Solar *** comes out to sell a new customer a new system and then when a repair is needed there is no customer service. You are told to wait; they will look into the issue. There is a 25-year warranty on their panels. The panels started to fail within a couple years. Solar *** should be paying my electric bill if they can't fix my panels. Stay away from Solar ***.SolarMax Renewable Energy Provider, Inc.

Dear ***,Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your solar panel system. At *********, we strive to provide excellent customer service and support, and we understand how frustrating it can be when a repair is needed.Regarding your situation, its important to note that the warranty on the panels is provided by the manufacturer. While we work closely with them to resolve issues, the process can sometimes take longer than expected. We are actively communicating with the manufacturer to expedite the replacement of your failing panels. On 6/3/2024, we spoke to the manufacturer, and they advised us that they are currently behind on their warranty processing. However, we have requested a follow-up from them and will continue to keep you in the loop with any updates. As soon as the manufacturer provides the necessary replacements, we will prioritize your installation to ensure your system is back to optimal performance as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any further concerns or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team directly at *********************************************** We are here to assist you and ensure your satisfaction with our service.Review fromDaniel B

1 starSTAY AWAY!!! I had my solar panels installed with Solarmax in 2014. Their customer service used to be very good and professional. I have been unable to reach the anyone at the company since 2020 that I thought they closed down. After reaching out by text to a tech that had come to my house once, he told me they are still in business. I tried several more times in the last 1.5 months and left 4 messages but nobody answers or returns calls. My monitor needs to be setup again so I cannot see the power generation. I have a $3000 electricity bill with SCE because my panels have not been generating for the last several months. Panels have been cleaned and still generate almost nothing. Use another company. You will be much happier for doing so.Review fromLG L

I signed with this company March of 2022 to have solar installed, and to also have a backup battery installed. It seems like I should have been warned about a few things at that time. 1) It’s Jan 18, 2023 and I still don’t have solar; 2) I would have to redo all of my loan paperwork because it was only good for six months; and 3) they would not consult me regarding install dates (I have to be present for one of them), and then when I said a date would not work because of my job, the salesman I worked with tried to pressure me into accommodating their schedule. I’m not sure what jobs other people have with whom they work, who can tell their employers what their work schedule is going to be - I only know that doesn’t go over well at my job. Wouldn’t it have been simpler to just email or text me and ASK what dates might work so that their schedule is accommodated, but also mine? It’s truly some of the worst customer service practices I have ever experienced. I have no idea how good or not the actual solar may or may not be because I still don’t have solar. Maybe it is great, I surely hope so after waiting this long. I do know how weak their business practices are though after dealing with them for ten months. I actually like the salesman I worked with, but I don’t like the company’s business practices nor its weak customer service policies. The salesman would probably be surprised to hear that I like him, but I do wish he had not tried to strong-arm me into the dates that work for THEM, or blame our local fire dept on the long battery wait. It was the battery production, not the fire dept being difficult. Maybe they’re not used to dealing with people with doctorates, I don’t know, but just because I’m a girl doesn’t mean I am going to 1) be bullied or 2) believe everything you tell me because you are male. The company should really be more upfront about how the process goes. I hope they at least live up to the solar production that we discussed. If not, I’ll be back.SolarMax Renewable Energy Provider, Inc.

Good Day Ms. ********, I see you have been scheduled for 1/26 and 1/27. Hopefully those were days that worked for you! We appreciate your business and look forward to you benefiting from your Solar & Battery. Great thing is, we have a 10 year production guaranty. Therefore, we are guaranteeing that your system will live up to the solar production contracted with your layout. We apologize for any delays and we appreciate your patience. Please have a great day!Review fromChris S.

After the sale of the solar system, SolarMax does a very poor job with warranty service. My power inverter, which is covered under warranty, has not been working for 3 months. They do not return phone calls or emails. SolarMax claims to have ordered the power inverter 2 months ago, but still has not been installed. My electricity bill is so high (summertime), on top of the payment I have to make for the Solar.SolarMax Renewable Energy Provider, Inc.

While we regret the circumstances that resulted in our customer’s complaint, the issue has been on the manufacturer side and not related to our warranty service. To summarize the events so far: 1. Our customer contacted us on 5/31/2022 regarding their solar energy system not producing. The contacted the manufacturer who had our customer power cycle their system. That did not resolve the problem, so the manufacturer updated the firmware but the system still did not work. We made an appointment to have our technicians onsite on 6/6/2022. 2. On 6/6/2022, our technicians needed to contact the manufacturer regarding this system issue. After 2 hours and 40 minutes working with the manufacturer, they determined that a special fuse needed to be replaced. The manufacturer would not replace the fuse under warranty, and the fuse is not readily available, so we needed to locate a supplier for this fuse and return at a later date. 3. On 6/14/2022 we returned to replace the fuse that the manufacturer requested we replace. After installing the fuse, the inverter still would not work. After spending almost one hour working with the manufacturer, the manufacturer finally determined that the inverter needed to be replaced. 4. The replacement inverter was shipped on 7/14/2022, and we now received the inverter and are contacting our customer to schedule the replacement. While we understand our customer’s frustration with the manufacturer warranty process, we must follow the recommendations of the manufacturer in order for our customer to receive replacement services under that warranty. The problems were equipment related and not due to our installation services. Still, we are sorry for any inconvenience our customer experienced due to this warranty issue. It should be noted that our customer is protected by our Production Guaranty that provides for reimbursement of annual production shortages.Chris S.

Thank you for your response. One of my biggest concerns is the lack of communication from SolarMax. I had to seek and call numerous times to set up the appointments that were completed. Even though I told SolarMax the inverter was bad from the beginning, their process of troubleshooting other things has prolonged the repair process. I have asked for emails or phone calls to update me on the process as we moved along. I have been told that I would be emailed (at least five times) with how much my production guarantee covers. I haven’t received anything. I was also told that once the inverter was shipped that I would be contacted and given a tracking number and have an appointment scheduled. That has not happened, even though SolarMax says that the inverter was already shipped and received by them. I understand that there is a delay on the manufacturer’s end, but the lack of communication has been terrible as I wait and pay a lot of money during the time of year that I need my solar most.
