On Sunday 10/20/24 I paid for a parent account with DK12 through ******. On Monday 10/21/24 my daughter started DK12 school and there were issues with the instructional videos so I emailed the support team around 9:30 that morning. Didn't receive a response after several hours I emailed the billing department to close my parent account and refund my money. It states on their website that you can receive a refund within 14 days of purchase. It's day 3 now and I have yet to receive a response from billing or a refund. The tech team did finally respond at 3:04 the next morning but by then we had already asked for the account to be closed and a refund.Initial Complaint

This company is a fraud ! I initial set up Discoveryk12 for my child on October *******. The website states that their online curriculum is free and for $99.00 I can have access to a "Parent Account " which gives me progress report, answer keys and easily produce transcripts amongst several other fake claims. The Parent Portal does Nothing there is nothing to click on there is nothing to access. I have sent them several emails in regards to multiple charges on my account and they have not responded. I have set up several claims through my ****** account, which is how I paid them initially and they keep charging me through my ****** account. I cancel my subscription and they somehow keep being able to charge and re- activate my subscription each time charging me $99.00. I have taken "snip its" of charges. They have charged me 3 to 4 times in one day on numerous days . Please see "snip its" of the my pay pal account and all the claims I have filed for their fraudulent business practices.Business Response

First, Id like to apologize for any inconvenience, this has caused you. Im unsure why so many charges occurred we have absolutely no way to make a charge. That can only be done by the buyer on their end, and I can only assume that it was an error through ****** . Discovery K12 refuse to refund the $99 they took from me. My daughter no longer a student there. They have a auto pay system with ****** and they refuse to refund me. Totally unfair I trusted them.Business Response

The company's team can not perform a refund a subscription renewal. This is the customers responsibility to manage their subscriptions and renewals through occur exactly one year from the date of purchase. Customer must contact the billing department for assistance before the transaction takes place. Once it is processed the billing team is unable to cancel the automatic payment from going through and the account will then be active for 12 months. To process a refund it must be within the first 14 days from the date the customer first upgraded. This is clearly stated in the companies return policy, located in the terms and services and the checkout through *******

We purchased a year's subscription last year assuming it was a one-time payment. It was not. It actually sets up an automatic payment, which we didn't realize or remember. Discovery K12 does not send any reminder that an automatic payment is upcoming, so the payment for this year took us by surprise. It's an honest oversight since the payments are a year apart. They took the money from our account on September 1st. I contacted them on September 1st explaining that we would not be using their service this year and asked for a refund. They sent an email explaining how to cancel the automatic payment and a copy of their no-refund policy. Subsequent emails have gone unanswered. I filled a dispute with ****** and they responded to that, but they won't respond to me; the customer with a paid account. They send all sorts of emails every day, but they can't send a payment reminder one time a year so people can cancel ahead of time? Then they refuse to refund the money and stop communicating. It stinks of a scam. I can understand their policy if someone started using the service for the second year and then asked to cancel and be refunded. We did not use the service at all. I contacted them within hours of the payment being withdrawn, but they refuse to refund our money and they are not communicating with us at all anymore.Initial Complaint

On August 17, 2024, I was charged a renewal fee of $99 for their parent account.I had tried to cancel the subscription previously and was unable to find where or how to do that on their platform. When I was charged, I reached out and was told I had to go through ****** to cancel the recurring payment, that there *is* nowhere to cancel inside the platform.So I canceled through ******.Then I was told to email a different department, and that department informed me they only perform refunds for new subscriptions, not ones that were charged on a recurrent payment.I responded immediately upon receiving the email that I don't feel this is satisfactory and would like to communicate with the next person up the ladder in the department, and I received no response.Initial Complaint

In September of 2023 I purchased a parent account with **********************. Since then, when I access it I can't find HER grades. I see 12th grade assignments and kindergarten assignment. She's in 6th grade. I have contacted them about this several times. Including the fact that most links my daughter clicks on to learn about something, is not secured and most don't even work. They charge a recurring fee of ***** a year through PayPal. The instructions they have to cancel do not work on PayPal. When I log in to PayPal to cancel the subscription it does not show anywhere in active or inactive subscription. On 11/04/2023 they charged me $99 for a recurring charge that I was not aware of or given any notice of. I stopped using their homeschool curriculum and parent account in May 2023. It has been 6 months since Ive been to their website and my kids are back in public school and wont need the account anymore and theyre refusing to give me a refund. $99 for a program we aren't using!Discovery k12 is cool for giving your child busy work, but isn't worth the $99 we spent on it. Especially when that $99 is recurring and there's no way to cancel it on their site. You have to cancel through PayPal and God forbid you don't catch it before it comes out. They tell you it can't be refunded because it's a recurring fee. They only offer a refund within 14 days of the initial purchase. I really hate that I didn't catch the cancellation before they snatched it out of my account. They don't even send a courtesy email stating that the payment is about to come out. You'd think that if your kid isn't using the program, they'd know you aren't using it either.They need to have an annual enrollment and if you don't re-enroll or if your child doesn't login for 2 weeks, that means they are no longer in the program. They also need to send out a renewal reminder like most decent companies. As well as make it easier to contact them.Initial Complaint

Unfortunately, we also got into a story where we were charged this tuition fee, which we did not use this year, our children went to school and today, September 21, 2023, we were charged the amount of $99.00 for tuition. for 23 years. -24 years without my permission and agreement. I think this is an illegal platform DiskoveryK-12, you can always get your money back, I think these people should be punished, this is a lot of money for my family,and I can't bring them back, unfortunately why ??? there are many amazing platforms where ***************** gets in touch, helps solve any problem, but here they completely ignore the, this platform they love money, not children DiskoveryK-12??Business Response
