  So, my doctor used this laboratory for a blood test. It was not my choice. My insurance (which is very good) declined to pay for the services as this is "investigatory" in nature. I never signed any agreement or consent saying I would be financially responsible for this information. I tried calling on 11/12 on 2 different occasions for a total of 49 minutes and never got through. I left a message and no one returned my call. I also tried calling on 12/18/21 and no one has returned my call. This business is Prometheus Laboratories out of *********, ** and they have had over 20+ complaints on the same matter.

  Prometheus laboratories charged my wife over $900 for a simple blood test to help rule out celiac disease. First and foremost, this is an outrageous charge for a laboratory test. Secondly, the Prometheus waited to send this **** to us about 6 months after the lab was drawn. We filed an appeal with our insurance company and they noted that the lab had waited until 1 week prior to when the appeal period would have expired. Therefore, I believe they purposely wait to send this **** until the last moment so their customers do not have time to appeal. Prometheus then immediately sent this claim to a debt collector, from which we received notice that our **** was now in their hands and could begin to negatively affect our credit score if not paid in a timely manner. At this point, we contacted the debt collecting agency. The customer service agent we spoke with at the debt collecting agency was very familiar with Prometheus laboratories and states she frequently receives these calls from upset people with similar complaints. Unfortunately, she noted that most people miss out on the appeal period due to how late Prometheus sends this **** to the patients. She stated that they then file a written complaint to Prometheus laboratories and the lab **** is usually reduced from $900 to around $300. During this entire process, we have attempted to contact Prometheus labs approximately 50 times via phone and not once has anyone answered the phone at the above listed number. The debt collecting agency also noted they never answer their phone calls either. This laboratory is running a scam business that is stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from patients and potentially adversely affecting people's credit scores unfairly.
