DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR SOLAR PANELS. It is impossible to get a hold of anybody at the company. I wish I would've seen these complaints before I hired them. In May 2022 I told Sun Energy that my 26 solar panels were not generating power according to my Solar Edge App. They told me everything seemed fine. in April 2022, I had already signed a contract to install 9 more solar panels and upgrade my electrical panel to a bigger box. When they finally came out to look, they realized that my panels were not generating power because the old inverter was 3G and not compatible to the new 5G. I went from May to September 2022 without working panels which equated to approximately $2000 in SCE bills. I just paid over $27,000 for these panels to not work during the whole summer. They said they were not responsible for that. Steve said that I need to contact Solar Edge because it's like buying a lemon car. I would have to go to the manufacturer and not the dealership. When I called Solar Edge, they told me it was Sun Energy that was responsible for that. That was the first problem. The next issue is that it took them until April 2023 to finally finish my new project of more solar panels and a bigger electrical panel. Now that the heat has come in July 2023, the new 40 amp breaker that controls my 26 panels does not stay on. If I reset it during the day, it will trip within minutes. So here I am again with solar panels that don't work during the summer. The only time it stays on is in the evening when the temperatures start to drop. I have called, text & emailed everybody at Sun Energy multiple times over the last 3 weeks and nobody will respond. Most of the phone #'s go directly to voicemail and the voicemail boxes are full. I've contacted Dennis, Calvin, Steve, Tony and the main office. My next recourse is to hire and electrician to resolve the problem and then an attorney.

Worst company to work with. I signed my $80,000 contract with them September 2021 & its now June of 2023 and they are irresponsive. They came to my house last year after an 8 month wait just to tell me they got the wrong panel system and would need to order a new system to match mine. Its been a year and now I just don't get any answers. I have been paying goodleap and Prosper (third party financing agencies) for over a year & a half. Still no solar panels. Do not do business with them. Our sales person was & still is very nice and sweet but they can't do anything about the production, they only do sales. Be aware

I Just want to warn anyone who is planning on geting Solar panels with this company. Not to have any high expectations. I originally sighned a contract with this company in late April of 2022 stating work should be completed in 8 weeks wtih no obstructions. Going forward was a steap hill. First off the contract had to be revised due to issue they were having on there end, with the Banks. Second Issue, they claimed they had issue with thier roofers on there end. I had to stay home 3 different times to let 3 different roofers on site, not to sure what was the issue on thier side. Other than the first Roofer had left the company granted this is all contracted out. So after many tries trying to contact Project Manager not getting any responces for weeks at a time, in regards to all updates. Third issue we had to change contract again in regaurds to the Model/Type of Solar Panels they were going to install, due to inventory. Finally after calling Project Manager and patience a year later we get installed with Panels But not operating. meanwhile the bank starts to bill us for our loan just cause they are installed on the roof and not operating. Sun Energy said they would reinburst the payments yet to see. Four months Later my panels are now working. Total time to install and operate was 1 year.

My experience with Sun Energy was fantastic. Our sales person came out and explained the system and how much energy it would produce. I shopped for a very long time until I felt confident that Sun Energy had the best price. From the time my system was sold to the time it was installed was around 20 days. I was so nervous about getting the system installed before the new law took place but they were on it. I received a call from every department in the company the minute that it was in their hands. I couldn't be happier with my experience. I see a lot of reviews on here from customers that are not thrilled, however they have told me that they have changed management and I can tell you that it has been awesome! Thank you Sun Energy.

This is by far the worst Company I have worked with so far. I signed my Contract with them in December of 2021 and it is not February 2023 and I still am not on solar. I have the panels on the roof, the batteries installed but they keep dragging their feet and making excuses to not finish the work that needs to be done. Apparently the company that they were doing business with for my Loan is asking for a lot of changes to have it up to their standards and SunEnergy doesnt like that because it probably means more time and money from them... So they think it is better to drag their feet, not give me any updates, never call me back and basically ignore me. I basically had 0 updates for the longest time until my wife started calling and got the permitting department on the line. They were responsive, gave us weekly calls and told us what the next steps were, Queue the install team and when it is actually time for them to work towards a solution to get me up and running and radio silence again. This company is a joke. They want fast and easy money and as soon as a project is not fast and easy... they start playing these games. My contract with them expires in a month which is the deadline for them to finish. I doubt they will finish. The wife and I are basically waiting until they breach the contract to show them you don't just change the date on the contract. That would be like me saying " I know I signed a contract saying I would pay you for the next XX year monthly.. But I don't feel like it". This company is not professional at all

I feel that sun energy construction has forgotten about me and my family completely. We are paying on a job that hasn't been finished or resolved. I feel like we are being stolen from. We have been through three project managers, at least three window contractors. Windows still aren't in. Don't have any status on them. Nobody seems to care to reach out with any updates since this has been unresolved for over a year. My friends and parents who we referred, and were not ever given our "referral bonus" for, had their projects completed before us. We don't understand our battery or system, no one has reached out to help. I'm newly disabled and struggling with income...so it stings a little bit more to be taken advantage of like this. Everyday I have to look at my family and own up to the fact that I made a poor choice that has caused us a ton of unnecessary stress. I'll be real, the work that HAS been done - patio and cover, hvac replacement, and solar w/battery - we are happy with...minus the fact that we don't really understand the system and how to control it. Honestly I'm here as a first stop after visiting the BBB home page and being instructed to start here. Wish this had gone differently but as of now - would not recommend. ??

Avoid this company. My experience was much like one of the reviews below. We contracted with Sun Energy for solar on our home at a price of $31k. The sales process was fine, but everything after that has been a disaster. One month after the contract the company came out to install the solar. They completed half, left everything on the roof and we had no clue when they would come back to finish. The worst part, they changed the power box and the wiring which messed up the power to our pool pump. After weeks of pleading with them to have someone come back to fix the wiring because our pool was green, and we couldn't get power to the pump they finally fixed it. Fast forward two months later. They finished the installation, but we have no idea when our project will be finished. There has not been a final inspection or "PV labels" installed. No one returns our calls. So, after more than 3 months, we have a solar bill, the same electricity bill and a system on our roof that doesn't work, and we have no idea when it will be fixed.

We are designing company and we did their jobs for their customers for designing, electrical and structural. Sun Energy does not pay and we tried to put the lien but we are out of time frame because they make us to wait for the payment. But we are going to small quote to get our money but I will advise for people to not to work with these people, we find them they are not honest people.

We have had several discussions with the design company. The design company's accounting department shows that there are multiple invoices outstanding, however our accounting has verified that all invoices have been paid to date with the exception of one. We have requested for the design company to update their accounting records. We are in communication with them to get this issue resolved.

It's been over 7 months already that they haven't pay with us for the services we offered to them. We had several discussions with their Accounting Department but they did not provide us proof of payment. They are lying already and now, we have been calling and sent email but they won't able to cooperate with us. We are going to small quote to collect the money.
