For over a year, we have been trying to close an *** with Bishop Gold which was opened by our deceased father. All appropriate beneficiary paperwork has been submitted. In 2023, we were told by Bishop Gold that the account could not be closed until it matured at 3 years from opening (Dec 2024). We waited until January 2025 and contacted Bishop Gold to close the account. Several conversations have taken place with **** ******* who used deceptive sales tactics and lied in an attempt to deter us from closing the ****Once we informed **** that we want to close the account, he said that the only option was to take the metals and sell them on our own to a coin dealer/pawn shop. When asked if it was possible to liquidate *** accounts and close them for their cash value, he stated that it could be done, but that he would not do it for us.After this communication, I asked **** for his supervisors info which he refused to provide. He stated that he would have someone get back to me. That conversation was on February 7, 2025.I called Bishop Gold and obtained an email address for ***** ******** and sent her an email expressing my concerns about **** and requesting assistance. There was no response to that email. On 2/18/25 I texted **** requesting help with the account considering there has been no returned call from Bishop Gold. There was no response to that text.Following that text message, I called Bishop Gold; the person who answered the phone stated that **** and Milli were both on other calls and unavailable but that she would have someone call me back. There was no response following that call.On 2/20/25, I emailed **** *., Milli, ****, and the default Bishop Gold email address requesting assistance to close our account and have received no returned communication from ********* seems as if Bishop Gold is scamming us with no call, and refusing to pay out the cash value of the account and trying to force other options to serve their financial gain.Business Response

Bishop Gold Group takes all complaints and customer experience very seriously. The above referenced complaint is not made by a "customer" of **********************, rather it appears to be made by the child of a previous customer of **********************'s from 2021. On November 16, 2021, this "previous customer" of ********************** signed a "Transaction Agreement" detailing all elements of the precious metals purchase he made on December 8, 2021. The customer had 22 days to review the "Transaction Agreement" prior to agreeing to purchase precious metals from Bishop Gold Group. In Section 4 on the 3rd page of the aforementioned "Transaction Agreement" it clearly states, "The law prohibits Company from guaranteeing that it will repurchase precious metals that Company sells. Company hereby discloses, and Customer hereby acknowledges, that Company does not guarantee that it will repurchase any precious metals from Customer." Furthermore, the individual making this complaint has never been a customer of **********************. Thus, ********************** has no obligation to purchase precious metals from "said individual." Bishop Gold Group, with no obligation to do so, has provided multiple alternative routes for this individual to sell their precious metals products.Customer Answer

I spoke with **** from Bishop Gold on 2/26/25 who stated the following: He compared the metals that my father purchased from Bishop Gold as buying a t-shirt and then 3 years later trying to sell that t-shirt back to the person I bought it from he then went on to say that Bishop Gold is nothing more than a coin shop. After rejecting his analogy and description of the business, **** went on to say that they do in-fact purchase metals back from existing customers but that we are not the customer. This is not accurate, I am now the customer because my father is dead and my brother and I are the beneficiarys and representatives of his estate. Legal court documentation assigning my brother and I as a legal representatives to his estate has been properly submitted to Bishop Gold and therefore we can make any and all legal decisions on his behalf and on his account. The stance of Bishop Gold using my fathers death as a reason to not treat us or his account as they would any other account is appalling. They are literally discriminating against us based on the death of our father and refusing to deal with us fairly and respectfully. Their actions in this matter are immoral, unethical, and disrespectful.Sincerely,

After I rejected his analogy and description of the business, **** went on to say that they do in-fact purchase metals back from existing customers but that we are not the customer. This is not true or accurate, I am now the customer because my father is dead and my brother and I are the beneficiarys and representatives of his estate. Legal court documentation assigning my brother and I as a legal representatives to his estate have been properly submitted to Bishop Gold and therefore we can make any and all legal decisions on his behalf and on his account. Because our father was the original customer and he is now dead, they are refusing to deal with us fairly and respectfully. Their actions in this matter are immoral, unethical, and disrespectful.
Following their last response through the BBB, we sent another email to Bishop Gold with another copy of our fathers death certificate and the court paperwork assigning us as the representatives of his estate (which now makes the account ours, and therefore the customer). In this email we requested all documentation pertaining to his account as well as a current valuation of the account. There was no response to this email. In response to their claim that we have been given options on the account, there have been no formal documented options offered to us. The last conversation with ****, I told him that we were willing to work with them if they would work with us to resolve this matter. He stated that he would get back to me. He, nor anyone else at Bishop Gold has made any attempt to resolve the matter.

