My 8 week old kitten was just spayed yesterday. She popped a stitch, not from any activities that would cause a stitch to rip. Her intestines were literally hanging out of the incision. The lady at the front desk tried to give us a wait time, at which my response was, "Her guts are hanging out. I would think this constitutes an emergency." They took my kitten from me, and told me to have a seat in the waiting room and as soon as a room is available they will come get me, mind you there were 3 open and available rooms behind me and only 1 other person in the waiting room. After over 30 mins of waiting, all they did was put a cone around my kitten and wrap her up. The vet still didn't see her. So she's laying there, obviously in pain, alone with a **** cone on her head. I walked up to reception and told them that since they don't think this is an emergency, then give me my cat back, and I will take her some place that will help her. Some big rude lady came out, gave me my kitten, and then walked away from me. She then had the nerve to try and sell me a cone. Clearly, I told her no, and she says, "Whatever," and goes to sit behind the desk, from having a long, hard day of not caring about animals. No one there treated this as an emergency or even urgent. Not one person that worked there could even make eye contact. They have no compassion and are insensitiveReview from Kristen F

IInaccurate Narrative: The "objective" section detailing the series of events is inaccurate. I requested a blood test, during which my dog was taken from me. Upon return, *****'s was in a catatonic, almost paralytic state, which was not the case before the test. Despite this drastic change in health, the veterinarian did not enter the room to explain the situation. I suspect the misrepresentation of events in the medical note could be due to the absence of the attending veterinarian.Sudden Downturn: Despite there being no major red flags in *****'s vitals, there was a sudden downturn in her health, which adds to the confusion surrounding her condition. No Transparency I was unable to obtain the name of the technician who attended to S'mores and performed the euthanasia. Despite my repeated requests to the receptionist, she refused to provide either the technician's name or her own. This lack of transparency is concerning and unacceptable.Review from Michelle P

These people do not care about your pets! My sister took her dog in because she had a fox tail stuck in her paw. The dogs paw was very swollen and when they arrived the veterinarian proceeded to shave the dog paw to see where the swollen bumps were. The dog had TWO bumps and they only drained one. They sent us home with all the medicine and they noticed the other bump was getting worst. My sister called the clinic and they advised she would have to pay $125 for another visit. Mind you they had just taken the dog in two days ago and the vet clearly saw the other bump and she didnt drain it. When she called the office manager who is very rude and condescending advised theres nothing we can do and thats how much the visit will be. Worst vet care in the ***********, ** area. They only care about money and the vet probably got her degree at some mediocre college.Review from Cynthia M

The vet swatted my dogs face two times while on the first visit. He crouched on the floor and my dog walked to him and was SWATTED. My dog was recently rescued and is now traumatized. This was horrible for both of us. He was muzzled and I left with ****** hands and legs. My dog is not aggressive.Review from Pat F

We have used ************************************************* since we adopted our first cat in 2004. They have always been very expensive but the level of care, and caring was high. Over the last two years EVERYTHING has changed. Recently my 19 year old cat was kept in her transport cage for 5 hours before they treated her. That alone is outrageous. Everything is now about money. I won't go into all the details but suffice to say that even a standard checkup which they require every 6 months in order to refill her prescriptions. That fee is generally 300 dollars. I would continue paying if I felt they gave exceptional service. That is just no longer the case. Since an ownership change to VCA the care level is terrible. As a long time customer I have witnessed the change first hand. I could not recommend them for any loving animal parent. They provide overpriced inferior service. I have recently changed vets and can now see clearly how bad their service has become. I am writing this because I love both of my cats and don't want anyone else learning as I have that ************************************************* in ********* no longer provide the level of care and caring that they had been known for in the past. Zero stars.Review from Sean M

VCA Arrighetti Animal Hospital engages in deceptive business practices to compel unnecessary services and fees from clients. They claim that New Mexico State Law requires a $110 Veterinarian exam to administer a $15 Rabies Vaccine. No such law exists.Review from Maurice L

Around 7pm on April 8th, we took our sick dog (Peanut) to the *** Animal Hospital Emergency room after out Vet suggested us to take her there as Peanut's blood test results were alarming. When we arrived, they took her in immediately, analyzed the situation and then came to me with a $10,000.00 proposal of what it may cost to treat her correctly. I did not ***** a bit, Peanut was my life so I was told i needed to pay an over $5,000.00 deposit so they can start her treatment. They showed us where she will be kept, started her on a IV and told us the Vet will call you around Midnight to give us an update. Well, midnight passed and nobody from *** called. So we decided to call around 1am and were told that she was doing fine and that they need to do a sonogram to see if she has any blockage. I told them do whatever is necessary to make her better. After keeping her all night and no one has called to let us know how the sonogram went, we called again around 9am and was told that the shift doctor would give us a call. About an hour later we get a call that she was still waiting to get a sonogram as there were pets ahead of her as well. This is when i felt all they wanted was my money, Peanut was never considered an emergency patient and she was left to rot in a cage while everyone was sleeping or on a break. The next call we got 2 hours later was that Peanut had passed away and no sonogram. I was misled, lied to and they killed my Peanut. This hospital should be shut down so no one else has to deal with their incompetency *** Hospitals and their owners the Mars Veterinary Health all they want is to show them the money.
