Purchased a product from a seller on their site and was charged even though the item was never delivered. Tried to stop the charge from happening until I received my package but there is no way to actually speak to a person, you can only submit tickets through their automated system on their app or website and it gives the same generic response each time. Will never do business on this website again and will not recommend to anyone due to the fraud that is acceptable and possible.Review from Kisha B

THIS COMPANY WRONGFULLY APPROVED A RETURN OF AN **** THAT WASNT THE CORRECT **** AFTER I WARNED THEM THAT IT WASNT MY **** THAT THE ***** TOOK PICTURES OF , ONCE I RECEIVED THE RETURN THE ***** NEVER SENT THE CORRECT **** AND MECARI ONLY GAVE ME CREDIT SO I LOST OUT ON MY MONEY AND THE **** ITSELF THEY ALLOWED PEOPLE TO SCAM SELLERS AND LOSE OUT ON MONEY I DEFINITELY WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANYReview from Misty H

I purchased a rare ****** Precious Moment. Upon opening the box, it was revealed that the item was broken. The seller wrapped it in several layers of tissue paper and placed it in a box that was too big for the item. Mercari auto submitted a review for me before I could rate the item myself. I contacted the seller with my issue and was ignored. I wrote their customer service and was told since it had been rated that nothing could be done. Im out the money and have a broken item.Review from Sharon G

DO NOT USE MERCARI !! I'm so frustrated with their HORRIBLE customer service after being scammed. I purchased two ceramic halloween decorations that were listed as "new" when they arrived I cut the packing tape that was holding them together. They both fell apart. The box had no damage at all. They were dusty and and I could see where they have cracks on the areas that didnt break off. When the pieces were put back together there were chips and missing paint. It's apparent they were glued together before shipping. When I contacted customer service they requested pictures of the items, the box and packing material. I sent pictures of both items still in the wrapping since it started falling apart I didn't remove them completely. And I took pictures of all sides of the box and the packing material as they requested. I got a second message requesting the exact same pictures. By this time I had unwrapped them completely and took pictures of them in pieces, the box and packing material inside the box again. I received a third message requesting verbatim the pictures I sent twice already! So obviously a scam!!!!! ~ **************Review from Robin S

I purchased a button up shirt from a seller on Mercari. The shirt was listed as a woman's shirt in the women's category but is in fact a men's. The sizing is way off. I contacted the seller and got no response so I contacted Mercari about the issue. I was instructed to provide photos ( 6 minimum) of all sides of the shirt and the packaging it came in. They asked this for a sizing issue? Anyhow, I complied. My request for return was denied! They said the shirt was as described! No, it isn't. There's a big difference between a men's large and a woman's large. Mens shirts button on the right, women's on the left. This shirt buttons on the right. It was not possible to see the way it buttoned the way the seller showed it in the listing. So I am supposed to keep a shirt that does not fit because why?? I can not believe the lack of knowledge and support from Mercari.Review from Beth N

I sold an item on Mercari and the transaction was immediately canceled with no explanation. I was then told my account would be limited and suspended. I contacted Mercari immediately and got a message to expect a response within 5 hours. I got a generic bot response the NEXT DAY. Two days later I got another response telling me I was being referred to another department. Its been three days since and still no response. All I did was list a digital camera for sale and sell it. Mercari has one of the worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with.Review from ANGELA B

I shouldve read these truly horrendous reviews before even starting with this company. Not only do they take an obscene part of any sale you make, their customer service is absolute trash. I ordered a cosmetic that was labeled 'new and sealed' and it arrived opened. I sent them the literal 20 photos they requested and they said since it was 'tampered with' it could not be returned. So I'm punished because someone sent me a product that was not new. DO NOT do business with this company. If I could give negative stars I would.Review from Kel S

I purchased a set of sheets for $72. Seller stated they were in excellent condition but were well used. I told Mercari about it and they said to take pictures but I don't have the ability to do that plus pictures wouldn't show my concerns. I called customer service but a message states that it is no good based on my location (**). I kept trying via email to get help on mailing but received no assistance. I mailed the sheets back to the seller and the item has been relisted for a lower price. I contacted my credit card company, AmEx, for a credit. They issued it prior to contact with Mercari. It was then refused so I sent documentation about the item being relisted but Mercari still states that item was not returned. I reached out again to Mercari this week stating my case but was given no help and that they had no record of the return. I mentioned they can see it on the sellers page and then reached out to BBB as I feel I'll get nowhere due to the past horrible service they've provided me regarding this case. I've never had worse customer service or treated so badly as I have with Mercari.Review from Melissa D

I sold an item on this platform and the customer sent it back horribly damaged and mercari is responding to the complaint and I did the complaint with 12 hours after the item was received damaged. I have a witness to the item as it was packaged horribly. I want to be reimbursed on this item.