Bishop Gold Group is NOT a financial custodian. Bishop Gold Group does not manage any "accounts." ********************** is a retail precious metals broker who sells physical gold, silver, platinum, palladium to consumers across *****************. The complainant's father initially contacted Bishop Gold Group in November of 2021 looking to purchase a host of physical precious metals products. He requested that those physical precious metals products be delivered to his *** account at ********************. Bishop Gold Group provided the client with a precious metals transaction agreement which stipulated all details of the transaction. The client signed and returned the completed transaction agreement on November 16, 2021. After verbally agreeing (on a consented to recorded line) to all precious metals products he wished to purchase, Bishop Gold Group delivered all agreed upon precious metals products within a 30 day timeframe. This purchase was completed over 3 years ago and Bishop Gold Group has honored all obligations to the client per the transaction agreement they signed.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:In every response, Bishop Gold continues to deflect from the real issue at hand, which is assisting us as the customer with closing our ***.
They have not denied or refuted any claims or allegations that we have made against them highlighting their deceptive tactics and overall unwillingness to assist us in closing our account. They mentioned before that they have provided options to close the account, this is an untruthful statement as there have been no formal or documented options offered in resolving this matter.Bishop Gold mentions Equity Trust which we have been dealing with extensively and who have instructed us that they can not move forward without the cooperation of Bishop Gold since all the metals were obtained through Bishop Gold.
Bishop Gold has repeatedly mentioned phone conversations and things that were agreed upon when the account was opened, however, as stated in our last response, we have requested all information, documents, account valuation, and recorded phone conversations in an email while also again providing a death certificate and court documentation appointing us as the representatives to the estate. Bishop Gold has refused to provide that information and has failed to even responded to the email.
This latest response from Bishop Gold validates the fact that **** lied in his last conversation with me by saying that Bishop Gold was nothing more than a coin shop as Bishop Gold just highlighted the role they play in *** funding.
What Bishop Gold continues to do in their responses in this matter is consistent with their unethical and deceptive sales tactics by throwing out irrelevant information to muddy the waters to deflect from actually helping resolve the matter.
All we are asking for is some fair way to close out the account. We have told Bishop Gold that we are willing to work with them to come to a satisfactory resolution, however they continue to be uncooperative and unwilling to resolve anything.
Sincerely,
***** *****Business Response

Bishop Gold Group is a retail physical precious metals broker. Bishop Gold Group is NOT a financial custodian. In regards to opening or closing any types of *** accounts - that is a question for the *** custodian to whom the account was opened with. Bishop Gold Group sells physical precious metals to clients all throughout *****************. It is entirely up to the client whether they wish to purchase physical metals using *** funds or not.
As stated in previous responses, the complainant's father purchased precious metals products from Bishop Gold Group in December of 2021. The complainant's father elected to purchase the aforementioned precious metals products using *** funds. Bishop Gold Group delivered all agreed upon precious metals products to the client's Delaware Depository Account as indicated by the client. This transaction was completed over three years ago.

I am rejecting this response because:
Bishop Gold continues to deflect from the issue at hand by their generic responses. The *** in question is a retirement account which is backed by the precious metals obtained through Bishop Gold. Retirement accounts get paid out, and thats the step were trying to accomplish. This whole process with Bishop Gold appears to be a scam and their unwillingness to work with us as a client should be a clear reflection of that.
when I started conversations with Bishop Gold, they very clearly stated that they provide payouts and disbursements as *** accounts are typically paid out. As this complaint process has progressed, they are now refusing to do so.
Speaking with several other precious metals dealers, they have all stated that customers buy precious metals from them and when the customer begins to close out their accounts, the company involved in the process provides disbursements by buying back the metals to fund the retirement account. ********************** Gold is taking a clear stance that they will gladly take a customers money to buy precious metals, but when a customer (us in this situation) wants to close their account or take disbursements, they refuse and turn their back on the customer. This is clearly a scam as theyre misleading customers with unethical business practices and essentially stealing peoples retirement money.
Even in previous messages on this complaint, Bishop Gold clearly stated that options have been offered in terms of closing the account (which is a false statement as they can not provide any documented proof reflecting same). Now their stance is that they have no more role or obligation. We are clearly being scammed.
We want to close the account or begin disbursement payments. We are working with the custodian company ************, who cant make any payouts or do anything with the account without the cooperation of Bishop Gold.
Sincerely,
***** *****Initial Complaint

I am writing to formally file a complaint against Bishop Gold Group regarding my investment ************* April 2024, I invested $80,000 with the firm, anticipating growth in accordance with the rising prices of gold and silver. However, as of now, my investment has significantly dropped to approximately $35,000, which is both alarming and disappointing.Despite my attempts to contact Bishop Gold Group for clarification and a detailed account statement, I have not received any satisfactory responses or explanations regarding the drastic decline in my investment. I am concerned about the lack of transparency and communication from the ********** a 77-year-old veteran, I rely on my investments for financial security, and this situation has caused me considerable stress. I would appreciate your assistance in addressing this issue and ensuring that my concerns are heard.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Business Response

Bishop Gold Group takes all complaints and customer experience very seriously, and has since spoken with our customer addressing the above referenced concerns. The custodial statement mentioned only provides a valuation based on the spot price of the precious metals content of gold and silver coins, and does not represent a cash value dealer bid price. Bishop Gold Group has provided an accurate valuation as dealer of record, and our customer considers the matter to be resolved. Bishop Gold Group recommends that our customer continues to follow up with Bishop Gold Group for accurate valuations of products purchased from Bishop Gold Group.Initial Complaint

I was provided a buyback invoice that the company is not honoring. As metals prices are increasing they are offering below wholesale and not honoring their original agreement.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2023/01/20) */ The Consumer has admittedly made a mistake and has reached out to the *** to rescind his initial complaint.
