On 2/26/2024 at approx. 8:45am, I took my 2 pound 19-week-old puppy Makenzee to Standiford Veterinary Center in Modesto, Ca. center because earlier in that morning (2/26/2024), it appeared to me that ******** had exhibited a wobbly and seemingly off behavior. Her blood was drawn, and it took almost five hours to receive the results. When I finally received the results, I was told that the results were abnormal, and that ******** was at the point of death, and I was advised that she need to be hospitalized. I was charged an additional $2243.75 in addition to the initial $908.00 that I had already paid. I left Makenzee hospitalized at the center and they took additional unauthorized tests. While home, I received a call from a doctor stating that there was an error with their computer, resulting in ********'s lab results being erroneous and that another lab draw from ******** was performed showing normal results and that she didn't have any medical condition. I then realized that ******** had been put through trauma, poked with needles, injected with medications that she didn't need and put through 11 hours of unnecessary trauma. I had also been traumatized for 11 hours of trauma and horror. I realized that Standiford staff could have killed my puppy for lack of proper care and attention. While at the center, staff racially discriminated against me, spoke to me extremely disrespectfully, and disregarded me. The doctor purposely omitted the lab error in Makenzee's medical records and did not notate treating Makenzee erroneously. I spoke with a manager named ***, who on 2/27/2024, spoke to me very nicely while he tried to smooth over the error and sweep it under the table. However, on 3/1/2024, when I asked for the medical records and for the records to be corrected showing staff mixed up **********'s lab results, *** became angry and spoke rudely to me. The fact is that staff lied about having a computer problem and the problem is that staff made a major error!

I am rejecting this response because: *************** and the doctor are lying in an attempt to protect the image of Standiford Veterinary Clinic. *** and the doctor have attempted to conceal the MAJOR staff negligence by omitting the lab work error from ********'s records. *** and the doctor have also attempted to keep this massive staff error internal, which is why ********'s intial records (2/26/2024) do not indicate that there was a the lab work mix-up.

The lab work mix-up error was NOT addressed in ********'s records until I DEMANDED that the doctor correct Makenzee's 2/26/2024 medical records. I demanded that ********'s medical records be revised to indicate that the critical lab values that are placed into her 2/26/2024 medical records ****** indicate that those lab values DO NOT BELONG TO ********, which is the right and ethical thing to do on the doctor's *******

After I demanded the records contain the omitted information, *** became very upset that I complained and called him and the doctor out on them purposely trying to omitt the staffing error and conceal the staff's error at ********'s expense. Clearly, the staff at this office are not honest and they do NOT have good work ethic.

I have attached two sets of medical records. In review of the 2/26/2024 medical records, you will observe that page 9 on the 2/26/2024 records only contains discharge information. However, in review of page 9 on the 3/1/2024 revised records, you will observed that *** and the doctor added a false statement saying that the doctor ******** me that the error may be due to staff.

The statement is false because as I previously stated, on 2/26/2024 when I spoke with the doctor, he only stated that the incident was due to a computer problem. However, when I spoke to *** and told him that I was aware of the staff's mistake, *** admitted that the error was due to staff negligence.

I will NOT be satisfied and stop pursuing justice in this matter until *** and the doctor's lies are exposed, until they both are held accountable for omitting medical evidence from a legal document and until they be held accountable for administering medial treatment to Makenzee which should have been given to another pet!

Standiford Veterinary Clinic has multiple complaints against it. Standiford Veterinary Clinic has a very bad reputation on Yelp and also other social media sites. It is time that Standiford Veterinary ********* exposed and held accountable for their unethical business and horrible customer service.

I am rejecting this response because: I forgot to add information.to my response that: The doctor omitting their error of lab work in Makenzee's initial medical records has caused her an insurance issue. The insurance company is questioning the accuracy of ********'s medical records and is delaying service.

      Thank you,

      ***********************;

I am appealing ***************************** rejection regarding the incident involving *********.  We take full responsibility for the error that occurred and wish to rectify any misunderstandings.

Upon discovering the mistake, we promptly informed ******************, demonstrating transparency and a commitment to resolving the issue.  We immediately ceased the medications Mackenzee was on and provided guidance to ****************** on the next steps.

In our previous correspondence, we outlined that we refunded ****************** for all expenses related to *********'s testing, hospitalization , and medications.  Additionally, we have diligently collaborated with the insurance company by furnishing all requested records and information to facilitate the claims process.  We have taken corrective measures to ensure the integrity of the lab work being reported moving forward.  ******* care is our highest priority.

      Customer response

      03/26/2024

I am rejecting this response because: after Standiford discovered the mistake, the doctor lied about who was responsible for the error. Also, after the mistake was discovered, I requested that in good faith and in good ethical practice, that Standiford Veterinary Clinic cover the entire bill, including the $474.00 that I was charged. I requested all fees be waived as this would have shown the least bit of remose for Standiford staff's negligence and the trauma that the staff caused Makenzee and I. However, my request for a financial wash was rejected. This rejection clearly shows how Standiford DOES NOT care about Makenzee or their horrible mistake. It is CLEAR that Standiford Veterinary Clinic staff and management only cares about making money.  Makenzee should have never been tested for Parvo or treated at Standiford Veterinary Clinic, as it was discovered that she DID NOT have ANY medical condition, diagnosis or blood disorder requiring treatment!

