I purchased a subscription under the impression that it was $1 because of curiosity about availability and was then charged nearly $50 without being aware that this was the fee. I would like to be refunded because I simply can not afford to pay $50 for something that helps me noneBusiness response

In response to complaint, 16365474 our findings show that the customer successfully enrolled in a ***** $1.00 trial membership on Dec 7, 2021 to irenttown. After the trial ended, the customer did not contact us to cancel her subscription. As per the agreement the customer acknowledged,she was charged $49.60 for the monthly membership. Although our records do not indicate that the membership was canceled, we have refunded the monthly membership fee 49.60 of on Dec. 14, 2021.Initial Complaint

On January 22 I did a 7 day trial for a dollar with irenttoown.com.i cancelled it the same day as I was unable to log on. I called them in February and was told I didn't have an account with them. I've called every month and they refuse to give me my money back or cancel it. I finally received a email in August saying it was cancelled. Money has still been taking out each month. I cancelled my debit card last month and somehow they have my new card number. The only thing I can think of is that have spyware.Business response

After the trial ended, the customer did not contact us to cancel her subscription. I was charged ***** and I was under the impression that it was 1$ for a listing of rent to own properties and when they charged me I could not get a hold of a human to get my money back. Had I have known that the add was tricking me I never would have paid the 1$ with my credit card so they could turn around and charge me nearly $50 for something I was just curious about, I am not even in the market for a house, I cant afford $50 never mind a house!Business response

In response to complaint #********, our findings show that the customer successfully enrolled in a ***** $1.00 trial membership on Sept 6th 2021, to IRENTTOOWN.
After the trial ended, the customer did not contact us to cancel her subscription. As per the agreement the customer acknowledged, she was charged $49.60 for the monthly membership. Although our records do not indicate that the membership was canceled, we have refunded the monthly membership fee in full on Oct 28th, 2021.

Our records show that we did attempt to call the customer. We did cancel the account on 9/16 and we attempted to call again on September 28 - no success. Based on our investigation, we have no reason to doubt the validity of the charges. As per our policy, we have refunded the amounts as a courtesy.
The customer signed up for a ***** $1 trial on 2/3/21. She never contacted us to cancel so she was charged $49.60 on 2/10/21. She has been charged monthly since then. In order to register the account, the customer had to provide us with a valid credit card number and address matching the information of the customer's card issuer. In addition, she would have had to enter the *** number on the back of the card - meaning the card was in her possession. We have no way of knowing this information unless provided by the customer or someone with the customer's information. The charges along with our name and contact number would have been appearing on her statement since February.
