    If you commission work from this guy, get commitments is writing and don't talk with him without someone with you. Especially if you are a woman.If you leave items to be worked on, be sure he writes down what exactly is to be done, and describe your piece on the envelop.06/04/21 - My attention was caught by a beautiful oval ************** ring with engraving on the sides. I went in and tried it on....to big for my hand.Spoke with the owner, about making a ring similar to it for me using my pear shaped rubalite tourmaline stone. I described wanting the design to wrap around the stone.06/25/21 - left my stone and a $400 deposit. I wore another ring I have with a pear stone to show the orientation of the stone. He said he would have a design to me in a week. Once design was approved it would take about a week to make.I also left a couple rings, a gold watch and a gold chain for sizing and repairs.07/14/21 - 3 1/2 weeks later got a couple pictures on my phone. It was a rather crude design and I could not visualize how the finished ring would look.07/15/21 - He texted me and asked if it was a GO. I said "No we need to talk. I took some clips from the web. I'll send them soon." I send the pics.His response was "When you came into the store you said you liked the sample ring and to make it look something like that so that's what I did but for your stone I spent 4 1/2 hours on that design.now you want?you have to come in store to discuss this again."I called him to discuss the pics I sent. He wouldn't even talk about them. He rudely raised his voice, basically telling me he wasn't going to alter his design track. He said he had two other jobs (one a set of wedding rings) and my delay in design approval was problematic. I needed to come in. I was kind of in shock. Not the way I thought a commissioned job should or would go.07/17/21 - I went to his shop to pick up the pieces I previously left for alteration and to pick up my tourmaline. I decided I could not work with someone who was so rude to me. My sister was with me.When I arrived, he had a jumble of jewelry on the counter. He didn't know what items went to which customer. I picked out my pieces. The chain I left was suppose to have had the jump ring soldered. That is all. Instead it had the clasp changed to a spring ring from a lobster clasp. There was nothing wrong with the clasp that was on there. I pointed that out and he apologized and said he would fix it.We discussed the commission job a little. I asked for my stone back and he promised a new design. He wouldn't talk about the pics I had sent (I wanted to explain more clearly what I had in mind). I asked if he made a wax of the design and that I would like to see it before gold was melted/shaped. He said yes he made them, but would not show it to me as he did not want to make changes to his design. That was not how he worked. (no collaboration?!? my money, my stone?). He said he'd have the new design to me in a week....that he didn't have any other jobs and he could devote time to my project. I decided to give it another chance.He wasn't as rude as when I spoke on the phone with him, but, still not good customer relations. I left with my rings and watch. When I got home and was putting the watch away, I noticed the ******* was cracked. it was not cracked when I brought it in.07/27/21 - received his updated design. I sent a pic showing how I wanted the stone oriented, and said it was a go. (Suppose to take a week or so to get the finished ring.)08/04/21 - sent a text asking for "status please". Response was "Working on the ring"In September we stopped by the store, but sign on the door said Gone Fishing.10/06/21 - Back to the shop - he's just back from vacation, didn't have my chain or ring in the store. He actually said, "Well, you didn't like the design so we should just forget it". He had not worked on it at all...two months after I said OK. I told him the ******* on my watch had gotten cracked while in his custody. He said he would replace it for no charge, that he would send it to his watch guy. I said I had a call in to Movado and would see what they had to say. Given my experience with him, I did not want to entrust my watch to him. 10/07/21 - Came back the next day to pick up my chain and stone. I think he changed the chain clasp to a bigger spring clasp. He stated the original clasp was broken. I pointed out, no, I had a lobster clasp and there was nothing wrong with it. He changed it while I waited. He said "no charge" as he would apply it against my deposit. My husband was waiting in the car. Big mistake on my part, being there with no one else with me. I asked for part of my deposit back and **** got belligerent with me, said he was not going to give me any of my deposit back.I said I was contacting the Better Business Bureau. He said fine, go ahead, I'll tell them about you!10/13/21 - I received a check for half my deposit.
