in a nutshell, I sold a 40 pound box for $320 and I received $5 my end after fees and shipping readjustment because *** told Mercari it was actually 73 pounds. I was told dimensional weight thats why it translates to 73 pounds but the same exact box and weight I mailed but using pirate ship I was charged $61 and that was with $370 insurance. When I requested a supervisor, **** from Mercari he called me back. We talked on the phone. He seemed like he wanted to help. *** requested the invoice number and the order number so they could start a reimbursement process, Mercari told me they could not give me this information that they would reach out to ***, which was fine with me. A week later they got back and said that this is ***s policy there is nothing more Mercari so they will close this ticket. after talking to the supervisor, we did an online *** calculator to figure out a total for the same package that I had delivered and the total came to $175 thats a big difference from the $368. They charged me but I understand Mercari has to make their money too. I just think they could have worked with me a little closer to preventing this to escalate to what it has instead of dismissing me. I have been charged extra in the past through **** and I have also been credited because I always overestimate and round up and weight or dimensions so I was really surprised when I had such an enormous readjustment when I reached out to Mercari to ask for a breakdown on how they came up with that number and figure of $368 that they charged me. I received no response *** says I bought the label through Mercari. Theyre the ones I have to deal with.

Not only is traffic on Mercari extremely slow, But they don't care about or protect their sellers. The kept money from *** from a shipping claim, and I just got off the phone with *** about how to damage claim was completed. Mercari will not let me have any money for items that I owned, packaged and shipped. But they let a buyer make a return of item of sharp, damaged items from shipping damage after I communicated with the buyer about making a claim instead. The buyer was slow about returning the items and Mercari only allows 24 hours to inspect return boxes after the tracking was scanned as delivered. They were at the shipping pickup, which is the *********** in my small town, until I returned from my planned business trip, which was much more that 24 hours after they were scanned at the pickup point. They also didn't allow a shipping claim for *** through Mercari, telling me that Mercari decides if the items were packaged well enough of not. When I contacted them about the return, they email lectured me about shipping policies and what is covered under Mercari shipping. When I contacted them about the shipping claim, they email lectured me about return policies. They don't want to give straight answers, play straight, be honest or fair.

i recently was made aware that 3 of my very expensive chrome hearts items were sold on Mercari market place. the first item were a 1 of aore kind custom pair of jeans that are worth at least 8 thousand dollars if not more similar item are worth even more the 20k and as high as 70k. any chrome heart jeans are extremely valuable and not many are produced. but mine were even more rare since they were 1of1 pair made the seller on Mercari sold them for a measly 600 dollars which would be an instant red flag.on top of that my chrome hearts flannel shirt that originally cost 3 grand in 2008 was sold for 300. dollars the sterling silver buttons and zippers are probably worth more then 300. i then was able to find both items on grailed market place. the jeans priced at 4 grand and the shirt at 3 grand. i emailed grailed and provided them with the original receipt and emails with the manager of chrome hearts location i purchased therm in 2008. and neither of these websites were of any assistance even with all the proof i had. its rdicules in fact grailed is still allowing the seller to use the platform.

I had a package get lost in transit. Reached out to customer service they said i had to wait 30 days. In that time frame the buyer canceled the order. I was communicating with them and they never told me they were doing this. 30 days comes around I check with customer service to see where my reimbursement is and they refuse it because of the buyer asking for the cancelation. They also claim i shipped the package incorrectly. I dropped it off at an authorized drop off. What happened after that I can't control. I dont recommend selling on this platform they will rip you off. There are no insurance or protections as a seller.

I sold a perfume on here and documented every step of the process. Mercari generated a shipping label with the incorrect weight so I adjusted the weight. The buyer states that someone stole the item I shipped them and that the box was empty but they didnt blame me because it was clearly tampered with. Mercari denied me shipping protection due to changing the recommended label although the recommended label was incorrect. How does this make any sense? This is such a scam. The representative informed me that the item wasnt packaged well and when I told him I documented the entire process and have a picture of the items in a BOX with bubble wrap he immediately said it doesnt matter you changed the label so you dont get protection??? The second I said I documented the entire process he changed the reason. What????? What a joke. Do NOT sell on Mercari.

Cosmetic was unusable. The applicator disinegrated on the lipstick. 3 days and I can't return. I was not aware. They posted a 5 star review on my behalf. Run away! Do not waste your money. The company should be investigated by the attorney general!

I had an awful experience as a seller on Mercari and want to warn others before they lose money like I did. I sold a perfume to a buyer who falsely claimed it was half used just to force a return. When I received the return, I found the buyer had stolen half the product and a bonus sample I included. I reported the issue less than 27 hours after **** marked the package as delivered but Mercari denied me any seller protection because I missed their extremely vague and unreasonable 24-hour window, which apparently starts the exact minute the return is marked delivered, not the next business day like most normal companies would allow. This policy is not clearly communicated, and its being used to deny honest sellers their rights while protecting fraudulent buyers. Their customer service was completely unhelpful and dismissive, repeatedly quoting policy without any consideration for fairness or common sense.Mercari is enabling theft and fraud by buyers while refusing to back up the people who make their platform possible the sellers. There is no accountability, no ethical resolution process, and no real support when things go wrong. Avoid this platform at all costs if you value your time, money, and sanity.

Is there a way to give 0 starts instead of one? They dont deserve a star at all. I placed an order for the first time and it was a terrible experience. I ordered perfume. The seller stated it had been sent in the messages but it was over a week later before it arrived. When it arrived I was traveling. When I got home to check the perfume it had leaked and black dye was coming from the bottle. I went to put in a request for a refund and was told I was too late because it was over 3 days to put in the request. How do you review an item thats sent to your home while youre traveling? I also sent a message to the seller who didnt respond. She was probably glad to get rid of it. Long story short that was my first and last time purchasing anything from them. Any place I can report them I plan to.

I purchased an item that appeared clean in listing photos. When it arrived, it was dirty and had a strong unpleasant odor. Mercari denied my return request. They stated in email that buyers are responsible for asking a seller if an item is clean prior to sale. That is completely ridiculous. A reasonable marketplace has standards for items that can be sold and doesn't allow sellers to ship whatever trash they have lying around instead of the clean items pictured and described in the listing. Mercari effectively stole $20 from me, because I have to throw out the item as it is unhygienic and can't be used.

I spoke with customer service about being sent an empty package from a seller and they refused to do anything. This was my first and last purchase through them.
