This towing company is operating illegally and unlawfully towed my car on 11/22/2024. This company got shut down by the *** 3 months ago in which the company cannot run business for 5 years: *********************************************************************************************************** I was charged $675 to retrieve my illegally impounded car and was not allowed to touch my car until the amount was paid. **** *******, owner of the company who was charged in the *** investigation is still operating his business after being arrested. This company is already supposed to be shut down for 5 years but the BBB needs to ensure this business does not keep operating and illegally stealing from civilians.Initial Complaint

Guest car was towed by specialty towing. Specialty Towing and Recovery Inc. 1) violated my privacy by singly surveilling my vehicle in an empty lot late at night, to 2) illegally possess my car while failing to provide proof of authorization and corresponding police notice of towing prior to threatening me to pay by holding my car hostage. My car was towed away from ********* (*********) parking lot on July 28th. I was in a rush and I wasn't aware that there was a 30 minute time limit on the parking. On discovering that my car was missing, I was told by ********* staff that SPECIALTY TOWING AND RECOVERY had towed the car. It cost me $532 to release the vehicle and the experience felt like an extortion. I believe that I have been excessively charged. Per my understanding the tower is entitled to no more than one-half his normal towing fee. Local law enforcement ***************** in *******************) has published towing and vehicle release fee for the county and I should have been charged a reasonable Release Fee.I also feel ********* is jointly responsible because they have allowed / contracted a towing company without establishing a release fee structure formally. I called ********* to find out who established the vehicle release fee and they have officially said, they DO NOT DECIDE on what fee should get charged for release of vehicle. I tried to resolve the problem with ********* but they were not willing to provide any explanation on why I was charged so much and neither was SPECIALTY TOWING AND RECOVERY interested. SPECIALTY TOWING AND RECOVERY even told me if I don't recover my car by paying the said amount, they will charge me more if I recover the car the next day.Initial Complaint

They towed my car while it was parked in front of my ****** apartment manager confirmed they should not and must not tow my car and park splitspot was ok.They tow my car, and damaged cars brake and transmission. 2/3/23 we parked in a parking lot that works coincide ********** for a church meeting at 7pm. We came out at 9pm to see our cars towed. We called and the dispatch was extremely rude and told us oh well. Okay. So we go to the tow yard and they said they towed the cars, put them in the yard and left. No one was able to help us out. After getting ahold of the owner *****, he said he apologize for the inconvenience and the attitude of the dispatch and if we came back the next day at 11 he would lower fees to $300 per car. ( we were told $520/car originally, even for the 2 hours) We showed up, and they said they never said any of that. There has to he something not right in this matter.Initial Complaint

My mother and I walked in to pick up my fathers work truck. As soon as we walked in the building, these women had major attitude with us. There was a lady off to the right was defensive in her accusations. She said its a truck they do not have spare tires when it was right there under the bed of the vehicle. On top of that they just assumed that my mom knew how to go about the situation when in reality we have never dealt with something like this before, so we were asking questions and they were super snarky along with cussing out my mom and telling her it's her effing problem. These women were so unprofessional amongst just being plain rude. My mom was so traumatized by the incident that she was shaking and flustered then after we paid it and sign the release form, the woman that caused the majority of the ruckus told my mom she was going to park it on the red curb. My mom then said well isn't that illegal and she told my mom that was her effing problem and she doesn't care.Initial Complaint

I went shopping at ************, ********** target plaza and I parked my car in the back of Oreilly ,the raw facing the **************. There is no sign said no/restricted parking on that row. And there is no sign on the target side main entrance and no sign all the way to the place I park too. After about ***** min I saw the driver of towing truck was trying to load my car. I tried communicate with him and I was trying to get some information about who authorized the towing and who I could talk to. He just said this company contracted with Oreilly, and I dont need to talk to anyone instead I only have two options1) paying $150 drop off fee 2) paying more in the garage. I feel threatened at that moment and want to get everything clear. I put my stuff including my pet bird in the car and sit on the back bumper and trying to get my concerns solved. Then he said he called the police. I thought that great. He agreed with waiting for the police but he needs to charge me extra for we were waiting. I agreed. At that time he is still loading my car. I can tell he was rush to go. Then I called my lawyer friend to get some advice. Suddenly he just ran without noticing me. I was chasing after the car to ask him to stop. But he just ran away with my pet bird and personal belongs inside the car. It ended up to pay $397.5 to get my car back. The ********** vehicle code requires sign on ALL the entrance. But manager was very arrogant and said its all our fault even with no sign on the entrance. First of all I feel I was illegal towed. Secondly I believe I was forced to pay the extra to get my car back.
