I was mislead about this $1000 deposit. Me and my realtor were given false, inaccurate and misleading information by Old Republic title company. This is unfair how our money has been tied up for several months and now i must give them half in order to get some of my "deposit" back. I don't know what can be done? I sold an old (****) house with a realtor. I was lead to believe these buyers had their own repairman, and he'd repair 1 *** burner pilot light or we would settle for $200 towards helping them fix the 1 burner pilot light, in 30 days, not 6 months after its been used and rented out. the buyers rented out my old house just days after i left; so the old stove, which worked fine, that Im sure has been used this whole time (or already replaced); Not my concern, 6 months later. I was NOT represented and NOT protect, at all, by Old Republic Title Co. Its very unfair how that whole deposit scam, takes advantage of solo parents like me. I was given false information on the release of my money. We busted our backs getting the property clean and ready to hand over, for what? To give them another $500, 6 months later. its been rented out this whole time. I call bologna!! how can these guys be allowed to do this, to an autistic family, during Autism Awareness month, no less? If my husband where alive, hed never have let us get coerced into that awful deposit-scam in the first place. I was taken advantage of, given false information and coerced into giving an unfair and high amount cash deposit. the deposit was to ensure i took all my stuff and the scrap wood pile; which we did. I never agreed to give more than $200 towards fixing the one pilot light on one burner on the old stove. its not in the contract. anyway, now i must release my deposit so I can get just HALF of my money back before its sent to some arbitration. our money has already been tied up for too long.please, what can be done to protect families like mine?
