1 starHorrible! Took 45 min to pick us up from directed location. All communication was via text because they wouldnt answer their phones. Attempted to charge several additional fees including insurance which my credit card company already supplies. When requesting to cancel the reservation the customer service *** got argumentative and condescending.Review fromYoussef M

1 starIt appears that Nu Car Rentals engages in a recurring and troubling practice of pressuring customers into purchasing insurance coverageeven after the customer has clearly declined it. Agents often present an additional document at the last minute under the false pretense that it is a refundable deposit of nearly $600. In reality, it authorizes unwanted insurance charges, and only a partial amount is refunded after invoicing. This misleading tactic appears to be incentivized by commissions offered to employees. It is unethical, deceptive, and indicative of very poor business conduct.Their customer service shows little regard for complaints about these dishonest practices. In my case, they refunded only $54 out of $412 in unauthorized chargeson top of the original reservation made through *******. This minimal refund does not reflect a genuine attempt to resolve the issue.Despite contacting their customer service, no meaningful action was taken. They deflected responsibility and issued a partial refund, attributing the incident to misguidance by their agent, *****. This misrepresentation prompted another negative review and has led to further investigation by my credit card company and Expedia.Nu Car Rentals routinely redirects dissatisfied customers to a chatbot or their generic email address (**@nucarre*****.us), creating an illusion of customer care while doing little to address or rectify complaints. The overwhelming number of poor reviews on ****** and Yelp demonstrates that my experience is not an isolated case. This companys tactics are unacceptable and should be formally investigated. Their repeated misconduct reflects a systemic issue that continues to harm consumers. I strongly urge the BBB to review these practices and hold Nu Car Rentals accountable for their deceptive and predatory behavior.Review fromMegan S

1 starFirst, SCARE TACTICS. THIS PLACE WILL DO WHATEVER THEY CAN DO MAKE YOU FEEL INFERIOR. I got the car (an hour after my reservation despite there being nobody inside and arriving early) and I returned the car, and I had no unexpected charges but my GOODNESS this was the WORST experience renting a car IN MY LIFE.For the record, most ****** who arrive at your facility are arriving from the airport. Your employees are the first ****** we come into contact with in the state, period. My first few hours in **** were lousy because my experience with this place was so aggressive for no reason. Theres a difference between trying to scare someone into coverage and just making them aware of what could happen.I didnt buy any additional coverage because I was there for two days. My bf doesnt drive due a disability and they talked to me like I was going to put him in the driver seat. OK, so you dont want to add any additional drivers. Do you know if you get caught its 200+ dollars right? You do know that no friends or family can help you get towed, right? we were literally staying down the road for two nights and she treated us like we were gonna have a free for all with the ********** a responsible person, I follow the law and I follow the rules. To be treated like Im less than for no reason, all to try to upsell me, really poor business model.Everything is a scare ********** about, welcome to ****!How about, enjoy your trip! How about, you dont know what to do for the couple days youre here? Here are some ********************************* ADD: the car we rented was available, but when we didnt want to purchase their additional insurance, they put us in a smaller vehicle!!!!!!!! The smaller vehicle was just washed. I asked the guy if he could dry it so I could see the dents and scratches and he said no. I waited for the car to dry and I pointed out a crack in the windshield that wasnt marked.Review fromAdolfo B

1 starI am disappointed in myself as well as your employee who handled my transaction. During the process of logging in yourrepresentative asked me where I was going. When I said I was headed to ***************** he said that the Gladiator I rented was a 4 cylinder that would struggle at certain parts of the drive that had a grade incline. He recommendedthat I upgrade to a 6 cylinder Rubicon. He stated that the DIFFERENCE WAS ONLY $25. He neglected to say it was per day. Naturally I was ready to get going and I agreed to the upgrade and I didn't read the contract once I signed. If I had, I would have canceled the upgrade. On the way to Steamboat I saw many four cylinder vehicles going up to Steamboat with no issues. In fact, the elevation changes were very gradual and would have been easily manageable by a 4 cylinder Gladiator.I am upset that I paid 128% over the original price. I understand that upselling is part of the job but I believe your employee was fully aware that I did not fully comprehend what I agreed to. I feel I was conned. I am 68 years old, so I should know better, but I will write about my experience when I review your company.Review fromChandler H

1 starThey sell you on options in the fine print and associates and sales representative. Do not give you any verbal indication that you are signing to pay extra for anything. So when you have agreed a specific cost from the beginning and then you put a deposit down when you are returned the deposit it is never full because they charge you for excess fees that was never Agreed-upon except in the fine print that they never tell you about. It is a shady business through and throughReview fromjim M

1 star****. I went to the ******* location for a family funeral and was lied to, over charged and refused a proper refund. This business is absolutely criminal and scamming everyone that came in.They told me I HAD to accept insurance coverage and roadside assistance. I said "no, I have insurance" but he said he "HAD" to add it because it was mandatory.I was also told that other charges were 'go away' because they were deposits, but that was a lie too. I prepaid through ******* but was told on site that I had to accept $200+ in addons that were 'mandatory'.That's illegal and I wish I never did business with this company. I will never use them ******** CAR is a SCAMReview fromRobert P
