My name is ***************************, I am 25 years old, and I am a single mother. enrolling in this program, I received the necessary assistance to accomplish so.Regrettably, approximately two weeks after my child's birth, the father was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 colon and lung cancer, with a prognosis of five years remaining.Since he was the one responsible for collecting and transporting my son from school, I now had to assume that responsibility. The school my sons attend begins at 9 am every morning, and I do not have any alternative childcare options available. As a result, I am consistently 90 minutes late for class. I consistently missed lectures and felt behind, despite maintaining a solid GPA while on honor roll. When I asked to move to night classes, my teacher discouraged me, saying that we could figure things out. (very appreciated) However, despite the fact that I showed up to every make-up appointment and completed all of my work, she talked down to me in front of others, making me unhappy... I told her about my problems and requested for a break from ****************, but she also said no. Today, I was dropped from the program. I want to go to school and get an education.Just can't make it in the mornings. I am requesting a brief leave of absence to assist my kid and father in overcoming the emotions that I am experiencing as a result of his father's disease. want to be shifted to night classes so that I just have to attend class once. I maintained regular communication with my teacher, consistently maintained high academic performance, and diligently completed all necessary makeup assignments. the individual was aware of my circumstances, as I consistently requested a transfer to evening classes due to the morning schedule becoming impossible for me. They assured me that they would accommodate my needs. I requested a break (as suggested from classmate) , but received no response other than being expelled from the program.Business Response

Dear ****************,Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond to complaint #********, submitted by ******************************* to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) serving ******************* **************** began the Medical Billing and Insurance Coding (MBIC) program at UEI College- Gardena (UEI) on February 27, 2024 and was withdrawn from the program on June 20, 2024 due to violation of the schools attendance policy.
**************** Violated the Schools Attendance Policy
**************** states, when I asked to move to night classes, my teacher discouraged me, saying that we could figure things out. On June 19, 2024, a text was sent by Ms. **************************** the Associate Director of Student Affairs (****) as **************** was close to violating the schools attendance policy, which would result in being dropped from the program. **************** asked if she could take a break from school. **************** requested that **************** come into the school to meet and discuss her options. However, **************** did not meet with the **** as requested and was subsequently dropped from the program when she violated the attendance policy.
Students cannot Change their Schedule Until the End of a Module
While **************** requested to have her schedule changed, she requested the change during a module (course). ********** advises students to complete a module before moving to a different class time. If a student changes their schedule during a module, they will not successfully complete the module and will have to repeat it. For this reason, **************** was encouraged to complete MB2011-160 Insurance Practices which would have ended on June 24, 2024. However, *************** did not complete the module and she had ceased lab attendance since June 5, 2024 which resulted in being dropped from the program.
The School Encourages *************** to Return to Complete her Program
**************** requests permission to attend night classes. **************** is welcome to return to the school to reenter and complete the program. **************** is encouraged to contact *************** to schedule a time to meet and discuss an evening schedule that will work for her availability.
At this time, the school has provided a detailed response to the complaint. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address the challenges I have encountered in maintaining punctuality for the morning classes, which have been largely influenced by unforeseen personal circumstances. As you may be aware, I have been committed to my education and have made prior arrangements to ensure my attendance. Regrettably, a critical situation has arisen that has disrupted these plans. My childrens father has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments every other week. The severity of his condition has rendered him unable to assist with our childrens morning routine, directly impacting my ability to arrive at class on time. The gravity of this illness cannot be overstated, as chemotherapy sessions are intensive and debilitating. This has placed an unexpected burden on my schedule, one which I am striving to manage with the utmost responsibility.I am reaching out to request your understanding and to discuss potential accommodations that could be made under these trying circumstances. My dedication to my studies remains unwavering, and I am eager to explore solutions that would allow me to fulfill my academic obligations without compromising the well-being of my family.I appreciate your consideration of this matter and am open to any suggestions you may have. Your support in this difficult time would be invaluable.Thank you for your attention to this urgent issue. I look forward to your response and am hopeful for a positive resolution.Business Response

