If you care about your pet, DON'T take them here! The manager who is also an owner here is absolutely terrible. Three major reasons you shouldn't board here: 1) the reservation process is sloppy 2) staff don't seem to care about having the customers leash their dogs upon pickup/arrival both in the parking lot and the lobby area 3) my dog left with an injury which has cost my wife and I a couple thousand in vet bills. I made my boarding reservation weeks in advance prior to boarding them in early October. I was very specific in having my dog not being allowed to play with other dogs as my dog has been attacked in the past and is very timid. The manager confirmed that he had put it in the notes of my reservation that my dog will get 1 on 1 play time instead. Upon dropping my dog off, I asked to make sure the notes were in there and he wasn't going to be around other dogs. The staff member at the front said the manager never made any notes regarding signing my dog up for individual 1 on 1 play time. If I hadn't asked, my dog would be put in a giant play area with other dogs of all shapes/sizes to play with. It is a play area which at that time had roughly 15 dogs or so playing together. If your dog is anxious around other dogs, be cautious about this if you do decide to board here. Upon dropping my dog there is also other customers inside the lobby and outside who just have their dogs roaming around with no leash. When my dog was attacked it was by an off leash dog, so having other dogs off leash around is a major concern. There is a California Leash Law. A pet boarding facility should follow that law and require owners leash their pets for the safety of others while on their premises. Lastly, when I had picked up my dog he had a slight limp. I had asked the staff about it and they had told me that he was running around quite a bit during play time. When I got home he just stood there in my entry way with his paw up, and did not want to put pressure on the paw. I looked at the paw and he squealed. Looking closer there was a gash in between his toes that looked to be infected and was oozing puss. I called and spoke to a manager and he simply did not seem to care, and told me that he did not get that injury there. Took my dog to the emergency room vet to be seen and they had sedated him for surgery to have the paw inspected to see if anything foreign was in there and close the wound. Nothing foreign was present, and they said it's more than likely he injured it on something. When calling back to the manager at Dawg Gone It, he continued to deny that my dog got his injury there, did not seem to care about my concern for my pet, and tried suggesting to me that my pet got injured before I boarded him. I boarded him for 9 days at Dawg Gone It for vacation. Prior to that vacation he had no injuries. I love my pet and care for him very much. The manager was completely unprofessional and I find it hard to believe that he is in charge of this facility where they are supposed to care for your pets. My dog ended up having to have a second surgery at the emergency vet because of how infected it was and it was not healing. My dog has gone through two surgeries for this wound and a ton of medicine. In addition he has had to wear the cone since the day I picked him up from Dawg Gone It on October 18th. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone if you care about the health and safety of your pet! The manager, he is completely unprofessional. This place has no accountability, lacks professionalism and safety protocol and has a high likeliness of your pet also leaving with an injury. You should never consider them as a viable option to board your pet here.