Also, Standiford is requesting an appeal to my rejection on the basis that when the doctor discovered the mistake, Standiford reimbursed the fees that I was charged for the unwarranted services rendered to Makenzee.  Standiford is also requesting an appeal to my rejection on the basis stating that Standiford has sent records to *****************************

Excuse me, but this is what Standiford is supposed to do. This is their staff's job, not a charity act towards Makenzee or myself. Again, Standiford's staff's behavior is unbelievable, to say the least!  How about the constant harrassment that I have endured by the insurance company due to the lab work error? Since 2/16/2024, I have been harrassed my **************************** regarding her "having a blood disorder which appears to be a "PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITION" which is NOT covered by her insurance!

The worst part of the harrassment that I am CONSTANTLY receiving from **************************** due to Standiford's negligence is that the blood disorder lab work that was mistakenly diagnosed for Makenzee and placed in her medical records us that it does not belong to her. This has resulted in the insurance company REPEATEDLY CALLING ME, HARASSING ME, AND INQUIRING ABOUT THIS FAKE, critical labwork values that are shown in Makenzee's Standiford **************** medical records!

To this date, I have not been able to rectify Standiford's lab work mistake in her records OR RECEIVE ANY COMPENSATION FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR THE $474.00 that Standiford charged me. Standiford's mistake has caused me GREAT TRAUMA, caused me loss of work time and countless STRESS!!!!!!!

Makenzee now has on file that she has a PRE-EXISTING BLOOD DISORDER WITH HER WHITE BLOOD COUNT!!!!!!!!!!! It is a shame that the doctor OMITTED ************ medical information out of Makenzee's Standiford medical records. The insurance company questions who is lying because of the discrepancy that is shown in both sets of Standiford's records for Makenzee.

Standiford has NOT done Makenzee nor I any favors nor provided us any resolve regarding this matter.

I took my four year old French bulldog to this veterinarian on Thursday, September 6 and was told my dog couldnt be seen till he took a Parvo test even though he had all his shots. I kept telling the Vet that his testicles looked infected and she totally ignored it. They just want your money. I spent $919 and 6 hours for them just to tell me he had gastrointestinal problems. A week later his testicles are dripping blood. This place is a joke! He was misdiagnosed and all they want is your money! I pray this place gets shut down for the sake of other families and their fur babies and their wallets. We ended up taking him elsewhere and spent $1800 for him to get castrated and his test goals would be sent to a lab to test for any tumors but that $919 was totally unnecessary amount of money to spend

On September 6th, ***** was brought to Standiford Veterinary Center with concerns about vomiting and diarrhea that had persisted since Sunday, September 3rd, spanning a period of three days. ****** a 3-year-old male French Bulldog, is under the care of ************************* and is up to date with his Parvovirus vaccinations, as confirmed by the owner.

It's noteworthy that an increasing number of fully vaccinated patients are being seen at Standiford Vet with similar symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea, raising concerns about the possibility of Parvovirus infections in these young dogs. To ensure the safety of all patients and mitigate the risk of spreading this highly contagious and potentially fatal virus, we have implemented a policy requiring all dogs with these symptoms to undergo testing before entering our facility.

Given that *****'s primary complaint was vomiting and diarrhea, the initial diagnostic workup focused on addressing these clinical signs. Appropriate medications were administered to alleviate his symptoms. While ****** consented to bloodwork, she declined to proceed with X-rays due to concerns about a potential gastrointestinal foreign body.

In addition to the primary complaint, ****** mentioned that *****'s testicles appeared abnormal during the examination. ************** conducted a thorough assessment and noted mild irritation in the testicular area. However, as the primary concern was related to vomiting and diarrhea, ************** recommended a follow-up visit if *****'s condition did not improve

We do not feel a refund is appropriate

I am rejecting this response because: just because an animal is seen in the hospital for diarrhea and vomiting does not mean it is Parvo. Animals in general vomit or have diarrhea just over something that they have eaten or perhaps an infection. I clearly stated that his testicles  looked very inflamed and they completely overlooked it and offered     x-rays?

I dont think they understand the fact that I spent almost $1000 and my dog was still in pain. Yes, I was told to bring him back in, but what was I going to spend another thousand dollars for a misdiagnosis.

Like most reviews shown on ****** and yelp, this place clearly does not care about your money and does not care about your pet.

Our dog, Coco has been a patient at Standiford Veterinary Clinic for over 8 years, we have never been required to have an annual exam and blood test for her to refill her prescription of Rimadyl which is an arthritis medication. Once I ordered the medication online at Chewy.com which costs $22 on Chewy and $64 at Standiford Vet for the same medication, they denied the order, called and said our dog has to have an annual exam and they will only provide one last refill filled by Standiford Vet not Chewy.com. This vet is trying to price ***** long time customers. Until we tried to get the medicine at a cheaper price there was no mention of an annual exam or blood test being required. Additionally, our dogs current prescription shows three refills left, now this vet told me this is her last refill until she is seen. Our dog has been on this medication for several years and this was never a requirement until the day we tried to get her prescription through an online provide for a fraction of the cost.