Dear ****************,
Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond to complaint #********, submitted by Ms. ********************* to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) serving ******************* ******************** began the Medical Assistant (MA) program at UEI College- Mesa (UEI) on November 23, 2021 and graduated from the program on August 16, 2022.******************** has a Remaining Balance on her Student Account.
In her complaint, ******************** states that she is unable to obtain a copy of her diploma due to having a balance on her student account. During enrollment, ******************** read and signed her Enrollment Agreement and received a copy of the School Catalog. Both the Enrollment Agreement and the School Catalog clearly states that students will not receive a copy of their Diploma or Transcript if they have not satisfied their financial obligations with the school.
At the time of her enrollment, the cost of ******************** tuition was $19,900. ******************** received $9,402 in federal student aid, plus a Pell ***** of $6,495. To address the remaining amount not covered by federal loans and grants, ******************** agreed to an installment payment plan with the school in the amount of $3,253. ******************** payment plan had both in-school and post-graduate monthly payments. However, ******************** still has a remaining balance of $3,102. ******************** has not responded to the schools attempts to reach her since August 16, 2022. ******************** still has a responsibility to submit repayment for the remaining amount before she is eligible to receive a copy of her diploma.
Externships are Part of the Program Requirement and are Not Paid Positions
******************** states that she completed her externship but was not paid for the experience. The MA program is comprised of the didactic portion which is conducted through a hybrid modality (online lectures and on-campus labs) and the externship. Students are assigned to complete 250 externship hours where they utilize their skills learned in the program. Externships are part of the requirement for graduation and are not paid positions.
Students Must Meet the Entrance Requirements
******************** states that she had convicted felons in the class. The decision to enroll in higher education is a personal one, as is the choice of pursuing a vocational education through a career training program versus a community college. Regarding this students classmates, *** believes everyone has a right to pursue an education, regardless of their socio-economic background and previous life challenges. *** believes in providing students with a second chance in life. Regardless, all students must successfully meet the general admission requirements to proceed with enrollment, then must continue to meet the program standards in order to remain in and complete their program.
The School Respectfully Declines the Students Refund Request
******************** requests that she receive a refund of tuition. When ******************* enrolled into the MA program, she agreed to the financial arrangements with her lenders, participated in her educational program and graduated. ********** has provided the program that ******************* attended; and successfully graduated, therefore we respectfully decline ******************** request for a refund.
At this time, the school has provided a response to the complaint and would encourage ******************** to work with the school to address her remaining student account balance.

I attended ************* campus back in the day. I went for pharmacy tech, and I got all my books attended class but it was like we were teaching ourselves. A teacher would come in and say do this but would not teach us or show us and he would leave. He would sometimes come back into class right before it was time to leave. So we would do book work, but not really understand what we were doing. The labs were worse as he would tell us to open our books to the example and follow them. He would not teach at all. Every assignment was an A or B but one time I tested to see if he was actually grading our stuff and just wrote numbers down and gibberish and I still got a B. I left the school after 2 semesters but still got charged the full amount and am still paying back the student loan to pay for the school.Business Response

