I chose fileyourtaxes.com from the IRS's list of "trusted partners" and clearly meet the eligibility requirements listed to file for free (my age and income are well within the permitted limits). My return is totally basic (W-2, one dependent). After going through the entire process and submitting my return before tax day, they informed me it would be $55 for the federal return. How can the IRS allow this??? They should be removed from the trusted partners list and added to "unethical companies to avoid" list. It's blatant false advertising preying on lower income folks like me. Oh, and when I tried to call them, their website warns that email is free but calling them comes with "fees". And not surprisingly, they haven't responded to any of my emails. I hope the BBB and the IRS will shut then down!!

Filed our Federal and State returns on 01/28/2024. Federal return was accepted the next day. The State return sat unacknowledged for four weeks. They state your State return would be acknowledged within 4 days after Federal acceptance. After we file by mail, paper copies to the state, all of a sudden the State is accepted. This company can't be trusted. Don't use them. We won't be using them again.

It took two hours to finish a simple W2 Single no dependents or extras return. No way to save data as you go. Just kicks you out for you protection, then you get to re-enter lots of stuff over and over. At the very end, my free filing from the IRS trusted list, was not free. I closed it out with providing credit card info. I feel violated and duped by the IRS and File your taxes. I did reach out by email to inquire why it was not free for me. According to the eligibility requirements on the IRS and their own site there should not have been a credit card request for $45. I met the age and AIG eligibility for free filing. I requested direct deposit. I live in CA. Is that the issue?

I was supposed to be able to file free. Nothing special just standard W2 info, standard deduction, simple stuff. I get to the end of the process to file and a list of options come up for payments based on what protections I want. I chose None option for $0.00 but the $44.95 charge would not change to 0.00. I will not use them this year and will try to delete my account before they charge me.

Pretty shoddy work Filed my federal return ok, but filed my state return on the previous year's tax form I kept waiting for acceptance notices like I got from TurboTax, but no luck When I went on the state's "where's my return" site, I always got a generic lack of information I eventually filed a paper return, but I don't know if I will get my $40 filing fee back

I chose FileYourTaxes.com through the IRS.gov website listing free tax preparation services as they were listed as a "trusted partner". That may be true, but they should NOT be trusted! I found most of the process to file my federal return fairly easy to follow, but they had a tiny button at the top of the screen that I didn't even see was there that showed my return as it was filled out. If I had known that was there, I would have checked it before submitting my return, but it WAS NOT CLEAR I HAD THAT OPTION. There was a list of forms, but since I had no idea what the forms were, besides the usual 1040 form, I didn't know what I was looking at, and I didn't know there was incorrect information on the return until AFTER it was filed. There should be a clear warning on the site as to reviewing the information on the forms that would be submitted, BEFORE THEY ARE SUBMITTED!! I had no idea the information on the forms was incorrect, but there was a schedule I did not put the information for anywhere, I have no idea where the figures came from as I did NOT enter them, and it is incorrect. Now I have to wait for the IRS to process it, and/or reject it, and if accepted, I have to file an amended return. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS SERVICE, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE USE IT, AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!! DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID.

They are out to get your bank information and deliver no services. A total scam! Please avoid giving them any information. They will give you nothing in return.

I honestly don't think I ever used them. Now I am getting emails telling me that my 'account' will be deleted if I don't log on. Really? Maybe they are a scam. Now if it goes through the IRS it shouldn't be a scam, but is this through the IRS????

I am very concerned about FileYourTaxes.com. I filed my taxes just before the deadline. It looked like everything was going through just fine. About an hour or two after submitting my returns I received an invoice from FileYourTaxes saying I owed them over $50 to complete and submit my tax returns. I expected to pay something but I was NEVER informed during the process that I would be invoiced for over $50. Some people would call this business practice extortion.... I went ahead and paid it but that was a mistake. I should have switched to another website. It is now June 6th and I cannot even log into their web site to check my account and see if my taxes were actually filed. At this point I would say avoid FileYourTaxes.com at all costs. There are vastly better tax preparation web sites out there.

It is the worst. Don't use them. I started my taxes with them on April 8, 2023. The federal tax form went just fine. But the state form had 0 for my income, 0 for everything. So I emailed them and it took days to get a reply. I tried what they suggested, it didn't work so I emailed them again.... and again. Long story short, they didn't help much and their site began to crash off and on (mostly off) through the weeks until the 17th of April. I had been emailing them back and forth so I didn't go to another site but continued to believe it would work out. Then they tried to charge me $150. I complained and they "refunded" me. Finally on the 17th I found they had someone's else account and information on my account. Does someone have my information? I don't know. I can't tell. I hope not. I went to turbotax and paid $125. IT was great.

Hi A****** Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry that you did not have the experience you expected. After reviewing your account it seems you started more than one return, and this can create some confusion. When you did complete the process you were asked to pay the fees for your federal and state returns. Our fees are posted at our website where you started your return, FileYourTaxes.com. To see the fees, click Pricing at the top of the page to see the fee for constructing a tax return with us. We appreciate you reaching out to our customer service team, and we were able to offer you a free federal return as a customer service. We do not see you making a payment for our services or a refund with the account information you provided in this review. We are sorry that you elected to not pay the state fee of $50.00 and elected another product, however if we can be of any service to you or if you did submit a payment that we do not see, please call us at ************.
