Only seconds after handing over the leash, and after the vet tech slipped a choke leash around my dog, the employee allowed my dog to get out of both leashes. He then proceeded to blame me, despite me being completely around the corner. He proceeded to tell me how I needed to adjust the collar - yet my dog has never once gotten out of her collar in my care. Next, due to his terrible handling of my dog, she was nervous and tried to get away at the moment of her getting a shot. He then told me my dog has aggression problems and that she'll need to be muzzled next time. This guy clearly doesn't know how to handle dogs and needs customer service skills and dog training. Each time we have gone back, the techs do a worse job and are making it so my dog is a nervous wreck - they say it's for liability reasons - well, how about you let owners handle their own dogs and erase all the liability? What is with the new policy where owners are not involved with helping at the doctor? It makes absolutely no sense and is completely asinine.I've had dogs and cats my entire life and have never raised an aggressive dog, nor have I ever had a single issue taking them to the vets. VETCO is cheap, but it will instill fear in your pets.

Groomers are rude, mishandle Pets and keep them for extended amounts of hours. Dirty conditions & extremely unprofessional. Keep your pets away. Especially the male employee, not only unqualified but had a nasty attitue. Never again will I shop at petco.

I can't even begin to list every single time we've been sold expired cat food or found expired food on the shelves. When we discover the problem and bring it to the staffs attention, they will typically reply with "Ok we'll take a look" and then proceed to continue what they originally were doing, regardless of how busy the store may or may not be. This issue is not isolated to this store. My wife and I have had the same experience at multiple locations throughout **********, **************, **************, and *******. This is a complete lack of accountability on a corporate level. The fact that this company hasn't had any legal filings against them at this point is baffling.

On January 18, 2025, I took my pet to the PETCO on FM1960 near ********** for a bath, a trim around his jawline, and a facial cleaning. What should have been a routine grooming session turned into an absolute nightmare. When my daughter went to pick him up, she FaceTimed me, and I was shockedmy pet was completely unrecognizable. The groomer had shaved off all his hair, leaving his ears bare and looking as if they had been skinned. This was NOT what I requested, and to add insult to injury, the staff was rude, dismissive, and outright lied, claiming this was what I had asked for.I paid $100 for this botched grooming job, and instead of rectifying the situation, they told me to come back the next day to speak with the managerwho might not even refund my money. This level of incompetence and disregard for both pets and customers is unacceptable. If you care about your pet and your peace of mind, stay FAR away from this place!

They are crooks and mislead the public. I paid 300 for a package I didnt know expired in 120 days. This was for my dogs vaccinations and microchip. The shots were supposed to be done over 3 visits but my dog was too young and small to withstand a lot at once. We were basically only able to get one shot per visit with maybe some ********. Im on dialysis and was very ill. My family had car problems and couldnt help me. I came back when I was doing a little bit better and was denied service. I was told I would have to pay for the shots all over again because the package had expired. I talked to Corporate and they told me theres nothing they can do. Even given the circumstances smh.

    1) PetCo will not accept my PetCo gift card for making an online order from the physical store (they were out of the food I needed in the store). If I have an order order in the store my shipping surcharge is waived (this order it would have been over $15.00 extra on my $60.00 order). The is NO disclaimer on the gift card rules and regulations about some stores not accepting gift cards or only under certain circumstances.2) I have to jump through hoops to get the online price when the website is NOT working. I have to do a screen capture (making sure the time and date are there) take the image into Photoshop, size and print out, then take to the store.3) There are only 2 items in the store that my senior cats use. One is the special Weruva low phos/sod food and the other World's Best Cat Litter. Both of the items are consistently out of stock so I can not order online for store pick-up. 4) Online and brick and mortar store's inventories are not connected or accurate! When it shows the item is out of stock online, I can go to the store and there is a whole bunch in stock, but if I buy it in the store I do not get the online price. The employees at PetCo point their fingers like online and store are different companies.5) I spent 10 weeks & 5 orders to try and order a cat tower. Each time the order online said it was in stock. After 10 days of waiting for each order, I would receive an email saying the order was cancelled. The vendor "New Cat Condos" who ships for PetCo had plenty at their warehouse each time. Due to glitches in PetCo's non-functioning system it would auto cancel. PetCo continues to sell items online that are knowingly out of stock or back ordered.PetCo doesn't care about fixing anything. Last year I wrote *** ************ SVP, Merchandise Planning, ****************** Chain about the issues, along with some possible solutions. No answer, doesn't care. So sad that where I live it is the only chain pet supply store.

I was an employee. The back third of the building is not heated or have temperature gauges the bathrooms freeze every winter and are unusable currently right now. The womens bathroom besides being freezing has no running water so you cannot wash your hands. This has been going on for years and never gets fixed. The animal care room where the sick animals go when the animals that need to be quarantine is not heated and Im not sure that the store has ever been cleaned.

I have two pets that I take here. One is microchipped and the other is not. Somehow they have two microchip numbers one for each pet but its not even the correct microchip number. When I called them to fix it they said someone will call me within the week. I have an appt in 2 days with a full service vet but I wont be able to go because the microchip numbers dont match.

I am highly dissatisfied with the Petco Grooming in **************. I am new to the area and moved from just south and have previously used Petco in that area where I take my 3 year old Cockapoo for grooming. I went in yesterday to see who would be grooming him just to connect, bring his updated shot records as he is particular about who and how he is groomed. His would be groomer saw in his notes where he will try to bite towards the scissors when clipping his nails, but nothing that indicates that he is a violent dog who bites his groomer. I brought him in today (Saturday) for his appointment and his groomer seemed hesitant, based on our conversation yesterday, as though she was afraid of him. For ******** sake, he has never bit anyone! After realizing that she was that way, I decided to give him one of his anti-anxiety pills (one-half) as he gets nervous from loud noises and fourth of July celebrations, so I only give it to him occasionally just in case. I made the mistake, of being transparent, by telling her I gave it to him to ease her mind. She then went and got her manager, who then told me they could not take him because of that! And proceeded to refer me to another groomer! As she continued to tell me how they couldn't take him, I became upset and angered that I just left. It was so hurtful! I then, out of curiosity, checked the website, they have added notes to my account. I feel so mistreated! I have used Petco for YEARS and to move to his area to be treated this way, is so hurtful and in my opinion, discriminatory! They probably looked at me (being black) and formed an opinion, without giving it a try! Well, thank God for options! Petco is not the only place to go for grooming, but I wanted to put this out there, regarding this awful treatment! So unfortunate!!!

I took in my cat for what they deemed emergency surgery. $2000.00 to be exact. Just to have to return 2 days laters due to her not eating. I was referred to missionvet where I spent another $1000.00. Just to have another doctor say they had done a bad job closing up my cat. I had been a dedicated customer since 2019, but after this I can longer do business with a company who doesnt care about your pets life, but see them as a dollar sign. I was repeatedly as how much I can afford, whats my budget. If you value you the life of your fur baby go to a pet hospital that treats you like a person and not just an ATM. Petco killed my Orchid.