Dear ****************-Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond to complaint #********, submitted by ***************** to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). A thorough search of our records did not reveal a student file that matches ******************** information provided in the complaint. Although ****************** states that she attended UEI College- ********* (UEI) in the Pharmacy Technician (PT) program and only attended for two semesters, we do not have a student file that contains this information in our current system. While ****************** contends that she attended back in the day she did not provide her dates of enrollment which would assist us in additional attempts to locate her file.
****************** has not Responded to Contact Attempts
Upon receipt of ******************** complaint and after reviewing the information provided in the complaint, it was noted that ******************** current residence is in ********, whereas the School that she states she attended is in **********. To locate ******************** student file, an email was sent to her on December 19, 2023 to request additional information, but she did not respond. A second contact attempt was made by phone on December 20, 2023, however ***************** did not respond to the request for her address at the time of her enrollment and the date of enrollment. As we have not received any additional information to locate ******************** file, we are unable to respond with specifics but will provide a general response to her claims.
****************** is Responsible for Repayment of Tuition for the Enrollment Period
****************** claims that she left the school after two semesters but still got charged the full amount. It should be noted that the PT program is not scheduled by semesters but instead is provided by modules. A module (or class) is comprised of 20 days. If ***************** attended only two modules as she claims, she would not have been charged the full program amount. Instead, ****************** would only be responsible for repayment of tuition for the two modules that she attended. As we are unable to view ******************** student account ledger, we are unable to confirm the amount that ****************** is responsible for.
****************** did not File a Complaint with the School
At the time of enrollment, students are provided with a copy of the school catalog, which clearly outlines the process for submitting a complaint to the school. Students are encouraged to contact either their Executive Director/Campus President or the Director of Education to discuss their concerns. Additionally, the school catalog provides the schools Student Hotline information which the student can use to contact to file a complaint. A search of our complaint files confirmed that ****************** did not file a complaint with the Student Hotline from 2011 through present. Had ****************** contacted the school during enrollment to voice her concerns, the school would have been provided the opportunity to address her claims and obtain a resolve for ******************* However, as ****************** did not state any concerns at the time of her enrollment and it is possible that ****************** has waited several years to file this complaint, we are unable to resolve her claims at this late date.
The School Respectfully Declines ******************* Refund Request
In order to enroll into the program,****************** would have read and signed an enrollment agreement, which provided the total amount of tuition and fees for the PT program. ****************** would have been required to pay for the program by utilizing student loans and/or a payment installment plan if she was unable to pay cash for her tuition. As ****************** states that she is still paying back the student ****** appears that she may have applied for federal student aid and possibly a payment installment plan if her federal student aid did not cover her full tuition. Regardless, ****************** would have read and signed her loan application and/or payment installment plan, both of which clearly stated the borrowers responsibility for repayment and the terms of repayment. We respectfully decline ******************** request for a refund.
At this time, we have provided a response to ******************** concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,

I went to this school and had perfect grades. Teachers would spend lab hours talking about their personal life instead of teaching us important information. There would be other teachers that came in and would be verbally abusive to us and discriminatory saying we looked like s*** and that she would never hire us. They treated us like we had no other choice in a profession and treated us like we were stupid. I passed all my tests and completed all my extern and payed all my dues. Was told I would be getting my diplomas and certificates. Thats when the school stopped replying to me and always gave the excuse that I missed the graduation. I was told I was an ambassador and thats how they treated me. *** contacted the school for over a year and went in and its always some story like *********************** is not in today, or you have to contact your teacher for your certificates, teacher told me I had to get them thru ***** and ***** only replied up until it was time to schedule a day for me to come get them. This school is crazy and I regret everything. I paid money and have no proof of anything. One of the certificates expired already and I had never received it.Business Response

I had multiple problems with ***, i never got my osha as promised because they had issues with their website. That caused me to not get my osha from the college at all and i had to pay for it independently even though it was promised. We had a drug addict teacher who would always be an hour and a half late for class and when he did get there he would volunteer me to teach the class because i was the most advanced. Mind you i was a student. Not only that but i recived texts from the office ladies that were very rude even though i just asked questions? i have been going through so much with this school and its not good. I attended in march of 2022. About 3 months later my instructor gets laid off and im told i cant come back to my program for 2 months. In October of 2022 i do all my paperwork, my application, live scan, the picture, all the required stuff in about my 5 MOD (month). I turned it in and completed it early because my sister in law also attended this school and also Pharmacy Technician program and her paperwork kept getting lost. January of **************************************************************************************************************************************** a file cabinet along with other students. So im told i have to redo everything as well as self query which the school didn't want to pay for it. I thought that wasn't right on your their part. Then i get a email from the *********** around May 2023 telling me the application i sent in was the wrong version. I was handed an application that was 5 versions old by someone at that school. I redo the application & the correct version in May. Finally after months state responded to me and this was only about 2 weeks ago. They tell me i still need the correct version of the application and to fix page 3 but i did this back in May 2022. On 8/19/23 i check my mailbox and i have a letter from the state board telling me my fingerprints and SSN are incorrect, I need to send in a copy of my driver's license. I had someone make a copy of it for me on campus. How can this be incorrect? Ive been so angry about this whole situation. I cant work because i don't have my technician license.I have forgot half the stuff i learned in my program. I feel like this was all a waste of my time and the $10,000 i am paying.Everytime i call there is always someone new working in what i need help with so stuff is always getting lost and the staff doesn't know what to do when im asking them questions. No one has helped me at this campus.Business Response

