I'm reaching out to flag a concern that has affected both myself and other residents and visitors to *****************, regarding private parking lots issuing fraudulent citations. The lot specifically in question is located at ************** I understand this is a private parking lot but this warrants investigation. I parked my vehicle here at approximately 6:30pm on Friday April 5 and paid until 2am by using the pay machine and putting the receipt on the dashboard on my car, clearly visible. I came back to my car at approximately 9:30pm with a ticket stating the receipt was not clearly visible, when it clearly was. Upon my research (see links below) this is a parking lot that has been reported to be a scam, with many many others receiving the same fraudulent ticket. Even worse, the company - Unified Parking Services that reportedly operates out of ****************************************************************************************************, according to the BBB, does not allow those who have received citations to be able to reasonably dispute, and threaten collections otherwise. What is the city doing about companies who are operating fraudulently as public lots? This seems to be a case of egregious fraud happening to those who are just wanting to enjoy Old Town. This complaint has been filed with the ********************* of ******** Affairs, ***********************************************************************, and the Vice ****** ******* District 6 of ********.

The business issues parking citations even when you pay and display your receipt. There are multiple reviews on yelp that they do this.

On 2/2/24, I parked at a Unified Parking Garage in Old Town ********, **. I did, in fact, pay the $15 parking fee at the garage machine. Part of the payment process was to enter my license plate number (which I did).I often park in garages and, in my experience, any time that I have entered my license number, I have not been required to display my receipt on the dash because the machine maintains the record of the license plate number that has paid. This was my first time in that garage. I actually looked for signage to see if I needed to return to my car to display the ticket. I saw no visible sign to that effect. The only signage I saw instructed visitors to pay at the machine if an attendant was not present.I returned to find a violation notice on my car - the violation fine is $56 for not displaying a receipt on my dash. After receiving a violation notice, I confess that I saw the instruction on the ticket/receipt itself but this was something that I could not easily read in a dark garage.I contend that there was not clear notice that the receipt needed to be on my dash; that Unified Parking had easy access (via their machine) to affirm that I had paid the required fee; and that the violation notice and $56 fine are unreasonable.I wrote a letter disputing this fine on the same day (2/2/24), but have received no response. The ticket threatens turnover to a collection agency and additional fees due if the fine is not paid within 21 days. Again, I think this is a clear intimidation tactic - and would like to be on the record with that.I am attaching a copy of both the violation and my parking receipt to confirm payment - as well as the letter sent on 2/2/24.

This business is issuing parking citations, which is not allowed. According to a **************** ruling, private property owners cannot issue parking citations. Unified Parking has issued me a "parking violation notice" and threatens to send to collections if not paid. My issue is that they have no basis for issuing such a "violation notice" and demand payment. I'm being asked to pay $56.Parking lot: 132 E ********."Violation" number: ******** Date 2/11/24

Unified Parking is illegally writing tickets and taking far away photos as proof. I paid the parking spot, put the receipt on my dash board as it says. They took a picture of my car not showing the dash board. They give you 14 days to send a written letter to contest the $160 ticket. They make it extremely difficult to prove your case on purpose.

I parked in a lot with no parking attendant. I paid via the mobile phone app passport parking which is a big sign showing on the parking entry. included the input of my license plate number. When I came back to my car, there was a parking ticket for $56.00. The ticket is made to look like a city parking ticket, but it is not. There is a threat that if not paid, the ticket will go to a collection agency and more unknown fees would have to be paid. After I received the ticket on my windshield, I walked over to the kiosk where I paid. There are a lot of signs and a small one saying to put a receipt on the dashboard. Being I paid through my mobile phone, I did not receive a receipt. I send over the dispute letter with some pictures showing the payment receipt from my mobile phone, credit card transaction, and parking lot vision. the response from Unified Parking said that I paid to another facility. This is not acceptable to showing a big sign on their parking lot which is not belong with unified parking.

I went to DownTown ** on Saturday April 1, 2023. I parked in a lot that had a pay machine so I purchased my ticket. Places it on my dash board face up. It was bought at 114 and the ticket I received was at 143 pm. I have tried to call the company number but I can't get through and it says leave a message, but you can't because they are full. I tried to email them but the link for the email it not working. There is no way to get ahold of anyone from this company.. I paid ***** to parked, and now I have to 50 for a ticket when I paid and displayed my parking pass right.... I have tried every way possible to get ahold of someone and they is no way

I parked my rental car on the lot at ******************************** on March 13, 2023 and had purchased the pass online via SpotHero. Once the transaction was paid, it was instructed to *********** in a spot that doesn't say "reserved" (which was done) and to come back when I'm ready to leave. I park just after 12:30pm, the allotted time I chose to start, just to come back to the car around 3pm and see I was ticketed within an hour of parking, despite having paid for parking until midnight. As a tourist from ******, I did ensured everything that was correct with regards to parking and car related expanses to avoid a situation such as this one, I think this in incredibly unreasonable to pay for parking ticket for an infraction that never occurred, since the spot was paid for prior to arriving. I would like this rectified

The kiosk did not give me a receipt and there was no one around to complain to. I called the ***** number three times but there was no answer. I proceeded to go to brunch knowing they at least had my license plate number. When I returned, I had wrongly receive a $56 ticket for "Parking Receipt Not Visible" from someone named "******." This is really scammy. Violation #XXXXXXXX License plate # ****** Blue Honda Vin: 6**** am uploading proof of payment on my Amex.
