1 starMercari Sold me a Ryobi drill in Jan 2025. I suffered great difficulties with them as it was shipped incredibly poorly in a damaged large box with a flimsy piece of shrink wrap , no packing slip. I'm fairly certain that it was damaged to begin with and made worse by the shipping. The box had several gaps and I'm surprised the drill remained in the box! It was described as "NEW" which I assumed was in the original box. I contacted them to complain about how it was sent, after two weeks of back and forth with their severely incompetent employees who were stating I wanted a return, when I didn't. I let it go. Yesterday 5/8/2025 after having the drill for months I finally had occasion to use it. It smoked, it wouldn't work right and overheated quickly. I would not trust them. I will never use them again and spread the work that they are unreliable.Review fromCarl B

1 starNO Buyer Protection whatsoever. Mercari allows sellers to ship defective products then automatically closes sale after ********************************************************************************** even allow buyer to contact seller. If you are out of town and the product is delivered non-working even when listing claims "WORKS GREAT" you are completely out of luck. Mercari customer support is NON-EXISTENT. Only provide automated replies that your purchase has been automatically closed after 72 hours and no refunds nor returns are allowed. Funny how Mercari automatically charges a "BUYER PROTECTION FEE" on the sale which means absolutely NOTHING. There is ZERO buyer protection. They have a thousand word Return Policy which is a legal way to scam buyers. They actually scoffed saying the Better Business Bureau and my ******************* would do nothing to help me because their airtight 72 hour limitation protects them from any chargebacks regardless of defective products. Mercari has a one star rating on BBB and Trust Pilot for good reason. Mercari will hurt you and pocket your money!Review fromErika D

1 starMercari advertises coupons and discounts, but once you place the order they do not apply the discount you saw. I reach out to cancel or return and they will not honor the discount they wont work with you to return. They dont have a way to call them they dont have any way to resolve an issue. They overcharged me and I have no other choice but to dispute the charge. They have changed their fees as well many times and are just a very shady business. I would highly suggest proceeding with caution. I have their customer service every opportunity to help me and they refused. Oh, this was over $2 by the way. Literally $2. I have never encountered worse customer service in my entire life. I was supposed to get 10% off for Earth Day. They didnt apply the discount, lie constantly and cite false timeframes for purchase and then back peddle and gaslight you. I am so disgusted by their conduct. Mercari needs to be shut down. 1 starBeen a seller on Mercari for less than a year and its been good. As a buyer, I requested customer support to give me a full refund on one order that was lost in transit and theyre stating that package was delivered and the amount will go to the seller. The seller, the carrier, and I have all of the screenshots that say the package was lost in transit. I am appalled by the false accusations that customer support is stating and having me to reach out to my carrier again even though I have all of the documentation stating that they never received the package. Mercari needs to fix this as it is deterring me away from selling or buying on this platform.Review fromCarrie L

2 starsI have been a seller on Mercari for many years and I am very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and lack of progress pertaining to the customer support team. I have no complaints about the app itself, rather it's employees. When reaching out with an issue such as lost package or package not delivered, they respond with a very automated canned message that says the same thing. You also get different answers from the automated response and when you actually get to talk to someone. For example, when a package that I sold shows "delivered" to the buyer and they buyer reaches out to Mercari to inform them they did not actually get the product, Mercari places a status of "Buyer Requested Return" on the item which is terribly incorrect and confusing. Then as a buyer, the email states that they are following up with the carrier and it can take up to 7 days. After day 7, I reach out and I get different answers. One CS representative will say they will cancel in 30 days, one said 7 days, and many of them say the item is still in transit which is not true! **** says delivered, but then they remove tracking from the item so you can't see that. I am very frustrated with this company and I know so many other who are as well. But I guess they don't read these because nothing changes.Just beware sellers. If you can stick it out and deal with the awful customer service, it is a good place to sell items. Sad it can't be an awesome place to sell items.Review fromRandall A

1 starMercari Forced a return from a scammer, originally awarded me money, then took the money from my account. No explanation provided. Item was never shipped back, there's no record of it being shipped back. Tried to contact Mercari after seeking help on their website. Called 4 times, was put on hold waiting for an agent, after 3 -4 minutes, a voice stated the wait time exceeded 10 minutes and I was disconnected. 1 starMercari does back up their sellers or buyers. I received the wrong item from the seller, I offered to send it back so I could get the item I ordered, and Mercari refused to send a return label. I actually had to contact my bank to get a refund for not receiving the item I ordered. Which, not only did the seller lose out but so did Mercari, when my item was charged back by their bank.Review fromAnzulo W

1 starI paid $24 for a three tier dishrack 2 months ago and the package got lost and stopped updating. I messaged the seller and they said it was being held at a post office in California with a new tracking number. I found it to be strange because I had a *** tracking #. *** said the package was rejected so I tried to contact Mercari support by phone and it's been saying "we're experiencing a high volume of calls at this time" for 2 straight months. No one ever answers. I've called that number every single day multiple times for the past 2 months. That was the first red flag for me.The 2nd red flag was the *** tracking stopped updating in ************************************* is in the *****************. I did a ****** search for Mercari and they have a location in ************* so I emailed Mercari Support to get my refund and they emailed me back with all these weird timelines that make no sense and all those confusing timelines have since passed. I'm glad I'm only out of $24 instead of hundreds of dollars. The same dish rack at a retail store is around $50 and I would rather shop at brick and mortar and pay full price than go through this head ache again. I've basically given up on my refund and will be deleting their app and reporting their email address as spam.Review fromEvan W

1 starWas threatened and harassed by a seller after a rating I left, reached out to support for help on numerous occasions and through multiple channels only to received canned ************'s obvious they don't care about their buyer's or seller's safety.