Dear ****************-Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond to complaint #********, submitted by ********************************* to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). ******************** enrolled into the ******** Technician (PT) program at UEI College- ********* ** (***) on March 28, 2022. ******************** was on Leave of Absence (LOA) as of June 23, 2022 and returned on July 27, 2022. ******************** graduated from the program on January 16, 2023.
******** Technician Licensure Process
After the student has successfully completed 240 hours of class instruction, the student can begin the PT Licensure process. To start the process, the student must have a sealed official high school completion transcript, a passport photo, live scan fingerprints, a completed board application and a signed self-query. Typically, the **************** ***** of ******** Licensing (the *****) process takes six to twelve weeks after submission.
The PT program is comprised of eight modules (courses) and a 120-hour externship in the field. During the first three modules, the student meets with the PT licensing specialist and is provided with a *** licensing packet and licensing to-do list. By the fourth module, the student must obtain a sealed high school transcript. The student is to bring their sealed transcript to the PT licensing specialist at the School.
By the sixth module, the student is provided with a Live Scan Application and a voucher. The student completes the application and brings the completed live scan to the PT licensing specialist. The student is also advised to bring their ********** of ***** Vehicles driving record if they have any outstanding tickets. If the student has past criminal charges, they will need to provide certified copies of court documents demonstrating that the student has fulfilled their court obligations. The student must also schedule an appointment with the Schools PT licensing specialist to have their passport photo taken. The student must also complete the Self-Query document and provide it to the Schools PT licensing specialist. However, the student should be aware that the Self-Query is only good for two months from the date of completion. Once the student has provided all of the documents to the Schools PT licensing specialist, the students document and application will be mailed to the Schools corporate office for submission and payment of the licensing fees.
Ms. ********* Documents and Application were Submitted in January 2023
******************** claims that the School did not send her application and documents to the ***** in January 2023. This statement is inaccurate, as the Schools records confirm that Ms. ********* application and documents were submitted in January 2023.
The **************** ***** of ******** Licensing Updated the Application Without Notice
In May 2023, the School was made aware that all applicants were required to provide an updated pharmacy application. ********** had not been notified by the ***** that there was a new version of the application. ******************** completed the new application as requested, and it was mailed to the ***** for processing on May 4, 2023.

The ***** Process is Typically Between Six to Twelve Weeks Before Completion
In her complaint, ******************** claims that after months [the] state responded to me. This is accurate, as the ***** licensure process can take up to twelve weeks after submission. Therefore, a student may wait several months before receiving a deficiency notice from the ***** regarding any missing or incorrect documents.
Fingerprints/Live Scan Application is Completed by the Student with a Third-Party Vendor
******************** claims that she was required by the ***** to redo her fingerprints/Live Scan as my fingerprints and SSN are incorrect. Students are required to complete their fingerprints/Live Scan application and obtain fingerprints/Live Scan through a 3rd party vendor. As such, this is not under the Schools control. Once the School submits the licensure application and fees to the *****, the ***** communicates only with the student. ********** Services team reached out to ******************** on August 22, 2023 and requested that she meet with the School on August 23, 2023 to discuss her licensure concerns. During the phone conversation with ******************* on August 22, 2023, she confirmed that she had completed her Live Scan application but did not review the application for accuracy before submitting it to the School. ******************** confirmed that the social security number was incorrect due to her error. As part of the discussion with the student,******************** confirmed that she was satisfied with the level of job search assistance provided to her by the ****** Services team.
********** Services Team has worked with ******************** on Several Occasions
******************** states no one has helped me at this campus. ********** Services Team has provided assistance to ******************** on multiple occasions, assisting her with the licensing application, self-query and resubmitting her corrected application to the *****. ****** Services Specialist ************************************* has been in communication with ******************** several times regarding job leads and providing job search assistance. ************************************* has been assisting ******************** to search for a pharmacy clerk position until her license was completed and approved. I graduated from UEI in the year 2000 as a Medical Assistant. A couple years ago I lost my Diploma. On December of 2021 (order# 15245), I submitted a request for a copy of the diploma or transcript. I paid $30; it is now May 2023 and I still have not received it. I sent them a follow up email in January and still have not heard back from anyone. I have submitted a request and paid a total of $60. Unfortunately, I don't remember and I can't find the receipt for the second request. I've reached out to corporate numerous times but only get a voicemail greeting which directs people back to their website. No live person to talk to. No help at all! I really need a copy asap and a refundBusiness Response

I and a handful of students have been having issues with UEIs SOAR online portal marking our assignments late, therefore marking us absent. Aside from the issues with the online portal, a concise response to the deadline of assignment due date is unclear. Admissions will say one thing and the teachers will say another. I have tried multiple times to have this addressed directly with the teacher, they tell me to talk to the main instructor, main instructor will tell me to talk to the admissions department. I'm beyond frustrated with the go-round and no one taking accountability. I have called the office and was given a number to call, I tried and I received no help. I was able to walk into the office and was told a ticket would be submitted to review this issue, I was also given a business card from the director of admissions with her email and phone and have reached out and not heard back. I have now been marked absent 23 hours and should only be responsible for 10. Our teacher has told us we could turn in assignments by Saturday, but then they will switch up and say Friday, whereas admissions will say differently. I feel regardless of what is said, admissions will just stick to their technical terms and will not do anything in regard to their misinformation from their instructors and what they are telling us. I need this issue resolved, otherwise, I will consider organizing with the student body and seeking out legal counsel and get help outside of the help I'm getting on campus. I'm asking that admission a take accountability for the incorrect information their instructors are telling us and rectify the discrepancies.Business Response

Dear Ms. *******-Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond to complaint #********, submitted by Mr. ***** ***** to the Better Business Bureau serving Central California and Inland Empire Counties (“BBB”). Mr. ***** enrolled into the Electrical Technician (“ET”) program at UEI College- Reseda, CA (“UEI”) on February 25, 2023 and is currently still participating in the program.
The Student’s Attendance Concerns were Thoroughly Addressed
In his complaint, Mr. ***** claimed that the online student portal known as SOAR (Student Online Academic Room”) was “marking our assignments late, therefore marking us absent.” The School’s Vice President of Student Finance and Records Management, Ms. ***** ******* conducted an audit on Mr. *****’ attendance in SOAR and it was determined that he had not submitted his attendance-granting assignments according to the module schedule, causing some online attendance absences. After the audit was completed the School’s Senior Campus President, Ms. ****** ******* spoke with Mr. ***** on May 5, 2023 to advise him of the findings. Mr. ***** was advised regarding the reason for his online absences, making him aware that the absences occurred due to his late completion of assignments. Mr. ***** was also advised that Mr. ******** *******, the Associate Director of Education, would be on campus on May 6, 2023 to review Mr. *****’ attendance in detail, clarify which assignments grant attendance and assist him in creating a schedule that will allow him to complete his assignments in a more timely manner. At the end of the conversation, Mr. ***** indicated that he was happy with the solution and thanked Ms. ******* for her time and assistance.
To further prevent any miscommunication with Mr. *****, he was provided with contact information for the Education department and the Senior Campus President. Mr. ***** was advised to closely track his attendance daily, to post online assignments within the deadline and communicate any discrepancies immediately. The School did not Report a Lack of Repayment to the Credit Reporting Bureaus
Mr. ***** has requested that the School provide a “correction to a credit report.” The School has not reported an unpaid balance for Mr. ***** to the credit reporting bureaus. Mr. *****’ student account is currently with the School and not with a third-party collection agency, and no negative reports have been submitted on his behalf. The School suggests that Mr. ***** contact the Federal Student Aid Center at (800) 433-3243 to obtain further information regarding his federal student aid loan servicer to determine his repayment status.
At this time, we have provided a detailed response to provide context to Mr. *****’ concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.Sincerely,
